Hi Erin, great video, I have been looking forward to a DIY video for this! Would you be able to give a list of the tools/products you used or generally use in most of your DIY cage accessories? I would love to do these myself but don't know where to start equipment wise! 😁
After seeing your natural cage set up I decided to transfer my ham to a natural cage!! Right now I have new toys and oat sprays in the freezer to disinfect them. I also sanitized a bunch of rocks. I really hope this helps my hamsters stress as he has seizures that occur most often after stress. Thank you for the inspiration!
This video sold me on a Dremel I thought about getting one “someday” but seeing with ease sanding into tight spaces and all the sanding I do and all the cuts I have on my fingers... thanks for selling me on products you didn’t intend to sell. My life and DIY is so much quicker and easier now!!!😘
I made this out of cardboard for a dwarf hamster and she loves it. I used dowels one the 4 corners to elevate the bottom so she can have lots of burrowing. Thanks for the clear instructions.
I made one of these for my hamster!! I made mine out of card board mainly because I don’t keep his houses it’s pretty rare I use the same one over. As I make a ton of houses for him!!
You make such artful, delightful videos! I, for one, really enjoy the mix of voice-over videos and these kind of artsy visual ones❤️❤️ Keep doing what you’re doing, loving it!
Well my lil Lucas passed away in April, day before Easter. 😪 He couldn't climb & stopped using his wheel so I knew his time was coming. I watched him for a few more weeks & the sad morning when I checked on him...I saw his little foot. It wasn't scrunched up into his body & boy did the tears start! I miss that cute lil boy hamster! Lost our Chewey, female hamster last summer. They were for my 10 yro granddaughter but I sure got attached. Buried lil Lucas boy out at my dad's with the dogs from years ago. There will be NO MORE rodent pets for any of the other grand kids so I told her she should feel blessed!!🐭
I just made a version of this with my family, you can make it with no glue if you use a top and bottom and cut the ridges in a way they can lock together! Remember to sand all the edges, dont want any little splinters 💓
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL! ur vids help me so much thanks so so much evertime I do something wrong with my hamster I freak out but when u say its ok im really happy my hamsters are alright ILY vids!
I got so lucky, I found a box that is the exact size of a multi chamber hideout, it's wooden, and has a lid!! The only problem is the splinters but I'll sand it down and use a non toxic mod podge or something
this is really cute! I might ask my builder mate if they have any experience with acrylic as I would love to make a (obviously bigger, non absorbent, better ventilated) version of this for my rats!
Hey Ollie, I hope you and your family are doing well! What type of wood did you use? I'm gonna use birch but wanted to see what wood you used first before buying it, thanks!!!!!
Thank you so much for making this video Erin! I am continually learning and improving the lives of my first hamsters thanks to you! Do you recommend making the hide a bit bigger for a Syrian? I have a very large enclosure for her (7 x 4 feet) and my dwarf is in an Ikea Detolf - and I am planning to make one for each of them but was wondering if you advise that the Syrian one be made a bit larger as the size of my enclosure allows for that?
It's also for Syrians, you can use the same size =) *sorry, didn't read well. Someone said that if the house is too big, there will be a chance the hamster will also use it as a toilet. Don't know if yours is potty trained. Good luck!
Hi Erin, I recently got a hamster that came from an abusive home and despite following all guidelines I found through your channel and others she's still displaying a few weird behaviours. (We've had her for about a month). She chewed the bars until we removed them from her reach, is this because she's in a new environment? (she's in the detolf, half the lid is barred). She shows little interest in food puzzles and I'm not sure if she's just too used to a bowl or what? Also, she seems to enjoy being held, and likes coming out to play and climbing us, but she won't go onto my hand, I have to gently scoop her. If I lead her with the food she'll give up if it goes over my hand, even though she'll eat from my hand? She seems very tame otherwise but I just wonder if these are behaviours she can't unlearn because she's about 6 months old at this point?
If it stayed wet it would definitely mold, but since you only get it wet once and then it completely dries and never gets wet again, I doubt it would grow any mold.
Hi there! Something I did when my Syrian wasn’t keen on me picking her up yet was to put treats on my hand and lay it flat on the ground in her cage. She got used to standing on my hand to eat the treats over time, (each little fur baby takes its own time to adjust to things, so patience is key). Once she was used to standing on it, I would have her there eating a treat and lift my hand only slightly (like a couple inches at most, still safe to jump from if she wants) and start to get her used to that. Over time, she should begin to adjust to being lifted up, but I would definitely recommend using your other hand to cradle her when lifting more than a few inches, and always keeping her as close to the ground as possible when carrying in case she does decide to “abandon ship”. Hope this helps! ❤️
I want to get the niteangel multi chamber hideout and put it on top of where the bedding is high so they can burrow underneath it but is it too heavy? How can I use this as a underground thing?
Imagine Erin making another exact same one of these and sending it to my house😭. Like I would love that! I don’t have any of those tools used. I’m not good when it comes to building. And it would mean so much to me!😩❤️
It holds quite well, as long as you don't soak in water. In a few of my diy houses I've glued them and then added small nails on the joins as mg hamster isn't a chewer so doesn't chew on them.
No joke. I spent hours last night trying to find a tutorial for a diy chambered hide. this is so perfect ahh ❤️
Tip: If you can't or don't want to use wood for this project you can easily make it using thick cardboard instead.
I'm making a chamber for my hammy now! ❤️

