    Excellantro! I'm going to try this for my Brother ScanNCut2 for sure for sure!
    Please!
    I ask. Please do NOT not EVER again apologize for your beautiful English. I mean NEVER again.
    Honestly.
    Firstly yours is a truly magnificent sound! Secondly dont you realize, it is a fairly small percentage of the English speaking community which actually speaks MORE than just our native tongue!
    So
    You my darling friend are easily far and away leaps and bounds ahead!
    I truly hope you will remember this.
    Because
    It infuriates me to hear so many people actually speaking MORE than a single language APOLOGIZING for it!
    Ridiculous.
    I'm really sorry for anyone who believes that second, third, fourth, etcetera language speaking folks be made to/need feel SOMEhow THEY'RE not enough??
    B. S.
    You speak fluent English!
    Never again apologize for the ignorance of another person's shortcomings. Agreed??
    I admire your beautiful speech!
    And
    Thanks for this great tutorial too!
    Cheers!

    In Canada, on Amazon, a Cameo Plus mat is $62.53 and 5 bucks shipping. They don't carry the mat in local stores and I refuse to spend that amount. I found a giant mat at Dollarama. I think it is meant to be used as a protective workspace for arts and crafts. It's just over 15" wide with a foam backing. (proportional to a placemat, so I have some extra length which I will keep) I was able to peel the foam from the back easily and it's the perfect size and thickness. The placemats and other cutting mats haven't been wide enough for the 15" cutting machine unless I am making a smaller mat. I thought I'd share this because I was so excited when I found this at Dollarama. So it's a large workspace protector with foam on back, which peels off easily. It's white with a colorful image on the front similar to those plastic placemats you see around. You can find it in the arts and crafts section. (I just noticed them this month, February 2023) I think it was $2.50? Hope this helps someone else out because I have been searching for a cheap alternative to the plus sized mats. I'm going to buy a few more while they carry them. Thank you for your video!

      ive just did this and ended up destroying my mat, but the sides got perfect Gagarin. although what i did is i poured boiling water.lol. it cooked the mat. i guess, since its already almost useless, try dip the mats ends on the hot water. lets see if that will fix

    when you mention adjusting your blade due to thicker mat that the original Silhouette mat.....have you needed to reduce or increase the number for the blade? meaning if I use a blade setting of 5 for cardstock on the regular mat, would I probably go up to a higher number or down to a lower number?

    • @citlalimcdowell
      @citlalimcdowell  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At first I did, since the dollar store mats are thicker, I thought that the blade would cut right. But after a couple of times forgetting to increase the number on the blade dial I didn't really notice any difference. Now I just use the regular settings. I hope this helps.

      Did you use the Tacky Glue she showed in the video? If so, you need to try Tack-It. Same brand, different name. I heard Tacky Glue dries hard instead of tacky, even when mixed with water. I haven't tried it though. Maybe the blade doesn't like the tacky glue.

  • @livinglaughingcraftingwith5077

    Wouldn't you want to use aleens tack over and over instead that glue will not dry sticky even waterdown

    Thank you for sharing this tutorial

    • @citlalimcdowell
      @citlalimcdowell  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should probably change mine, but is still working fine. It does depend on material and number of cuts as you said. Also depends of how clean your mat is, sometimes that diminish the quality on the cuts.
      Other thing to check is if your blade is clean, you can have debris from your cuts inside the casing, is always good to check that too. ( th-cam.com/video/P9IFZ7QK9GA/w-d-xo.html )
      The one I'm using right now, I have used for over a year, ;) Hope this helps.

    • @yumkeks
      @yumkeks 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for the info :)
      I tried to cut 250g cardstock with the blade and at the beginning it was really good but after 15 sheets of this paper on the cutlines it is not cutted through anymore so that I have ripped (really thin ones but still they are there) parts ;_; 15 cardstock sheets is not that much, so I was confused ... maybe I need to set the blade to a higher number? At the moment it is on 7 ... should I set it to 8? and how do I "clean" the blade?
      Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm a beginner >_

    • @citlalimcdowell
      @citlalimcdowell  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't worry at all. I'm not an expert either.
      250g cardstock?, mmmh, Is thick but still, 15 cuts is not that much. I will definitely set the blade to 8, just to see how it works (use scraps :) ) And for sure check if the blade is clean.
      This is the way I do it. (There is people that put the hole casing apart, but I'm just not brave enough to do that, maybe when I'm ready to throw it away) I just unscrew the very top of he white part. Here is a video about it.

    • @citlalimcdowell
      @citlalimcdowell  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm very lazy now. Before I cleaned my mats after 5 or 6 uses. Now about every 10. It depends of how bad they look pretty much. If I use it for fabric, I would have to clean it after 2 or 3, you always get fuzziness left over from the fabric. But If it is paper you can always position the material somewhere in the mat were is not to much debris and use it some extra times.
      I use hot water and all gone to clean them. Sorry, I hope this helps.

    Hola Citlali...muchas gracias por la información ...yo voy a intentarlo...estoy suponiendo que hablas español y por eso me atrevo a escribirte en mi idioma...oye una pregunta, soy nueva en esto y he visto que la mejor opción es ponerle spray adhesivo de 3M reposicionable, no el permanente, que porque el permanente no despegaría el papel del mat, en tu video cual usas, y cuantas capas de spray le pones??? Y si se deja secar por 24 horas después de colocarlo?? Muchas gracias Citlali, bonito día...

      Mira camarada, utiliza el spray "Mist" de la 3M se usa en serigrafia... no uses el pray de "WeB" pues deja muchas telarañas asi le llamamos y no te servira. Espero haya servido de ayuda... take care now .

    ok. I tried to make one up for Scan n cut. I might have wrong portion with tacky glue and water. But I did have half and half. The glue dried on the chopping mat but it doesn't make it sticky at all but left glue residual on it. Besides. Brother scan and cut does not recognize the mat size even though I add extra masking tape/paper on the side. Anyone tried that for SNC? Thank you.

      Fabiola, ella dio 2 opciones, una con el spray y la otra con la goma líquida mezclada con agua (40% goma, 60% agua). Puedes poner esa mezcla en la botella y echarla en el mat y distribuir la goma con el rollo de foam :)

      Gracias por visitar. Si, como menciono garfieldgurl, es una de las dos opciones. La mejor para mi es el pegamento en spay. Es rapido, y mas facil de limpiar. No olvides poner tape alrededor del margen del tapete. Esto para el pegamento solo quede en el area de la reticula.
      Si usas el liquido, utiliza el del nombre que puse en el recuadro, me equivoque cuando grabe el video. Perdon.

      She turned her Silhouette mat (with the plastic protector) upside down the back of it is face up on the table (the sticky side and protector are down. This showed the grid on the back of the mat so she could trace the lines on the new material.
