- Welcome Back! Today we're finishing some odds and ends on the XP800's hull so we can start assembly.
Upon wet sanding the bottom side of the hull we found that an old repair was not coming back to its original color and making the entire water line look terrible. So with that being said enjoy our gel coat process.
As always we will answer questions in the comments section so feel free to ask away.
Thanks for watching and consider subscribing so you don't miss anything.

dude idk how you only have under 1000 subs, yall have quality videos
Thank you so much!!!
Awesome video, looking forward to the rest - (former Sea-Doo & Butch's Jet Ski employee)
Ohhhh hell yeah!!!!
@@TodayWeWrench side note, we had our race boat bottoms sanded rough. Theory was it created a layer of bubbles on the hull. Water flows over water with less resistance.
This was awesome! These make me want a ski!
beautiful work right there!
Thank you very much!
Great video Nick! Wish I still had my 96 XP!! Keep up the great work buddy!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the knowledge sir! I have to do the same thing so I’m going to watch a few more of your videos
Ski where. That Supra though ❤
LOL more videos on that soon
Do you run some kind of dust filter? How bad is the mess in the garage afterwards ?
Excellent video! Thank you! I noticed on the bottom of the ski I recently purchased that there are places wood is exposed. Can I layer gel coat or should I apply fiberglass sheets, sand then apply gel coat?
What do you guys think about gatorglide vs redoing the gel coat?
It's a classic and rare hull. I like the gator glide but defiantly not on this one. No need to redo any more than we did, it came out great
Why would you not take the black trim off and paint up to it?
The sides were sanded and blended in.The gelcoat was mainly for the center and outer chines. Once we sanded it out and buffed it out it matched spot on and you couldn't even tell where the blend started and ended.
if you did the top side would you gelcoat, a topside paint or automotive paint? I would think sanding and buffing gelcoat in the footwells area would suck. But not sure how well auto paint would hold up.
Our next video will be on painting one
Have you ever had to recoat the pink half? If so what color would you use I have one that needs done and it has metallic in it
What Evercoat kit did you use, the brushless gelcoat? The one I got came with the color tubes and the gelcoat filler tube and hardener, but i didn't have that other large container of gelcoat you had that you rolled on.
How you do next to the rivets where you can't send it out?
When you added the additional coats of gelcoat, did you wet sand or just sand normally between the coats?
My biggest question is how to you flip the hull like that. I have a 2002 GTX and that B**** is heavy. Later.
They gut all the internals out so its super light and basically just a jetksi shell.
Good afternoon, can you tell me how difficult it is to flip the jetski. I'm assuming you have to drain all the gas?
We gutted the entire inside.
@@TodayWeWrench Hi I have a 2006 RXP, with gouges on the bottom of the hull. Can you tell me what product you recommend for filling these gouges? There are so many opinions it's a little confusing.
What stand is that?
Do you have a mix ratio of Canary Yellow to White for the gelcote? I ordered a color chip of the Canary Yellow from Bottom Paint store and it's way too dark.
I just went by eye, sorry.
