This film made me cry so much. The relationship, differences between two sisters were so well portrayed. The last scene which was exactly like the first scene was so beautiful. This film made me cry the way I haven't in a long time
The way they played this story out, I can empathize with Dani. Much of the "love story" was about Dani and Court. The sister just saw him on the front porch that day and they both "fell for each other" so quickly - no buildup or foundation there at all. Yes, forgiving her sister would be very difficult in this instance, however, I have to ask myself if I were the sister, would I have been able to "fall" for a boy that my little sister was so infatuated with. That's a hard one to decide on. Regardless, very hurtful to Dani.
Maureen and Court had maybe only known each other for 10 minutes before they started kissing, and saying things like "I never knew I could feel this way." It wasn't built on anything except physical attraction and their mutual feelings of loneliness and need for intimacy. If Court hadn't died, then I really don't think his romance with Maureen would've lasted more than a year or so. Once she was away at college she would have met other guys, and been busy with studying and parties and making new friends, while Court would still be finishing high school and working on the farm. I think they would both change and drift away from each other once they didn't need to feel 'loved' by someone so much. By that time, Dani would have grown up a lot and would have been able to have a relationship with Court.
Chancy Cat If I was Dani I would've at least punched Maureen in the stomach and spit on her then then go over to Court's house and scratch him across the face that would've shown both of them how much hatred I have towards both of them. So they're wrong for playing with Dani's ♥️. Also I would've start a sibling rivalry with Maureen if I was Dani.
I still remembering pulling an all nighter on a school night watching this movie. I cried and went through many emotions. I also remember getting ready for school being so infuriated with the older sister too.
Wow same, i was in middle school, practically 12 years or 13 years old, i couldn't sleep so i woke up like 3 am, turned on the tv and watched this, i got traumatized by his dead and hated her sister too, but the weirdest part is that it was one of the greatest movies i ever found, and i found it accidentally, also, since i watched the movie and didn't sleep, i was falling asleep at school and even snoring 😂
@@winonareesebro literally i was gonna watch this when i turned a teenager which i am now and i ended up watching it at like 10 years old lol and i remember being obsessed with that one scene where maureen is braiding dani’s hair 😂
me too, I was at high school (middle 90s) and a night only by chance, I watched this jewel. The actress was not famous yet, years after I release she was Reese Whitherspoon. One of films I remember time in time...
Court was being such a jerk towards Dani ever since he met Maureen..He could have atleast tried to respect her feelings even if he didn't want to reciprocate .
Court did show respect towards Danny and her feelings. But he felt she was too young, and didn't want to take advantage of her. Danny should've been a bit more understanding....She should've shown more respect for Court, considering he demonstrated he is an upright young man with integrity.....not a pedophile. That said.....The Man In The Moon is a beautiful movie.....A strong example of LOVE and COMPASSION.
tmat04 Dani is a kid no doubt about that. She would not have been to handle everything at once.Court being a grown up should have handled it in a better way.Simply chiding the kid off was him being a jerk. His way of rejection was plain rude!HE should have atleast tried to explain himself to her.All he did was act like a jerk.
***** He was only rude to her once. And when he met Maureen, he began to ignore her. Yes, I would agree that he could've handle things better. But what if he had taken advantage of Dani, or dated both she and her sister....how would you have reacted towards that? Also, remember Court was his mom's only grown child. His father (according to the movie) was not present....His mother also did not have a boyfriend to play the role of stepfather to her sons....and, so, Court had to play the role of a father to his siblings. He was very hard-working young man.....and provided for his family. So, his position was very stressful. This is why I can overlook his behavior toward Dani.
When I was young I felt what Dani was going through because I felt so similar. Now that I’m almost 40, I love going back and remembering what it felt like to want to grow up and be a big girl, lol. Love this whole film, it’s lovely
@Ilinca Sîrbu yes it is someone’s fault. And “have a great life?” That was so sarcastic and random! It’s not that deep. Don’t be dramatic. YOU have a great life!!!!
Her sister is the worst sister in history .. I was so furious like really that's your sister you knew how she felt ..smh if they ever remake this movie they should write the sister out dani and court deserved better👏👏😭😭👏
Fr i remember watching this with my older sister who is also a few years older than me and i asked her if shed do that and she was like hell nahh we both hated her character
Just knew about this movie today, and finished it today as well. All I can say is, it's a story full of what if's. And a story about wrong timing. If they met a few years older (let's say Dani being 18 and Court being 21) maybe it could've worked out for them. But life, will always be that way. There will always be Maureen's in our lives whom we are obligated to forgive. And there will always be Court's in our lives, who won't stand up for the feelings you both have build up for each other, and Court's who are our "The one that's not meant for us" kind of person. Haaaays. What a life.
And I never ever liked that line Dani's father told her about Maureen feeling more pain than her. I don't like people who make it seem that they're the one who deserves to grieve more.
YOu know, the older sister knew Court for like 2 days and she was in love with him.. Dani knew him longer and loved him longer. And the older sister was "in more pain!" I love this movie, but the older sister annoyed me. And Court did too because he was cruel to Dani after he met her sister!
When I first watched this movie I agree with y'all but watching it 100 times after that the older sister new court first Danny was still in her mom's stomach when court and Marine knew each other they used to play in the playground or sandbox or whatever they said and then they moved I think I might have to go back and watch it again but I think he said that he liked her before they left I'm not sure but anyways yes Danny has the right to be upset but I feel like Marine loved him more because she knew what love was and couldn't find it and like she said it's like she's been waiting for him. Waiting for him to come back to her . I feel Danny more because her sister was 3 years older than her but my aunt was 4 years older than me and every boy that I liked liked her and I hated it so I started dating boys and other schools or in different towns
Roger Ebert effused on this film and gave it 4 out of 4 stars. The film was the start of Reese Witherspoon's career and the final chapter in Director Robert Mulligan's. A 25 year career that started with To Kill a Mockingbird shortly after he started out. He did brilliantly here.

