She had vocal cord surgery for Reinke's edema in 2019. Her already raspy voice deepened further as a result.
If you want to see some of her best live performances of her own stuff, the tiny desk concert, her Backyard Session of Jaded or her performance of Midnight Sky at Whiskey A Go Go are excellent. Or for comparison to her pre-surgery voice, her cover of Ariana's No Tears Left to Cry, or her cover of I'll Take Care of You at the Sidney Opera House in 2014.
She's a pretty remarkable performer; the way she turned a slightly hostile crowd at the 2019 Chris Cornell Tribute from "WTF Miley Cyrus??" to "Holy F*** Miley Cyrus!" was beautiful!
