Purple definitely deserves the classic status...
Others I'd put there
Dreamspace - Stratovarius
Youthanasia - Megadeth
Low - Testament
Time - Mercyful Fate
Burn My Eyes - Machine Head
Far Beyond Driven - Pantera
Smash - Offspring
Dookie - Green Day
For next year's 1995:
...And Out Come the Wolves - Rancid
Fourth Dimension - Stratovarius
The Savage Poetry - Edguy
3 - Firehouse
Ozzmosis - Ozzy Osbourne
Demanufacture - Fear Factory
Balance - VH
Ballbreaker - AC/DC
Adios Amigos - Ramones
Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
The Gold Experience - Prince
Insomniac - Green Day
Those are all of my picks
Those are some great albums bad motor finger was my first and favorite album by soundgarden.
Don't forget Oasis - Definitely Maybe, just celebrated its 30th
The Best!
They mentioned it
great video! I wish you both would do a top ten of your favorite records
southern Harmony blows Amorica away imo
I'm just now getting into Nirvana. When I was a teenager I had a really bad attitude toward ANYTHING that wasn't heavy metal. Now I'm 44 and Kurt Cobain's words are just too good to go ignored. I feel the pain he was in and feel tremendous guilt for trash-talking one of the greatest lyricist's of all time. RIP Kurt.
My favorite album of all time came out in 1994. Marilyn Manson's Portrait of an American Family. A complete game changer for me, but I definitely wouldn't call it a "classic"
That STP Purple (12 Gracious Melodies) and Crowes Amorica, are both masterpieces
Here’s a few:
Slayer - Divine Intervention
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Nail bomb - Point Blank
Machinehead - Burn My Eyes
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Bolt Thrower - …For Victory
Cryptopsy - Blashemy Made Flesh
Pride & Glory - s/t
Thank you for throwing in Nailbomb Point Blank even the live album is one of the best I've heard from industrial thrash
@@superunknown2812 it’s a great album, a classic imho and had to include it, lol. Doesn’t sound dated at all. Appreciate you commenting, thank you 🤘
@@HaakonOdinsson and all the other ones are huge faves of mine
Superunknown is a 90s classic!
I'm hitting that like button before watching. I'm that confident.
Brendon, great video. For me, my classics from 1994 were Motley Crue - Motley Crue and Freak of Nature - Gathering of Freaks. Inmy opinion they are just as good today as the day they were originally released. Thoughts?
I would say the masses consider Dookie a classic album... Southern Harmony, Automatic for the People and Bjork's Debut/Post albums are def considered classics!
Slowdive - Souvlaki (1994) is a big one for me and Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies. Korn's self-titled also released in 1994; huge deal for nu-metal fans. I think those 3 are in big rotation still with even new Gen Z fans. It is weird saying the word "classic" though cuz I think 60s/70s. Ugh, I'm getting old too! Nooooooooo
God, i thought i was the only one who hated Black Hole Son. Badmotorfinger is the classic.
Life is just too short. It feels like yesterday that I was watching Black Hole Sun on Mtv. I would love to see an analogue revolution.
i think alice in chains' jar of flies, megadeth youthanasia, and pantera far beyond driven are also great.
alice cooper's last temptation is very underrated.
In my book the ones you show are 4.5...5 stars albums...so yes 90's classics, absolutely
Ill Communication - Beastie Boys - was def a classic album - great video and topic!
The ultimate classic rock band is Bad Company.
Cinderella Still Climbing from 1994. The most overseen classic ever released 🙌🏻🔥🎸
Very good album but I don’t think it rises to the level of “classic”
Never understood why Weezer's record was so popular. Blur Parklife (94) is a Masterpiece. Suede Dog Man Star (94) also a Classic! Bjork with Sugarcubes was amazing. Solo not so much. Just my opinion.
The opinion of what is classic is always a subjective one.
1994 for me...
Therapy - Troublegum
The Almighty - Crank
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes
Not a second of filler on any of them.
Nothing is worse than Green Day.
Sales figures aside, I would rather make a case for these (classics?):
Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding
Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes
Helmet - Betty
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Megadeth - Youthanasia
and of course
Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
Pink Floyd - Division Bell
Cranberries - No need to argue
REM - Monster
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Offspring- Smash
Warren G - Regulate
Neil Young/Crazy Horse - Sleep with Angels
I lost interest in Mellencamp after Scarecrow - when he became overly political.
Never really liked Green Day.
94 was one of the best years in music, in addition to the ones you showed here, I can think of the nirvana unplugged, and new albums from Cranberries, Pink Floyd, Marillion, Smashing Pumpkins (compilation), Portishead, OAsis first album, Slowdive, Tori Amos, the live PEter Gabriel album, so much...