I watched this movie yesterday and it was very difficult to accept court's death. On the other hand, I felt that all the previous events would have led to this point. At one point in the movie, Danny's sister, Maureen, said that she only wanted true love, and then she fell in love. With court, as for Dani, she is just a teenager who is eager to experience the feelings of love. Wow. Such negative comments on Maureen, Dani's sister. She was a good young woman. In fact, her and Court fit well together. They were both good, respectful, caring people. I think it showed the realities of a young girl's first crush/puppy love of an older guy who treated her nicely by not taking advantage of her. He knew she was too young for him, and it seemed right that Maureen and Court would go together, after the jerks she ran into on the last date, including the date's father. I feel sorry for your siblings if you have any. That’s a scumbag move on Maureen’s part if you ask me. This movie got me in mixed emotions. There's just something about old movies that just feels right. Don't know if it's the nostalgia but it's always refreshing to watch. I'm gonna watch this again, like tonight
14 is middle school, 8th grade, age. We were dating and falling in love at that age. At the beginning of the movie, when the two families meet up. Court's mother mentioned that Dani's mother was in love with her father when she was 13 and he was 17. They ended up together. Dani and Court had a nice relationship. Of course boys his age are hormonal and despite those instances, he knew he couldn't do anything with her. That doesn't make their relationship less valid. Maureen should have been more respectful of her sister. I would have been pissed if my sister did that to me. I had a similar experience when I was Dani's age. When I turned 15 and he was 18, he took me on a date, but he was headed off to college so that was that. Lol
not to hate or anything I’m glad you made this but this wasn’t a trailer anyone coming here too see the movies trailer is just going to get the movies highlights spoiled for them
I can still vaguely remember this film. It was obvious that Reese Witherspoon would become a star, just like Natalie Portman in "The Professional" and Kristen Stewart in "Adventureland."
I think I'm in love with a boy who's older then me by four years but I don't think he knows but I wish he felt the same but he's one of my brothers close friends and I can't tell him or it will be way to weird so I don't know what to do but I can't stop thinking about him ugh I hate this 😍😥😔💔

No sabía claro pero como no si ellas eran las actrices de antes , y el un guapo, peor la recordaba y nunca supe cómo buscarla y apenas hace un año la encontré investigando en Google. Ahora se su nombre y quienes son, solo dos por encima faltan .

