Even funnier was a time when the LSJUMB did their rendition of Cal's fight song. The Cal band used to play the song through and then change to a higher key a couple of times. LSJUMB kept changing the key higher and higher until only the piccolos were still playing. There's also a part in the Cal fight song where they repeat a measure; LSJUMB got stuck there and repeated the measure about eight times. You had to be there.
man i remember these growing pain years for cardinal football, was tough to watch but all worth it now. Thank you jimmy harbaugh for shaping the culture. Go cardinal!!
@patrioticheart the LSJUMB plays "Tribute to Troy" to mock $C on the turnover. the TMB plays Stanford's fight song on a turnover, so Stanfords band threw it back at them.
@redletter2008 Yes, I once heard men of Troy played in a minor key - proving that the SC MB truly does not exist to make me happy. Get back in the box, Stamford MB!
HAHAHAHAHA that's funny, my high school is the Trojans and we play this song every 2 seconds as well, and as much as I love it, I can imagine it gets annoying for other schools.
@jfranko29 Ok, I apologize for calling you an ignoramus. I've just run into so many dumb jerks on the internet that my patience has run short. Basically, the band plays the fight song after every first down to keep the team pumped up as well as to annoy the opposing team. They're basically saying, "hey, you just gave up a first down on a 3rd and 18 situation! Here's our fight song to rub it in!" From the hatred the band gets from the rest of the Pac-12, it works...maybe a little too well.
Stanford wins. SC (still) sucks. Harbaugh takes 3 of 4. (What's your) deal. and, LSJUMB is 100x more entertaining than the Spitoon Headed Marching Condoms.
@jfranko29 To be accurate and honest, the SC band plays much more than one song, & you probably know it. It also doesn't matter what people who are not SC fans think of the TMB. They don't exist to make you happy. They do exist to promote USC, and have done that quite well. Most objective observers agree that SC has one of the best bands in college football. By far the biggest & best band on the west coast. Stanford is a great school, but their band is an insulting embarrassment - just pitiful.
