The new Apple Watch SE will actually perform better than the Series 8 since it's less demanding, but the performance is gonna be negligible in most cases. just to add here I am wearing my g shock everyday and I guess I will need be prepare for "charging my watch almost everyday" (as you mentioned in other previous video) 🙂
I actually bought both the Apple watch 8 and The SE2. I bought the Watch 8 first and realized that the features I needed were on the SE2 for about $250 less because Verizon only offer the Cellular and GPS models, an additional $180 yearly plus tax. I never opened the Apple 8 and sending it back to Verizon, the SE2 I bought directly from Apple, had the watch in less than 24 hours; super fast delivery. I do not need the cellular watch because I alway carry my Iphone and two cellular devices on me at one time is a bit of over kill.
I am still using my Apple Watch Series 3 which was purchased in Jan 2018. Although it is running slow now, it is still doing good during my workout. The battery is still at 93% of peak performance. Personally, I will wait till next year for the Series 9, and I am looking forward to some big changes in the S9 model.
Getting my SE tomorrow. I really see no point in getting the 8 since all I want to do is track my activity. The smaller screen isn’t that big of a deal to me and isn’t worth the extra $200 upgrade just for that.
You are about the only person that made mention of the fact that the S2 does NOT have a keyboard which may be a deal breaker for many people. As always, great vid.
The difference in the display with the screen going right to the edge in the 8 is the deciding factor for me. Just looks so much cleaner and better than the SE
I went for the Series 8 because I have not upgraded since Series 3. Figured it’s time. I was tempted by the Ultra, but decided against it because it seems pretty bulky. YMMV.
Exactly what i want to do but I'm torn between the se and the series 8. Do i need all those health functions? Do i need better performance? What if the se dies sooner than expected? Those are what i have to consider still. What do you think i should do?

I was really confused between SE and watch 7 last year and I’m so glad I went with SE.I have been using my SE for the last one year along with my iPhone 13 and I must say it’s great. I don’t like the always on display so Series 7 didn’t have much to offer over SE. Got the 41mm gold one with milanese loop and it looks lovely.
You don’t need to keep the always on display enabled. I was debating between the SE and 7 as well. Tested the SE for about 2 months and traded it in for the 7. Haven’t looked back since
I was originally going to get the S8 because I love to have as many features but after watching this and thinking about for a moment, it looks like Ill be going with the SE!
But what if you decide after let’s say 3 months that you miss always on display feature? You’re gonna sell it and lose money on such transaction? Come on
@@PiErDzoncy7 Hey mate. I’ve had my SE2 since Christmas and I gotta say, I don’t care about the always on display. I’m really happy with my SE2 as is. It does everything I need.

Hi dear Greg, I currently still have my Apple Watch Series 3; in constant use and in impeccable, pristine perfect condition as has always been well looked-after by myself. Should I perhaps consider an SE Watch, please ? ~ Thank you.
I honestly just wanted the watch to connect my airpods when I go for a run and not carry my phone. I don't see myself using it very often so I will be choosing the SE as my first watch.
I’m looking to buy an Apple Watch for the first time, I currently own a iPhone 12, is the crash detection on the series 8 a solid reason to buy or should I get a series 7
I've pre-ordered a Series 8 last Thursday. Never had a smartwatch, so I am curious if it'll impact my life, health and fitness. The bigger screen and the native keyboard gave it the edge over the SE.
A bigger screen isn't necessarily better when it comes to smartwatches. It depends on how big your wrist is. The largest size Apple Watch will look bulky and stupid on a person with a small wrist. And even some people with bigger wrists prefer the smaller screen because it weighs like 2x less than the bigger option. Best thing to do is just try it on in the store to determine your preference.
Does anyone know if there is an improvement from the old Apple Watch SE to a newer version (7, 8, new SE) in terms of the loudness of the speakers? I "hate" to hold up my arm when using it for a phone call to be able to understand the other person. And no, normally I use phones or AirPods for calls, but sometimes it's not possible. Thanks for your help!
This was an amazing review! You explained the differences so clearly. Thank you!! I will be getting my first Apple watch today. I think the SE would be a great choice right now, especially since the chip is exactly the same as the 8. I don’t need all the features the 8 provides lol. Will keep you posted on my thoughts once I get it! 😊
I don’t have a Apple Watch as yet but plan on owning one, however I would really like to get some feedbacks wit experience users on this watch with how many years will my $400 watch last for? How long until the battery degrades wit daily uses? And wats it like having to take off you watch everyday or two to charge it back up?
1st time having a Apple Watch . Trying to decide between the SE 2 (would only be paying $15 a month ) or the Series 8 ( about $35) both cellular the only reason I'm not 100% for SE is no keyboard 😩 . I don't care for all the extra health . I'll be using it for the basics lol. What would you recommend?
