@@barythomas The actual culprits behind the Almeda, which started near Almeda street, by the BMX track has still never been caught. It was a weird day to be sure.
@@tiamotzz yeah.. I remember that day, it was the first day of school (back when we were doing online school) and during my lunch break. My mom saw the smoke coming from the front window in our house, so we decided to leave, grabbed the dog but not the cat. And when we got to the top of our road, we saw a helicopter dropping repellent right across the street from us, and flames behind the hotel that is infront of us. So we lost our house in the fire. But we are back and striving. I feel like now after the Almeda fire, the Ashland fire department is taking fire in town a lot more seriously. And they aren’t messing around no more, as shown on the fire that was on Toleman creek road, they got that thing out quickly. But from fires, when everything grows back, it’s a lot more healthy, and what not from the nutrients that were in the plants previously. But I feel like after the fire, only good came afterwords. I found my best friend, became a better person, moved into a new house (got it 2 years ago but you get it) got 3 beautiful kittens.
I have lived in west medford for over 10 years now. My house is right in one of the neighborhoods you mentioned in this video- My neighbors are awesome, and we have never had anything stolen or had any issues. I'm not sure why west medford gets such a bad wrap honestly, maybe its just a matter of perspective. We came from a much larger city in CA before moving to Medford, and it was so much worse than here. Every place has its issues, and just because a neighborhood is "poor" doesn't mean its bad. "Poor" people can be some of the best neighbors, very helpful and generous. I have lots of friends who live in east medford in the fancier neighborhoods, and they get stuff stolen all the time.
You're totally right. There are parts of any neighborhood, city, state, country, etc that are great and not so great. That's really what I try to highlight on the channel. West Medford may get a bad reputation, but there are parts that are wonderful. Thank you for watching and sharing your experiences!
Yikes. This looked terrible. As someone who is planning on moving to the Medford area and buying a home in the summer of next year, this is making me question my life choices. One thought keeps running through my mind: WTF am I doing? Sigh... This will either be the best decision I have ever made or the biggest mistake of my entire life.
The good news is that there are MANY amazing areas that don't suffer from the same issues as these small pockets of Medford. Reach out when you have some time and I'll be happy to discuss! My direct number is 541-954-7758. - Brian
Choose the right neighborhoods. There are lots that look like dumpy places like this. Choose good ones, or choose Phoenix or talent. Or Ashland if it’s in your budget. Grants pass is right there and a decent option too

Almeda. It started in Ashland. But, Bakella, who has been convicted, started a fire that wiped out that area in Phoenix and contributed to the damage.
Thank you for clarifying this. I was gonna say something till you said it

This is more of a “worst in Medford” than “Southern Oregon”
Until LE starts cleaning it up, it isn’t going to get better.
It was a nice place too live until all these out of state people started moving here🙄🙄
I'm curious what type of bad experiences you've had with people who have relocated here from another state? Are you willing to share specifics?
