Thank god somebody finally said it. Extra mag isn’t necessarily for more rounds but to easily clear malfunctions. Especially if the mag is what’s causing it.
A tip I learned from some senior guys in my new unit. Attach a QLS receiver to your gun belt via a blade tek teklok. Then attach safariland qls forks to different kidex pouches you may need throughout your shift (ar mag, taser, radio, etc) this way you can change gear as needed without undoing your whole belt.
I just found your channel and work in the court system. I’m going apply the space at the back part to my duty belt. One thing I’ve put on my belt is an retractable ID clip with a handcuff key on it. I can put it between my inner and outer belt and it’s useful if I have to drop the key and use my 2nd hand to control someone.
I learned recently that a piece of duct tape on top of the QLS receiver plate can not only eliminate play, it helps prevent screws from backing out too. I tried it and it makes a difference. Just something i learned. Also, have you tried out Cloud Defensive lights?
I was so happy when I saw your flashlight ring. I thought I was the last cop to still have one on my duty belt. Always appreciate your content, I’ve been sharing them with coworkers, especially the new guys
Awesome appreciate that. Yeah I see a lot of guys moving away from a larger flashlight, and utilizing the small handheld on their belt. But I think having a bright modern larger flashlight it important to have for the reasons I listed. Besides the old schools days of it being an “improvised impact device” lol
@@fluffbleed8578if you’re running a full size flash light and are in a use of force good luck putting it back into a holster. Much faster to throw it in the flash light ring. It’s worked for me well.
If you have the option of a load bearing molle vest carrier what would you recommend putting on your vest and what would you keep on your belt? I work in a small village lockup so tasers and batons are out of the equation. We still carry firearms for transports traffic control etc. I have the 511 belt as well and love it!
If I could have a load bearing vest I’d keep my pistol, pistol mags and maybe handcuffs on my belt still. The second set of cuffs, radio and med would be on the vest.
Excellent video as per usual. I like the QLS but that being said, it’s because you can adjust the angle. Didn’t realize that plate exists. My agency doesn’t require baton so I ditched that thing. I like your key tip, I do something similar but I think I’ll switch to your method. Pretty much everything is the same on mine only I got old school leather, rocking the same mag light loop lol. Keep up the solid work man! Love the vids
Hey mate, my station is beginning a cycle unit, it will be a couple of shifts a fortnight, how much cycling would you recommend recommended to get up to shape? I got to the gym 3-4 times a week and do weights and jogging.cheers
I use the Bladetech tekmount now instead of QLS. It allows for cant on the fly and when going to the jail i cant take off my entire holster with gun in it. I now use the bang hanger from Guardian Warrior Solution instead of the UBL.
I run the bladeteck as well. Only thing I didn’t like was the side to side play. So I place a small square of loop Velcro on the female mount which eliminates all play.
The bravo isn’t a bad belt, but a lot of 5.11 gear is hit or miss. I’ve had a lot of heavy wear on boots, pouches, and pants not to mention undershirts and socks that have worn out quickly. That’s why I have stayed away from the Bravo because I’m expecting to buy another belt and waste another $60 within a year to two years with 511 quality. How well has the Bravo worked out for you?
Hey Dan! Will you be making a video on brazilian ju-jutsu and weightlifting and cardio? I would like to hear some basic info and/or how to balance those activities with your job. Thanks :)
Putting your weapon in a locker at the jail is much more safe if you can leave it in the holster. Not everybody knows how to operate these holsters. It’s easy on and off as long as you know what you’re doing.
Great video, I'm a corrections officer and had never considered running my cuffs in the front rather than at the 4 o'clock position. I do have a question did you keep your cuffs in the same place for your tactical belt (video from 10 months ago) or did you move them to the front like your patrol belt? keep up the great content and I hope to see more items in your store!
For the swat / warrant belt I keep them behind pistol in the back. In that environment I am almost always with other people, so it’s more of a team game. Hands are held by other people and then I go for my cuffs. On patrol you are handcuffing people by yourself a lot more. If that makes sense
Like anything they do. Anytime we add more “things” we increase the chances of “things” to break. Iv seen them break in DT training. I’m not saying they are weak or anything, just something to keep in mind.
@@SoileaterYTduring an arrest an officers taser mounted to his vest via a QLS was removed by the offender. I’m not sure if the QLS was broken or if the mechanism was disengaged but it can/ has happened.
