    I've put exactly 1200 rounds of AAC 77gr OTM and 160 rounds of their Sierra Matchking 77gr loading through my 11.3" AR, mostly suppressed. The only times I've ever grouped it was to zero at 50 and then to see what my POI shift would be. Both were roughly 3/4" with 5 shot groupings. It has been reliable, and I've made very consistent hits out to 400 yards on a full size steel silhouette. I Chronographed it once, and it was right around 2475 fps suppressed (+/-10). I don't recall the exact average, standard deviation, or extreme spread though. Should've wrote it down. I'd like to see a Gel test with it vs their Matchking loading. I'd also like to see if it(their in house made 77gr load) will reliably frag/open up at varied velocities/distances. If it will, It'd be hard to argue against it for a standard cartridge to keep plenty of at it's cost vs the Matchking loading. Good Video man.

    When comparing 55gr vs the heavier weight 77gr wouldn't the twist rate of the barrel affect accuracy as well at range, aside from the normal factors that would affect accuracy. The 1/9 twist rate for 55gr isn't what you'd want for the 77gr which would prefer a 1/7 twist rate

    To be fair, putting "precision" gasoline in a car that's designed to play music better than it drives, you'll get "less than precision" results.
    You sort of need a precise gun to fire precise ammo if you want precise results. That thing is kind of a shotgun.

I bought a case of Federal Auto Match for cheap from an auction and was seriously disappointed. They were new rounds and I still had jams and fly aways. How is it possible for a bullet to fly a foot away from where I was aiming? I actually had a round bounce off a gourd at 50 yards, maybe you should give a gourd a try on your channel. Surely with todays technology & precision equipment AAC could figure out a way to increase accuracy by decreasing the standard deviations you were seeing. First of all, the majority of that is the guy behind the trigger, secondly it’s not just programming difference, it’s the type of powder used, tolerances accepted in loading and making the bullets. If the dies and tooling used are only made to such a tolerance than you get what you get. If the scales used are only accurate to +- 1 grain than that’s what you get. Nothing in programming dude

  • @Spushed
    @Spushed หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Training time. 1:7 is NOT required for 77 grain. 1:8 twist works perfectly fine at stabalizing 77 grain rounds. The gun used in this video is not used for precision work, this is more akin to average manufacturers assembled firearms. Other content creators have netted 1 MOA or better with better firearms.

    Well, I wouldn't start off by saying my barrel is not precise and then complain about the precision received. Secondly, the SD will not effect precision at 100y. Lastly, good video. Keep up the hard work.

    • @TheOldFatDadGoober
      @TheOldFatDadGoober  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for watching! The effects of SD on accuracy is basically witchcraft. Googling around, I found this article:
      precisionrifleblog.com/2015/04/18/how-much-does-sd-matter/
      From his results, I think it would be possible to estimate what kind of spread to expect at 100 yards.
      His results were from 1000 yards on a 20" target. The spread with 20 fps SD was greater than the target, with many shots off above and below. 100 yards is a factor of 10 less than 1000, so I'll also reduce our target size by a factor of 10 which gets us to 2". The SD on this ammo was (at least) twice as much than what was tested in the article creating a spread of potentially greater than 4". I think that it's fair to say that the level of SD I measured would be a factor in the size of the groups and a lower SD would result in much smaller groups, even at 100 yards. Of course, this all depends on whether you believe in witchcraft or not.

    • @Way2Evl
      @Way2Evl 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheOldFatDadGoober Your argument cannot be justified because you are not shooting a laser beam with an SD to affect group size. Just like saying with extreme SDs you could never shoot a sub MOA group. Barrel, trigger, stability and shooter all play a factor. Furthermore, if you reverse engineer it, there is ammunition with very tight SD's that have very poor precision at 100ys. So I stand by my statement that SD does not effect precision at 100yds.