Toffee The Hamster I would love to see it!
I actually liked the voice free version, I found it quite relaxing.
I really liked the music. It was a cool video.

That feel when you remember that one nest box is the size of what a lot of hamsters have to deal with as their whole enclosure...
Makes me furious!
This is so clever, love it. It always amazed me how finely hamsters can shred tissue paper for their bedding, the tiniest little strips! ✨ Magical ❤
I think the same

I make stuff like this with cardboard all the time. I always switch it up and add different rooms and hallways and things. My Syrians love it

I love this😍 definitely going to make this for Sniff, but in cardboard.
Sniff the hamster
Sniff is an adorable name omg
Randomness Lord thanks😊
My hamster's name is Nascar...... Sniff is cuter
FishyEat Butter I like nascar too. So unike😍
Thats my hamsters nickname since she sniffs very loudly. Especially when upset with cleaning day.
YEEESSS! Dimensions in cm, not in inches !!! :)) Thank you
Lol
I made one of these for my hamster!! I made mine out of card board mainly because I don’t keep his houses it’s pretty rare I use the same one over. As I make a ton of houses for him!!
Yessss I’ve been in need for this video without even knowing ahhh! Can’t wait for little Rosie to have this! :)
You make such artful, delightful videos! I, for one, really enjoy the mix of voice-over videos and these kind of artsy visual ones❤️❤️

I love your DIYs so much!
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL! ur vids help me so much thanks so so much evertime I do something wrong with my hamster I freak out but when u say its ok im really happy my hamsters are alright
ILY vids!
It would be great if you could include what sort of glue you use etc as well as equipment & the sort of wood
sweet but psycho I think she used a kid glue because they are not toxic
M Nastri well she replies to mine in another video but ya
@M Nastri she checks comments twice weekly if she can. She has a life outside of TH-cam.
This is so cool. You are so talented. I wish I was handy and had tools. I would probably chop off a finger!
i adore these hides 😫💞 i only have a cardboard multi chamber hide but im totally gonna make one of out wood one day! thank u erin for this tutorial!!
A silly question but what type of wood should I be using? I am guessing the plywood from the big box store is a no no?
thank you .
Our Steve would have loved one of those. Nice work!
Thank you! I've been looking to make one and even bought hole drill bits. I vant wait to make it.
This is such a cool idea!
Tip: if you cant use power tools, get a ham maze with the compartments big enough to use as a multi chambered hide😋
Excited for another project!!! My hamsters are going to be so spoiled ❤️
Happy birthday to this video
Hey Erin, this is great thank you so much!
Early!!! 🙌🙌🙌 Love your videos!
Damn dwarfs.... They are too cute..

Great video! Congrats from São Paulo, Brazil! I love your DIY videos! Thank you very much!
Wow! That’s so cute. Thanks for sharing this
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
This is such a cute idea ☺️❤️
What type of wood did you use? Or do you have suggestions to what would be similar? Would love to create this for my hammo!
Great vid I will definitely make this
this is really cute! I might ask my builder mate if they have any experience with acrylic as I would love to make a (obviously bigger, non absorbent, better ventilated) version of this for my rats!
Ive been trying to figur out where you got that hide since you did the natural cage for the grand revil of the new ham ham ^-^
Hey Ollie, I hope you and your family are doing well! What type of wood did you use? I'm gonna use birch but wanted to see what wood you used first before buying it, thanks!!!!!
Awesome cage!!! Love it!

