PSA - if you are using the clionid farming method, they gain a 1 shot ability (Buccal Cones, deals 100% of target's HP) if they eat 3 of the leeches, so be sure to reset them often
There's basically a circuit you can do by just running and baiting, the groups being far enough to reset them, I never bothered with killing the clionids
One bit of content that I have found some of these spells to be more appealing is in soloing map dungeons. - I can use Mighty Guard with Basic Instinct, so Goblin Punch is hitting harder. - Adds are immune to Ram's Voice/Ultravibration, so most of the new spells are very useful against them. - Although Force Field is very unreliable, I like to pop it before the boss's tank busters and follow that cast with a precast Gobskin. If the TB is magic damage, then Force Field either protects me from the TB's damage or it protects against the auto attacks that follow it. If the TB is physical, then Force Field at least has a 50% of helping with the most risky part of soloing map portals.
Goblin Punch is a nice spell to have for soloing maps on Blue Mage, since you'll have Mighty Guard and Basic Instinct up. You'll get the full 320 potency.
Keep in mind that BLU are powerful at farming FATEs and they can use a lot of spells that can be useless in duties (ie the peat pelt/deep clean combo), and now we can farm bicolor gems from ShB FATEs.
I did the Clionid method for my second BLU levelling, but my first was with a group of three other friends and we used the cave at the top right of Kholusia; starting right at the back, swinging right into the Salt Elementals at the back and clearing all of them out, at which point the route reset. Was great for power levelling in a group away from everyone else.
10:00 I am pretty sure percentage based damage dealing abilities are considered instant death for immunity purposes. A mob that is immune to instant death will also be immune to missile. I think what you mean is if a mob pull is immune to deep freeze.
A very important thing to keep in mind.. Have your homepoint set at a nearby aetheryte just in case. I say this because those Clionids in the Tempest will turn around and one-shot your butt the moment it eats 2 or 3 of those leeches (can't remember the exact number). At any rate, you'll know 'cause the Clionid will about double in size so be ready to ditch it when it does. Edit: Yeah 3. If they eat 3 leeches they will grow and one shot you if you're within melee range.
Solo leveling in the Tempest is doable down to about the mid 50s. Highly recommend setting your home atheryte since you’ll be much easier to ko. Source: me, having the greatest leveling experience of my life. I wonder how low level you can be and still solo level in the Tempest…
fun fact: with all the cool spells we got so far, you can now very comfortably solo dungeons even if it might be a bit slower at higher levels especially with how hard ShB tank busters hit. Source: me, as I usually can't deal with people and BLU pf is littered with newbies or just bad players for some reason. At the very least, the first boss spells are all very easily gotten this way; you could even unsync without level sync for the echo buff and just do them a few times until you get it!
To add as well, at least 1 boss from every shb dungeon is weak to missle. With spells like breath of magic and goblin punch makes soloing way way better. Pelt and sweep combo for the regen is hit or miss but a 15 second powerful regen when enemies are frozen can be nice if they dont die to fast. And found you can solo titania but itll take 30 mins if your on healer stance, need to test on tank since you shouldnt need to heal as much.
I keep hearing good things about mimicry, but I'm unsure how good it is. Like, are you supposed to go through a town hitting it on every player or what? And does it change your role until you use it again?
slightly slower but you can solo level from 70-80 in about 2 hours with acorn bomb + doom and the a rams voice + ultra vib just need to cycle through the zones to maintain mobs of your own level
The biggest thing this patch adds is basically the level cap and level 80 content. Goldor was FINE, there are some new solid spells. But the hardest hitting thing in the game is still mf+w+t+tt as far as I can tell. he quest line kinda sucked a lot, probably the most disappointing yet. If they tied Goldor to CT or the thirteenth or something maybe it'd be more interesting, but holy crap it was... why did they write this.
I enjoyed it - it wasn't about the overall 'goal' (finding an opponent for you) to me, but some growth and showing of Martyn's personality. Dude has a *lot* of pride and it goes to show he's far more capable than his general demeanor gives off - it's endearing, in a way. And while there is an edge of disappointment regarding no story tie to the First, at least, I also don't mind that they *didn't* try, as it might have been easy to fuck up and make worse.

So long as you have acorn bomb/sleep and an instant cast spell, you can probably be level 1 and do it so long as you are smart with kiting.