Green day. NO!
Im class of ‘93 and had similar experiences but embraced bands like Weezer. I loved Soundgarden-Badmotorfinger and did not like Superunknown but now in 2024 I love that album. The idea that something from our high school/college years is classic is hard to grasp.
I love Soundgarden, never liked Black Hole Sun. Vitology I wouldn't call a classic album,
it's an ok album with a couple classic songs on it. What's disturbing is that I was
in high school when this stuff came out, time goes too fast
Great topic, great episode!
I am 51. What they say is classic rock is 30 + years old... That said, I am oldies since my age. People gravitate to the era of music that was when they are young. At my age Hairbands the metal of the 80's is my go to. The 90's did produce some killer sound metal. Soundgarden was one. Pearl jam 10 is my fav. But again, music is subjective to you ear and what moves you. King's X - Black flag was huge too when Soundgarden came out too. I try my best to stay young at heart for the music in my past. Now my kids love the music that I listen to. It is so great to keep it alive through them. The only thing i failed on was my oldest not knowing Rob Zombie. I will kick myself in the ass for that one. She does know who Marilyn Manson is. Oh Thank goodness there was some breakthrough there LOL
Southern Harmony will always reign supreme , but Amorica was phenomenal. The mid tempo moody stuff is gripping . Ballad of Urgency , Descending , Non Fiction and Cursed Diamond . Probably my second favorite record .. by the Crowes
My favorite pear jam albums are ten and vs .my favorite black crowes is shake your money maker. I remember having wild nights by John Mellencamp on cassette single
I am 34. Classic rock is rock music that came out in the 70s and early 80s. Then you have the onset of metal, then alternative rock, then pop rock, and now you have where we are today, the end of everything
Classic rock for me for 1994 - Steve Perry - For the Love of Strange Medicine. And the alternative rock & grunge that was coming out pushed me further into progressive metal & thrash. So, there was Fates Warning - Inside Out, Savatage - Handful of Rain (great album), Tesla - Bust a But ( pretty heavy for them), Dream Theater - Awake ( still my favorite album by them), Testament - Low, & Overkill - W.F.O., Megadeth - Youthanasia
Чуваки, не обижайте Бьорк! Эта девушка знает толк в грибах! 😂 Classic rock of the 90s is Radiohead, Muse (very late 90s and early 00s) and Tool. And how can you forget Blur? And of course Marilyn Manson! In the 90s, Mechanical Animals were recorded! Aaa!..
No I would not consider these albums classics, nor do I think that every year had a classic album come out. Its like the term classic rock is being blurred with a classic album here.
The boys are back in town ❤ love the partnership
Thanks!
Pulp His 'n' Hers… A true classic for me🏴❤️
I remember Dookie came out right after Kurt's death. It was a very comforting album at the time, when people were saddened by the loss. But I heard it so repeatedly, I don't need to hear it again 😂. Some great albums there
That album sucks. Lol, green day ? Just horrible 😂
@dang75790 albums aren't horrible, people are
@@ericmiller1881 that album is horrible. The group members are horrible people.
@@dang75790 have a nice day
if we still discuss them , they still resonate , influence , yes they are classic ..,
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand and Pavement - Wowee Zowee
Thanks Brandon. Love your conversations that include Anthony. The Sound Exchange looks amazing for any music fan!
I actually liked that album by lit. A place in the sun.
I agree Badmotorfinger killer ..,
Cinderella "Still Climbing"
Missing the top album of 94. Troublegum by Therapy?
Where was that a “top” album? Certainly not in terms of popularity, sales, chat poisons or any other things that are used to quantify success.
Balls to Picasso. Awesome.
Was Jagged Little Pill 94 or 95 ? Say what you will it is a classic ..,
1995.
STP GOOD ONE
Bush. No!
No to REM
😎👍
Forgot a huge one boys Live Throwing Copper was huge in 94
Didn’t forget…just can’t cover ever album under the sun
@@BrendonSnyder , no worries mate , it was huge here , man could not go a day without hearing Lightning Crashes ..,
@@BrendonSnyder Had several huge hits, most notably "Lightning Crashes."
Oh yeah the nineties , Grunge time ... not for me .
Collective Soul is not grunge. Neither is STP.
AIC was metal-based grunge. "Rotten Apple" and "Nutshell" are the gems from that album.
A band can have more than one classic album
No one said they couldn’t
@@BrendonSnyder just a statement, not an argument
Cheers to CD World, Menlo Park reference
