This guy has EVERYTHING a player can wish for and he uses those abilities to absolutely perfection. Softer passages played with deep emotion and a beautiful touch, the faster ones fiercely and with fire. I can't think of anyone that can make a transcription this good and play it this well live. Not even Horowitz or Cziffra. I am gobsmacked. What an incredible human being.

Liszt didnt do any transcription i think, he did a lot of fantasys, reminiscenses, paraphrasis. Those kind of pieces are more liberal than a transcription.
@@LucasPedd Actually Liszt did do a fair number of transcriptions. His arrangements of Beethoven Symphonies are reckoned to be very faithful to the originals, and there are also extracts from Verdi and Wagner operas, as well as songs by Schubert and Schumann. He was very generous to other composers, playing his arrangements of their works as a way of advertising them to the public, back in the days just before there was any possibility of recording music. He was very skilled at such transcribing, and of course he would have played these arrangements spectacularly well.
Horowicz may have passed on; but now we have Gryaznov. His control of his instrument and his ability to draw from it the greatest thunder to the lowest whisper moves out of the realm of the rational into the realm of the mystical.
As of three days ago, there were still tickets to hear this superb pianist in New York City; Monday March 6 in Carnegie's Weill Hall. This man should be filling the main hall!
Listening again to this glorious transcription, played to perfection, by the supremely talented Gryaznoff. Really, not even Liszt could top this piano solo that is totally orchestral.
I don't even know what to say. Never have I been so completely convinced by both transcription and playing at the same time. The transcription is stunning; it pushes the piano farther toward having the effect of an orchestra than anything I have ever heard, with just the right amount of fill in all the right places. The added notes always heighten the emotional drama of the composition, and are never there just for show. The playing is, needless to say, superb in every way, completely musical and convincing with rock-solid rhythmic sense and gorgeous long lines. This guy is a super-genius and should be a household name among pianists. Thank you so much for sharing.
I only discovered Vyacheslav Gryaznov not so long ago. I've heard this very video probably well over 30 times and every time I'm more and more amazed, mostly by the cleanliness of some specific parts. Simply incredible.

Amazing transcription and playing - highest maestry and taste level! Wonderful voicing and dynamics across without unnecessary rushing or show-off re virtuosic capabilities! Flawless continuation of melodic line shifts between both hands and so on…! Def reminds me of a nice Rachmaninoff quote - „music = controlled emotions“.