Can you use different teas, like coloured teas?
Notification squad!🙌🏻
What kind of wood and glue did you use? Love this!
She used Elmer's ( glue they give to school children)
Awesome ❤️
New video!!!😁
Hi Erin, great video. I want to make one out of wood for our hamster Fudge. Could you tell me what wood are you using? Thank you.
My hamster heard the music and the start and poked over like what’s goin on lol
What type of wood have you used in this? I want to make sure I get the right one 😊
Love it! Thank you so much!
The time has come!
Yay I'm making this!

I just now got the notafication to this vid 😭 i was gonna try and be firstttt
Whelp
At least i can say im 28th
Can you do a Pet Mouse care video ? ❤️
Alaa Wilczek zincs getting old so he’s been retired from the channel :(
What glue do you use ? Awesome video !
omg Nitrogen is sooo cute!!
Th for this Amazing tutorial! ??? Will the tea making the wood wet cause any mold? ❤🐹😘
If it stayed wet it would definitely mold, but since you only get it wet once and then it completely dries and never gets wet again, I doubt it would grow any mold.
This looks so good! But what type of wood is best to use?
Love it!
Also, what type of wood did you use and/or recommend?
Dont use Pine ,Cedar And softwood, use apple, Kiwi, aspen or rosewood
@@itztomato44 solid pine is perfectly safe it's when it's turned into shavings it becomes unsafe unless its kiln dried and dust extracted
@@C.Woodford i know, just it was expensive in my place Lol
How can I make sure there's nothing in the wood treating/glue that'll be bad for my ham?
any non toxic gule like Elmer's school glue will do and be safe :)
I’m making a multi chamber hideout, but I’m not sure how big each chamber should be.Also, should I make 1 exit or 2?
I love the DIY. R u going to get any more small pets?
The teabag's what do you mean by regular teabag's? Can I use like blueberry flavored?
Que mono tu hamster y me encanto tu video saludos desde chile 😍😍
How cute! By the way I’m getting a hamster in less than a week!
Can you do a video on how to evacuate in an emergency with your hamster? Such as a wildfire, hurricane, or tornado.
slap them in a travel cage, bring their food mix and run. easy peasy
So totally rad and awesome! I want to do this with cardboard for sure 🌈🌈🌈
My black bear Syrian is super sweet and dosent bite, but when I pick her up she always jumps off my hand
Not sure what to do..
Any suggestions??

Amy Tedrick thank you you sooo much!! I will try this once I get home, I appreciate you answering my question! She is still a baby after all 🐹❤️❤️
Seeing as you enclosures are so big would you not consider housing multiple hamsters again? Or are multiples a really bad idea?
Most hamsters shouldn't be housed together. It's just a bad idea in general.
i might do this for Hammington lol
Is that standard paper glue you are using??
Always use a non toxic one, safe for children to chew on etc !
I want to get the niteangel multi chamber hideout and put it on top of where the bedding is high so they can burrow underneath it but is it too heavy? How can I use this as a underground thing?
It’s sad that the size of that house is the same size as cages they sell at pet stores
Whoops just made almost this exact comment before seeing yours. It's true though :(
PuppyMintMocha Yeah I feel bad for the poor animals
how thick is the wood you use in this video
Hey Erin, what's the best way to cut holes into cardboard for this? And what is the thickness of the wood you used?
you can use a jab saw, it'll take more effort and time but it works well! sand it down after and all that too
Hi Erin, it looks like you also added a bottom to this hide out... is this correct?
No, there is no bottom.
so cuteeeeeeeeeee
Also can u another Q and A video of ur pets or ur channel
What kind of wood and glue did you use?
Can you use any type of wood to make this?
Love this sm😍😍
Would it be bad if my hamster chews on the house
How to you protect the bottom of the hideout so you can clean it and the wood doesn’t absorb?
Cover it with Plastikote (Im late lol)
IM CURRENTLY MAKING ONE OMG
Imagine Erin making another exact same one of these and sending it to my house😭. Like I would love that! I don’t have any of those tools used. I’m not good when it comes to building. And it would mean so much to me!😩❤️
Is all wood safe for hamster 🐹??
That’s the drill bit called
What kind of wood is this?
early ♡
No voice 😭😭😭
Still love the video.💕
Yesh uwu
I have a question, how well does the glue hold?
It holds quite well, as long as you don't soak in water. In a few of my diy houses I've glued them and then added small nails on the joins as mg hamster isn't a chewer so doesn't chew on them.
What is the wood that is used?
Will this be big enough for a syrian?
Yes :)
What wood did you use or what wood do you recommend to use?
HeyItzRosie plywood
