The main difference between the success of this blue deck and the failure of other recent ones is the presence of proactive plays. Two mana counters look so much better when you have a real board presence to back them up. Ocelot Pride/Usher were MVP’s here.
@@kevinsun7617 I still prefer my old “snap control” deck (Myth Realized, Narset Transcendant, Citadel Siege, End Hostilities, counters, o ring effects, lifelinking man land, and the surprisingly good 3-mana manarocks that animate into dragons, aka “Not a dude.deck,” from DTK Standard), but aggro control is fun, too. Snap control is just control the game, starting with a one drop do-nothing enchantment, it gets bigger and threatens to block with each negate/dispel/gone awry/stasis snare/mana rock/planeswalker/board wipe I play, Citadel Siege on dragons to slow them down and force playing into my wrath, then one on Khans to end the game in three or less turns, once I have enough counters to keep my not-a-dudes safe while beating face. Myth realized letting me hold up all my mana every turn was a really good creature for only 1 mana (to play or activate).
Nice to see you draft a more assertive deck instead of something durdley. Your opponents were on the back foot almost every game and your disruption package was niiiice
Have to say it, lsv...hands down one of the best TH-cam content creators for mtg, always enjoy watching. Thank you for all you have uploaded for us to enjoy 😀
the first 6 picks of this draft feel like such a masterclass! those would've been such hard picks for me to see, watching them all come together and get paid off was so satisfying.
I've suffered with you the lack of luck in the previous drafts, specially those with 5 land draws in a row, man so brutal. But this one was lots of fun! Great 3-0 with the powerless boros splashing blue deck! Great content as always LSV!
Yes, and the downside is that any creatures under it are immediately in play to block Phelia. But if that isn’t important, it’s a nice reset. Parallax Wave also has fun interactions with Flickerwisp.
For gameplay, nobody does it better, for limited information, nobody does it better, for personality and talking Magic, LSV is great but if you're looking then there's also the goldfish crew, and cardmarket, also cardmarket's game play is pretty good. Then there's Rarran, CGB and Cimo along with some other team ups which is just a show on the periphery of the game but those are really enjoyable as well.
@@cz19856 I wasn't criticizing or anything, I agreed with the sentiment though even though it was a joke, I've found some good creators but a lot that aren't good enough yet or miss the mark in other ways so I just shared the creators I like.
Would it be insane to take Sword pick 1 pack 1? Not a normal pick, but I feel like you could nearly guarantee getting Thopter Foundry if no one saw the Sword
I really dont understand not Forcing the Pyromancer in game 3 match 2, surely leaving your opponent with 2 lands in hand is more effective than letting them rummage them away
Been bad for years and gets worse with every new power crept set. You can’t spend 4 mana on a card and pray your creature survives just to dish out two temporary -1/-1’s.
I think that’s a little overblown - Jitte does still crush some games. It’s definitely better in decks with fast mana, or as a backup target for Stoneforge. But often it’s too slow for sure.
I think it’s slightly overrated in cube, def not as good as Ragavan, its better as a build around card for constructed. It can be strong early and in the late game if you have life gain and token generators together which is a lot to ask for in cube. Mother of Runes might be the best white one drop still.

Magic the gather professor at the Oxford university cooking up the first control aggro deck circa 1862

The world needs an lsv video today. Thanks for the upload :)
I would be surprised if he didn't vote for Trump.
40 ish year old white male.
Not so many Kamala supporters in this demographic 😊
Luis and Vargas are not "white" names lol. Way to stereotype tho!

OMG so glad that plains showed up!! Go Luis! 💪
SAME! I was hoping for that 3:0!
Force of Will pitching Pyrokinesis? They're from the same cycle, that's so funny that both are played after all these years.

"If Plains is the top card of my deck, I'd be pretty happy."
Things I never thought I'd hear during an LSV Vintage cube draft.
This deck looked so good and looked so fun! That first match was like the nightmare matchup, but
grats on the 3:0!
Just to be sure : you can blink Parallax Wave with Phelia, and it'll be back with its full 5 fading counters right ?

I get the explanation of your flickerwisp pick over the retrofitter. I bet it would've wheeled though
Retrofitter would not have been good in this deck though.
Love seeing the team drafts nice 3-0.
sweet deck and draft! would love to see some more modo cube while it's still available
Let's go! So pleased to see you get the 3-0

Finally snagged that Altoids sponsorship!

Yes it would be imo - it’s a good combo when it comes together but not busted, and it doesn’t always get there
@LSVargas I see! Thanks for the explanation 😊
blue white aggro my pet archetype in cube. so sick

Yes 3-0
is ocelots pride really THAT good?
Yes if it goes unchecked it is game winning

I got to copy it with Satya once - that was fun!
You're right, it's not as game winning as Ragavan: it's way, way better
i mean, it does do a lot for a one drop i guess.
3-0 exists!
We still hear you swallow way too loud and clear
