    Thank you for such a thorough tour and such helpful commentary. I’m a former Chalet A-frame RV owner. Had many, many fun times in it. I’m considering an A-Liner, and I really appreciate the time you took to make and post this video.

      @@kevinkelly1827 thank you, I often wondered why some ppl stated that they couldn’t hear me on the video, but anyways the camper has held up pretty well, we haven’t had to do any repairs in more than 3 years since the purchase, the only issue I had is the foam on top of rear wall came loose, and it needs to be glued back, but I haven’t had that done yet, and it hasn’t leaked or anything. I would definitely recommend this little trailer if someone wants to upgrade from tent camping. Definitely more comfortable and you don’t need to worry about the weather that much.

    Thanks, this was very helpful. We have considered teardrops because we like the exterior galley concept, but they are very expensive for what is essentially a bed on wheels. We have also considered ALiners, but the big ones are more than we want to spend for occasional camping. This is the sweet spot. I didn't know you could forgo the A/C. I was also concerned about it poking out. We also didn't need a stove since we prefer to cook outside.
    My only concern is reports of the bubble window leaking. I hope they have addressed this issue.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fortunately we have not experienced any leaking from the bubble window, and we definitely feel like this type of A frame camper feels way more comfortable than the teardrops.

      @@frank_wu318 glad to hear you've had no leak problems. This reminds me of the Starcraft popup we had when our boys were 11 and 13. We drove from Georgia to California and back on a 30 day trip and had a blast. We slept in the camper every night. We'll retire in a year or so and want to explore the West.

    I guess the Scout Lite fits your needs….
    But I like the Aliner LXE that has a wet bath as well as a kitchen with a stove and a fridge.
    Hope you had a great time camping

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you prefer the wet bath and stove inside, LXE is definitely one for you, we didn’t find it that useful since we mostly stay at state and regional parks, hope you get yours soon if you haven’t gotten one already, we love ours.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This would be perfect little camper for you and the cat, you could have the permanent dinette set up in the rear, and we get around 19-20 mpg which is not bad for towing, especially with high gas prices nowadays.

    Where did you have the dormer installed? I have the 2023 Aliner Scout Lite and would love to have that feature.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was an option from the factory, we ordered ours with the wind assist and front soft dormer. Since Scour Lite is the smallest ALiner, hard dormers are not offered from the factory, but we prefer the soft dormer.

  • @AlanHuang17
    @AlanHuang17 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I can ask, what kind of mpg do you get (with and without for comparison)?
    And with the toilet, where do you use it?
    And you usually bank on campsites providing showers (because, I guess you aren’t carrying water)?
    Thanks for the video! (Can hear you just fine).

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  ปีที่แล้ว

      MPG usually depends on the towing vehicle, We tow with my 2011 X3 or x5 diesel, so I get pretty good mpg, around 20-22mpg.
      We mostly camp at county or state campgrounds so most have restrooms even showers, so we mostly use the portable toilet at night in the camper since we don’t feel like walking to the restrooms at night.

    Nice vid. Question: Can the dormer be installed on either side? I see the Dormer is installed on the bunk side but wouldn't it be better installed on the dinette side for more sitting room? Thanks.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Excellent question, I wish they offered that option, but unfortunately on the Scout Lite model there is only the option of adding a front soft dormer, not rear. Some of the larger ones, you can get both front and rear, hard or soft dormers.

    I just bought a 2024 that looks just like it. I wanted the head room with dormer. On Aliner FB page someone told me I need the wind assist bars. I've only opened it once but wasn't that difficult. Are you doing ok without the bars .... what do you think? Ty for your video.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do have the wind assist kit, and I do use them, but if you are not camping at some real windy places, I don’t believe you really need them, would’ve been better if you ordered them from the factory since I don’t know how good some of diy ones you see on the group page or on TH-cam.

    • @frank_wu318
      @frank_wu318  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I bought it on eBay, you can find plenty of them on there, but to be honest, I would not recommend this one, or this type of tongue box, if I had to do it over again I would probably try to get a bigger one which will allow me to move the battery inside the box.

      We absolutely love this little a-frame camper, no regrets whatsoever. This is our first camper as well, and we have been on probably 15-20 short camping trips since we purchased it last year, for the money I don’t think there is better option out there.
