- I decided to try out a mod that makes every boss in pantheon 5 more difficult, called Pantheon of Hallownest EX. This mod was very unfair and sometimes broken but I did my best to get as far as I could.

Imagine having to be interesting and fair with the saws and spikes when you can just do what this mod did
You say that, but for a lot of it they both kept it varied and had times where they made things very specifically fairer. Like the platform that lifts over the sawblade.

@@FFKonoko I think there's a theoretical thing where you get hit by the collector as the battle starts I think, and then you can move around? but that's still a guaranteed damage so
And honestly, it's technically varied but having a few fair things doesn't mean the mod isn't artificially hard. Also that platform that lifts over the Galien sawblade doesn't even work sometimes either, so you get hit like 3 times before you can actually do anything, and then there's the Uuwuu fight and then there's *ENRAGED GUARDIAN*

Most Hollow Knight mods are impossible for 90% of the community.
Bruh, I can't do most of regular bosses without either some help or very hard tactics and luck. And people are making boss rushes + adding some impossible obstacles.

It's so funny how simply dropping slopes in a place where they don't belong can make a fight as difficult as one where the screen is filled with lasers and saw blades. I know why it happens (slopes are a pain in the butt when it comes to platformers, like many devs team cherry decided they weren't worth the trouble to design around, and a consequence is that scripts don't account for the way they redirect momentum)
But context or not that doesn't make Zote sliding back and forth at sonic speed any less hilarious

I love how simple yet effective the ramp rooms are.
what we can learn from this: gruz mother is canonically a filthy spawn camper, gorb is a brilliant engineer, soul warrior is a combo master, lost kin can moonwalk, ogrim can do the cha-cha slide, and sly's a gardener.
Also, Brooding Mawlek grows mushrooms, and the nailmasters also have shade cloak apparently
This is giving me a new appreciation for how fair all of HK's bossfights are lol. What is this saw blades on top of spawn nonsense
This mod seems half-good, half "what if we add turbo jank and SAY it's hard."
I think half is a bit more good than this mod has. The vast majority of the traps are there for one of these reasons:
1. Unavoidable damage
2. Cheaply doubling any hit's damage
3. Taking away all but one of the player's options to artificially boost difficulty
I disagree, the only downright unfair one was Uumuu, the other bosses looked like they had a good bit of thought put into them to trip up the player

1. A vast majority of damage was very much avoidable. Almost all the unavoidable damage is the respawn damage.
2. ??? What does this even refer to?
3. ... Literally every aspect of a video game is artificial, yeah? Like by definition, right? Or are you trying to say that the mod was somehow non-genuine? How does that happen?
And like, a vast majority of these traps only increase the difficulty of all your options, and don't particularly intend to limit them. Unless you count reducing the area, tightening your movement windows, reducing your attack windows and reducing your dodge windows "limiting your options", cause like, that and increasing damage dealt is how you're supposed to add difficulty in the first place. Those are the exact things that make the difference between easy and hard bosses, pretty much universally.
Most additions were more like:
1. Reducing the area you can move in, requiring you to pull off tighter movement to escape attacks.
2. Putting traps in areas you're supposed to move in, so that you need to multitask on the boss and avoiding the traps.
3. Funny gimmick
Pretty much all of the traps added were clearly added with thought to the boss that you're actually fighting. Sly, a great boss focused around avoiding fast but fair attacks? Reduce the arena area so that the player needs to more thoroughly master his attacks through tight movements. No particular gimmicks necessary at the core fight. Then add a little extra horizontal room but with sawblades, so that the player can choose to expand their playable if they want but at higher risk.
False knight, who you're supposed to dash under constantly? Make the dash tighter by adding a void gate thing. Also prevents people from killing this otherwise very quick-to-die boss too fast by walling him off from some attacks.
Grub mother, where you have to slightly sidestep her slow charge attacks? Force people to sidestep in greater increments and add on-off traps that force you to pay more attention during your sidestepping.
Radiance, where the second stage is all about jumping up to Radiance at the top quickly? Make it outright parkour.
And it was also largely balanced around the difficulty of the boss. Pretty much all the batshit crazy differences were put on the easiest bosses.
Sure, there were absolutely flaws: Uumuu in general, Markoth being bugged, a lot of fights having unavoidable respawn damage (fortunately fixed in Galien's fight), Radiance crystals, etc. However, there was clearly a lot of thought put into most aspects of the mod and I think the mod creator deserves way more credit than people here give them.

I just loved how Broken vessel was a easy fighr but it was made to introduce how ramps worked and them Ogrimm and Zote bring it to another level
I appreciate how much effort and time you put into these videos just to make a fun little montages everytime it takes super long
I think I finally understand why the Hollow Knight fandom likes watching this ridiculous challenge videos. It makes us feel better about all the times we died to bosses. We love the solidarity of our suffering.

Its impossible in the state its in lol, there's a lot of forced damage(you get hit as soon as you enter a fight) and abs rad fight is scuffed

The amount of calm you have is just crazy. I thought a good player could never make so many mistakes, but I feel like Hollow Knight is one of those games you can never master and become perfectly in control bc no one can react perfectly in these scenarios with the precise inputs required.

Personally, I think it's really unfair that only Skurry gets hurt by the obstacles, yet the bosses are perfectly fine despite going straight through them.

the modding community: *lets spice things up a bit*
It looks like it only happened once for you, but it's an important thing that goes for all Godhome DecorationMaster arenas with conveyor belts: if you're touching a conveyor belt and win/lose a fight (so essentially if you're on one as the screen is fading to white), once you're out of the arena, every floor will be treated as if it's a conveyor until you save and quit or win/lose a fight again (as soon as you aren't on a conveyor belt when the fight ends).
To prevent it from happening in the first place you either gotta try and jump as high as you can or do the simpler option: just wall jump on any arena with walls, even if it has spikes or buzzsaws or whatever in it, because hazards won't hurt you just as the fight's ending, meaning you can simply go through them no problem in order to circumvent the glitch.
Since mods are gonna be updated for 1.5 when it comes out, I pointed out to Team Cherry the glitch in which getting hit by hazards while you're invulnerable doesn't grant you any more i-frames (thus why bosses can hit you right as you're respawning), which in the base game is only prominent with No Eyes's Ascended arena, but I really don't think it's gonna be fixed.
In other news, I have some um, insider info, that an... uhh, anonymous benefactor! Yeah! Is going to add Zote Walls (yes), mainly on the ground, to mitigate a few issues, and possibly a couple other things, but noot sure on that part.

Honestly incorporating shade gates into a boss arena sounds like it could be cool if done properly
As someone who has beaten almost all of the main game with the exceptions of, anything past the first level of the Colosseum of Fools (I don’t remember if I ever beat the second level), and the final boss (That big white bug is too hard) this is absolute insanity. I’m kinda beginning to think that either there were a lot of things in the DLC areas I didn’t know how to get to, or I missed way more in the main game than I thought I did.

It's like the final Pantheon but you take double damage and longer respawns...
By double damage i mean that when anything hits you, you WILL get thrown into a spike or a saw-blade and by longer respawns i mean that when you spawn there is a big chance that you will get hit again

honestly the hornet sentinel arena is a pretty good idea, alters the fight in an interesting way without being unfair or just spamming obstacles
its incredible how many times ive rewatched this video and how EVERY SINGLE TIME i fail to notice or remember the spikes on vengefly king's arena until skur mentions it
