Today we take a look at the Rokid Max AR Glasses to find out. if these augmented reality video glasses are really something to consider. One thing is for certain... I've definitely changed my mind about these so called 'augmented reality' glasses, and these, the Rokid max are to thank for that!

    Awesome video, thx!
What would be better solution for movie watching on the couch from NAS: A Quest 3 (or even Q2), or one of these AR "smart"glasses like Rokid Max or Xreal Air? I know Q is an MR headset, obviously they don't race in the same league , but still, my question can be valid from a movie standpoint, like LCD vs mOLED or nothing vs headband, or 3DoF vs 6 DoF, 50 FOV vs 110 FOV. Considering the prices also...

I would be very interested if you can display 3d content? I mean, are the lenses separated or for both eyes the same? I doubt you get full VR like with a (cheaper) quest but then, the quest you would not use in public transport. Too big, too heavy.

thanks great review, my only concern with using these types of glasses is impact on people's vision.. i'd love to hear an Ophthalmologist's advice. I guess at the minimum they would point to the 20/20/20 rule...but I also think that longterm frequent close focus with your eyes will have detrimental impact on depth vision/focusing in the long run. On the other hand, perhaps you can enable an app that forces you to do depth focusing exercises to train your eye muscles every 20 minutes, even interrupting movies/work etc that could then be a net benefit compared to traditional monitors/tvs

I'll be sticking with my trusty (and old) iPad Air with Netflix and earphones for public transport entertainment, although that was a bit uncomfortable on the T4 when a lady got on at Merthyr, sat next to me and took a keen interest in what was on my screen (Narcos:Mexico as it happens). Unfortunately it seemed she clearly hadn't expressed such a keen interest in her bath that week.

It could be interesting for immersive videoconferencing solutions. VR Teams or Webex, using the AR glasses instead of a headset and with normal webcam instead of avatars, would actually look relatively normal instead of being like a Daft Punk reunion.
The FPV "spotter" law is interesting. If you need an unobscured view of the drone then do glasses count as an obscurity. How about sunglasses? The law would need to draw a line somewhere if they wanted to block their use, and would face potential legal challenges from vendors if that law appeared to be a little too targeted.

What i am asking is: Can you wireless transmit from the camera to an Android Phone (yes), and then wireless transmit from the Android Phone to the Rokid AR Glasses ? And all in realtime ?

The XREAL Air 2s with the Beam accessory are able to do what these glasses do, and are able to fix the viewable screen in space, as you talked about. It would be interesting to see you do a comparison, now that you've done the Rokids, to see what you think of the XREAL Air 2s. The XREAL Air 2s also offer a glasses accessory for those who wear glasses, although I'm unsure whether that means you would need the glasses accessory (if you wear corrective lenses) to view the content on the screens or just view the world through the lenses themselves like normal sunglasses, or potentially both.

    Hard Clarkson vibes.
Disagree about the very bright displays. Theyre just bright enough. Would like them to go more bright. And I mean in pitch-black darkness.
And I dont think you mentioned the 1080p resolution. People on youtube say that you cant see individual pixels. Well thats definetly not true when youre looking at a static image. Straight lines have obvious toothed patterns. You can see the single pixels, but theyre impossible to count one by one. 1440p resolution would be optimal. Something like the Goovis G3 max..
Dont think you mentioned the glare/reflections that are always present on darker backgrounds coming from the lenses. Causes imperfections on the image. Theyre always there, but you dont notice them, unless theres dark spots on the image. Just a limitation of using lenses, i guess. No way to fix.

AR has double the application of VR and VR has a ton of applications with damn near every industry on the planet.
The change in safety margins will be incredible.
I've always been more excited about AR than VR because AR can help everyone(with sight) in numerous ways. One such instance is hands-free emergency calling with direct feed and visual instructions for CPR and the like. Imagine the education system with these, lectures anywhere on a large screen, clear audio and you could get on-the-job experience from software created with the help of specialists.

    - You dont need to be a developer
    - You just need to install visual studio code, copy any javascript code you can find in internet and paste in visual studio code
    - Tell us if it is possible to see the letters clearly or if there is any disconfort, distortion etc...
Please, do it. Everybody is talking just about watching movies, playing games... but Rokid has a much more bigger potential than just that.

The Xreal Air 2 has all of these things with a few added on, for $400. The Xreal Air 2 Pro costs $450 for local dimming added on (the lenses can go from clear to very dark with a touch of a button). It doesn't have screen casting, though, so it has to be connected to your phone via wire. Oh, and don't forget that these are way more obvious that they aren't normal glasses than the Xreal Air 2.