Yeah the character maureen is actually supposed to look better than dani but i think reese witherspoon as an actress is prettier than the other actress. I mean look at her now
Literally, during whole movie I was thinking how average she looks. She is very beautiful, but nowhere near great seductress, the way she is described in the movie, she is really not all that...🤷♀️
I was not expecting everyone to be so mad Dani’s fantasy relationship didn’t work out I mean she’s 14, of course the hormonal 17 yr old and hot sister will get together 😂😂😂 it flew over my head to root for Dani but I did see her as just a kid…. She ran everywhere instead of walked, I think that also represented she wasn’t actually a “grown up” to understand what she was doing.
This film made me cry so much. The relationship, differences between two sisters were so well portrayed. The last scene which was exactly like the first scene was so beautiful. This film made me cry the way I haven't in a long time

Lol
not to hate or anything I’m glad you made this but this wasn’t a trailer anyone coming here too see the movies trailer is just going to get the movies highlights spoiled for them
Well that was heartbreaking 😢
This movie is a gem
watching it after years again. the older sister is a traitor!!! I hate her.😢
this movie was so good ❤
I cried
This is the movie i saw as a child i thought it was so tragic, i don't remember anything else but tragic.
I still love this movie!!
I watched this in the 90s and specifically remember it. I was a kid too so it's ok.
Video title says "HD"; maximum resolution is 360p. Rrrrrrrright.
I can still vaguely remember this film. It was obvious that Reese Witherspoon would become a star, just like Natalie Portman in "The Professional" and Kristen Stewart in "Adventureland."
Happy 30th anniversary to this movie
I think I'm in love with a boy who's older then me by four years but I don't think he knows but I wish he felt the same but he's one of my brothers close friends and I can't tell him or it will be way to weird so I don't know what to do but I can't stop thinking about him ugh I hate this 😍😥😔💔
So, have you told him?
So that's what the 90's are like
No, that took pace in the 40s.
@@sweetguy19762 The story took place in 1957
xxXxCherish LoveXXxx ohhhhhh I thought they I’m so stupid😂

Hahahaha yes!
Why did I watch this movie?! I’m crying I hate the older sister.
Thank you
My favorite movie i think about it everday :)))
Just watched it today. It was amazing 💙
Just finished the movie and I have crying for like 2 hours and also I have hatred for Maureen
Never seen this movie before as I was born the year this was made. Watching this trailer made me tear up a bit and would like to watch it. Anyone know where I can watch this
Hollywood traumatizing me at a young age. 😢
J'aime beaucoup ce film😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Love this movie 🎥
The older sister is not even pretty
BAHAHA grow up you pathetic child.
Really? She's gorgeous!
Yeah the character maureen is actually supposed to look better than dani but i think reese witherspoon as an actress is prettier than the other actress. I mean look at her now
Literally, during whole movie I was thinking how average she looks. She is very beautiful, but nowhere near great seductress, the way she is described in the movie, she is really not all that...🤷♀️
this movie gave me trust issues 😭
Un film bellissimo che non avevo mai visto prima del Corona Reese già bellissima da ragazzina Emily fantastica e Jason bravissimo
Her name is Reese Witherspoon not Corona Reese Thankyou!
Superbe film.
Beautiful Reese ♥️
I've never seen this but I need to.
But hearing about it....I'm also afraid to.
INTRODUCING Reese Witherspoon!! Holy crap!
Happy sad movie
I auditioned for this movie
REESE WITHERSPOON GET OUT HERE LOL !!!
3 years gap but I do ship them ❤
I was not expecting everyone to be so mad Dani’s fantasy relationship didn’t work out I mean she’s 14, of course the hormonal 17 yr old and hot sister will get together 😂😂😂 it flew over my head to root for Dani but I did see her as just a kid…. She ran everywhere instead of walked, I think that also represented she wasn’t actually a “grown up” to understand what she was doing.
look up where jason london (court) is now. LOL
i just did, and boy... *speechless*
And that’s how Reese Witherspoon became Legally Blonde.
