Ah, they closed the video with a bit of "The Low Highway," one of Steve's best observational songs. That song alone would be reason enough to sign up. Great songwriting. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the production, arrangements, and choice of musicians on his records is excellent.
Adventures of BDnDoug LOL! Yeah, I guess that’s true. I’ve written songs before just not ones as good as Steve Earle! Are you a songwriter? Send me a link!
@@rowdyhoo Yeah, I write. If I were to attend a songwriting course , it wouldn't be one given by Steve Early. It would be by someone I consider elite: Gilmour & Waters (these guys do something that is usually done only in classical compositions: write chord progressions to fit their melodies. Most songwriters write chord progressions & then write melodies that fit the progression) , Sting (some of his lyrics are absolute poetry), or, more contemporary, Gregory Alan Isakov (it's amazing what this guy does with his lyrics - I mean, who writes a song that sounds like a love song but it's titled, & about, "The Universe? Or, The Stable Song ... gorgeous lyrics) Listening to this guy really opened my mind to the endless possibilities you can do with lyrics. And, made me realize that it's okay to go from get away from linear/connected story-lines.
@@rowdyhoo So true. Here's some of the stuff I recorded in my in-house studio. I studied jazz - learned my theory in the discipline - but have never written anything in the genre. My compositions are all over the place. These days, I'm doing more singer/songwriter, finger-picking stuff. Anyway, I played all the parts in the recording & used a drum machine. The best of the recordings are on Lady be Mine, Different Perspective & So it Seems Clear. Enjoy! donster74.bandcamp.com
I never learned to write songs, I'm only 73 but pickin' everybody else's great songs the ones that mean the most to me is the one's I learned by ear ? whatever that means
Camp Copperhead 2018 was great. Steve really is a great teacher.

Would love to go to that songwriting camp taught by Steve Earle!
Todd W you don’t need a songwriting workshop from anyone to write songs. It’s easy stuff that pretty much anyone can do.

Adventures of BDnDoug You’re right. Lotta ways to write a song. Thanks for the recommendation.

Good job
Well he's qualified, that's for sure, wrote the best song ever "guitar town"
If I could see your face again...that may be his best....but ranking songs is silly. Steve has lots of 'best' songs.
Hmmm sounds like a fun time...
I get the impression Nashville is full of song writer guitarists
Where’s all the good songs ?
"Steve Earl, Steve Earl, please write a song for me. I promise I won't take a dime when it come my time to leave" Great interview lol
Rad.
Zippy fone
If your a better songwriter now. Why are all your hits from your twenties? Because cocaine is a hell of a drug. 😉
so arrogant.
