    It's a beautiful place. I helped there at a charity project in 3 years each summer for 3 weeks a couple of years ago, and rode up the Khardungla from Leh in 2018. It's a very special experience

    • @danfedder1
      @danfedder1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Srinagar to Leh took about 10 days and so did the second part of the trip that you see here. Don't forget to add 4 or 5 days to adjust to elevation if you fly directly to Leh and start from there (3500 metres).

    What were the temperature ranges? And also the route? I'm thinking of taking my bike out here for few months from Chiangmai, Thailand. I'd love a few of the details!? What were some handy things for this trip? Powerbanks weren't too big of an issue, and you guys camped most of the time? Was the English speaking non existant? Did you need some handy phrases on hand? .. On tongue? Thanks much for any help, from anyone about this stuff!!! :)

    • @ashishtripathi7138
      @ashishtripathi7138 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      theshepard22 hi! I’ve done the trip on my cycle as well. Only challenge is the electricity, advisable to carry a solar panel or a large powerbank. There are military stations throughout the route so safety isn’t an issue. Temperatures sway throughout the day! It snowed couple of time while we were atop passes, otherwise it was bright and shiny (nights got cold).
      There is food and shelter available throughout however, if camping do get a sleeping mat, and a good quality tent. Carry bicycle spares (spokes, brake cables, extra tubes). Acclimatise for the altitude. All the best.

    congratulations. Doing that speaks volumes about your strength of character and your heart.
    By the way, how does it feel to cycle at 4000, 5000m of altitude? how did your body react?

    • @danfedder
      @danfedder  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously short of breath above 5000 m but fine until then. Bad headache camping above 5000 m so did not make that mistake twice.

      Cycled from Srinigar to Leh and then all around Ladakh. Four weeks.
