    Great video. I love black and orange, especially in dirty water. Do you mind telling me where you are buying your heads. Everything i find locally are collard jigs. TIA

      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  ปีที่แล้ว

      I buy some from Honey Hole in West Monroe Louisiana, but pour a lot myself. Pouring my own allows me to select better hooks. Doit sells some non- collared jig molds, but you need to watch my latest video on the jig mold I modified. It's turning out some dandy's. I'll be making follow up jig videos showing the finished product in next few weeks for sure

      Yes sir thank you. I'm still wanting one but haven't got one yet. We don't fish much during hunting season, but I'll get back to tying jigs about January and hopefully get a better vice then. I'll be putting out more jig videos then. I have some new jigs I'm working on that I'll be sharing. Fished the prototypes this summer and they are killer. Thanks for subscribing and hopefully your Bell is set to All. I'll be releasing a new video this morning. Thanks for watching!!

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming your talking about the hooks. The jugs are standard round head 1/16 oz non collared jigs in this video that I got from local tackle shop. They sell bulk unpainted jigs and a reasonable price. Those in that video come from Honey Hole in West Monroe Louisiana. I paint my own. The hooks are #4 and #2 that I mostly use. #6 on smaller jigs. Those hooks are Sickle hooks, but I use regular as well. I'm experimenting now with some stronger hooks I'll be testing and showing in upcoming videos. I also pour a lot of my own lead heads now. I show that in some of our videos. Hope this helps, stay subscribed and set the Bell to ALL to get updated videos😉

    Great looking Jigs! I too got back into tying jigs about a year ago. I was watching Ken Frederick tying jigs then fish them on his channel, Kfredfishing, and it re-kindelled my interest in tying jigs. I believe you can not tie a jig that some fish will not hit. Of course the goal is to find a combination that they will consistantly hit. I use feathers of all types, I pheasant, dove, quail and turkey hunt. I use all types of hair from deer, fox, squirrel, [black grey and red], coon, oppossum, mink, coyote etc. etc. and have caught fish on every jig I have tied. A buddy in Sardis, MS sent me a picture of the 1st crappie he pitched on, it had my jig in it's mouth. He tied two on for more weight, you guessed it, he sent me a picture of two he caught at the same time. I learn something with each one I tie. The great thing is that, to me, it is as much fun to tie the jigs as it is to fish them, [well maybe not quite]. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more videos. I learn something with everyone I watch. I am a beginner but I will glad to share any tricks or short cuts I have learned. One quick example, one of my most successful jigs is a pink head, white chinille body and a chartruse tail. I catch a lot of crappie and bream on it. The secrect I have discovered is to powder coat the jig head white and then paint it with the brightest pink nail polish I can find. The white undercoat makes it really stand out. Have a blessed day my friend. PB

      I do enjoy tying them. Just something about it. You are right, they all catch at some point, but some seperate themselves on certain days. Size at times I believe, but especially color at times. I always thought color matters, but didn't realize how much until we fish Livescope. Presentation, size, color, it all matters. Before Livescope, no I'd never have tied on a 1/4 oz jig for crappie, but now, lol. I'll start fishing them a lot in more videos during February as our hunting season winds down

      Yes sir, we got 5 in right now for channel cats, but we ain't had any rain and need current bad. We could also fish the lake right now with wire nets, but pressed for time to do both. If we don't get current soon we will put them in though

      No problem. Not sure where your located, but our local bait shops to North Louisiana have a lot of the tying materials. You can also find a lot on Amazon and eBay. Be aware of the stuff on Amazon, it's hot and miss as far as quality. Nimrods on Ebay is good. You can also find a lot online by searching fly tying materials. Several good companies will pop up. Also Barlow's has a lot

    I really enjoyed this one. Looks like a good way to clear your mind after a day at work. Possibilities are endless I guess in your materials. Need to try some iridescent turkey or duck feathers that may flash different colors in different light.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tied some duck feathers, but have not fished them yet. So far it's hard to find anything that looks as good as the hackle, and the action is different in the water on different feathers as well. Hackle just works good

    @GCHF, thanks you for your time and videos you don't know how much you have helped me in trying my own jigs. I just started tying and I have to tell you that you played a big role in it. Keep up the good work, and keep the videos coming.
    Again, I want to thank you. Salute you from your new subscriber 🫡

      Yes, we're so diverse in our content we spend a lot of our time filming and editing the longer fishing videos. I've recently been looking over all our video analytics and of all our videos, our few little jig tying videos were highest performing. I've had to catch up on a lot with the making of the slat trap series, but told the wife we gotta get more tying videos out to you guys. I know its wanted, and that's what we will hear our channel towards. Your request and feedback alone will get you that video made. Be patient with us in the long haul cause I don't fish much during hunting season, but you request a certain tying video and I'll get it out to you if I know how. Thanks for the input!!!

    I liked the video... Have you tried any bucktail was curious your opinion on something like that vs the strung neck hackle?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have, and caught fish. There's a place in my tackle box for them all. However for me now fishing scope, consistently catching crappie is about color combinations, presentation, action, but none of the three are ever consistent. What I mean is each day, and even during the day they constantly change their minds. They might wear out a certain color and action till 10:00, then shut down. We used to think they stopped biting, but a lot of times I change it up and keep on catching. With Hackle and chenille I got endless colors to test out and great tail action. Bucktail I'm limited to color selection, less action, but sometimes it just works. I've caught stubborn big fish on bucktail. However as far as hair jigs, I like kiptail (calf tail). I have decent color options, and it has a little better action to me while keeping a fuller look in the water. At times on black crappie it's been a go to for me. Maybe I'll do a video on this Subject and tie all three in the video!!!

    Ok I got a question. I’ve never heard of a hackle feather. Is that from a particular feather on a birds body or is there some strange hackle bird I’ve never heard of?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hackle Bird, LoL. That's the bird you call in in April and he just hackles you from 80 yards out🤣🤣 it's the neck hackle feathers from chickens or other birds I guess. They die it different colors and sell it for tying jigs and flies!!

      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where haven't I got materials could be easier, lol. Local tackle shops in West Monroe have tying materials. I get lots there, then search Fly tying materials online. You can spend a fortune, so be warned. It's a habit 🤣. eBay is good, Amazon has some, Barlows has a lot as well. Stick to basics to start. 1/16-1/4 oz jigs, body material is mostly Chenilles, and I use Hackle feather, Kiptail, and Squirrel tail. Oranges, pinks, hold, silver, grey's, chartreuse, purple being main colors
