Hi, a quick question for you if you have time: our male DDB is just over a year old and still very much in 'puppy mode'- very energetic and playful. Our first baby is due in about a month's time. In your experience, are DDBs generally OK around newborns? We aren't worried about him being aggressive, but just that a 50kg lump in 'play mode' is quite a wrecking ball! Is he likely to be jealous of the attention the baby will get? Will he instinctively understand that baby is a part of the family? Last question, will de-sexing calm him down, and if so at what age do you recommend? We've heard that you shouldn't de-sex a Mastiff until 18 months, and that a year is too young?
It's best to talk to your breeder, get to know the lines, and the health behind your girl, get her booked in for health testing and get your breeder to mentor you 😊