If the SE had the temperature detection for cycle tracking I would be sold! But that and the bevel size are the only things keeping me interested in the series 8. 🤪 but I don’t think either of those things make it worth the extra $150
I’ve had the se for a few days now and I love it. I got the watch to track calories more accurately when I work out and through the day, some of the other features are pretty cool such as the heart rate monitor and tracking sleep. If you’re just looking for something simple the se is great
did you get the se 2 or se? I'm currently on the market for a new apple watch and i've been binging on review videos lol So just asking around for some recs :)
This video is so helpful! I've been weighing the differences between Apple Watch Series 8 and the new SE. You stated the differences so clearly and effectively. Thank you!
Upgrade from a Apple Watch 3 to the new SE. Absolutely love it. Fortunate to not need all the other fancy health benefits the 8 offers and all I really wanted was a newer watch to track workouts/fitness rings. Perfect 👍
That's all I want, too. Never owned one before, but SE seems like the perfect choice since all I want to do is close my rings! I don't need any fancy bells and whistles, just the great motivation the Fitness app brings me. 😊
Don’t know why but the slimmer bezel makes me want the S8 much more tan SE, I get it the save on money but preferred the slender look even if it’s the same dimensions on paper.
I’ve never owned an Apple Watch before. Does anyone know how responsive the watch is when utilizing the wrist turn since the SE doesn’t have always on display? Because if it’s buggy or pretty slow then that could be a deal breaker for me
I just want a watch (doesn’t necessarily have to be an Apple Watch) for exercise (heart rate, gym, biking, etc. so that I can use it with Strava). I don’t care about notifications or anything else Apple-related. If the SE2 is the best choice for me, I can dig it but if not suggestions for something else?
I am planning to buy an apple watch but still unable to decide on what model. I have irregular heart beat (pulse missing very rarely). What I am scared of is that whether these watches will unnecessarily alarm me for seeking urgent medical attention while I am driving. Keeping this in my mind, I think SE will be ideal for me.
I ordered the Series 8 in stainless steel. A bit annoying that it's the same price as the Apple Watch Ultra, but at the same time the Ultra was really no option for me (it's just way too big and bulky).
Just brought my first Apple Watch. Chose the SE 2nd Generation. Also, have a Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch. I wear them both. Health wise, whatever one won’t do, the other will. Love them both.
Does anyone know if the temperature sensor is good for anything besides measuring ladies monthly cycles? At the beginning of COVID, it would have been handy to see your body temperature on your wrist
How long does the battery last? Compare to a Fitbit? I know some people don’t like Apple Watches because you have to charge everyday compare to fitbit.
Still rocking my series 4, really want to upgrade and waited for the series 8, but clearly the 7 will be a more financially sound option given the limited/non existent benefits of the 8…. The ultra, not needed and clearly the second iteration of the ultra in a years time will make this one redundant anyhow….. so Black Friday, I will be shopping for a well priced series 7….. but do I get a green one or a blue one?! 🤔🤔
@@theapplebizz1057 Oh wow, that’s good. I’m still on my series 4, but am looking to upgrade myself and will hand my watch down to family (my mum is still using my original 1st Gen. Watch!). Blood oxygen and temperature sensing isn’t needed, but the heart rhythm tracking is (due to health reasons). I’d be happy to get a stainless steel gold series 7 for £550.
Always on display is a deal breaker for me. Still on an S3 (it refuses to die), and the lack of an AOD is annoying. For that reason, when I do replace it, it'll be the series 8 (or 9 or whatever is current at the time), but not the SE.
Do notifications show up immediately with the always on function? I can’t find any information online on if they show up instead of the watch face or if you raise your wrist and the notification then shows
I have the last gen SE for my daughter, my fiancé has the Series 5 SS, and I have the Series 7 Titanium. I pre-ordered the ultra. I'm looking forward to the brighter display, longer battery life, louder speaker for calls (when I don't have my phone on me), new navigation features, design and raised edges over the sapphire crystal. I was hoping the temperature sensor would be used to track possible signs of sickness, but obviously that's not the case.
Don’t worry I’m pretty confident that will be something that becomes a reality in a later software update. Yes Apple said as of now it’s only being utilized for womens health tracking periods and ovulation. But I’m surprised all these TH-cam reviewers keep saying that’s all it will be used for and probably isn’t important for anyone else. Especially someone who specializes in reviewing Apple products. We have seen this countless times where these features turn up in future updates. That’s not to put you down Greg. I love your videos, keep up the great content! 👍🏻 and good luck with your Apple Watch ultra. Pretty jealous. Maybe in the future I’ll be able to drop the cash for one. Cheers 🍻
I am prone to heat stroke, and I thought the temperature tracking would alert me before I get too hot and faint or for me to keep an eye on my own rising temperature. But to tell me about my nonexistent eggs, it's pointless. Although I would be interested in the always-on screen. But an extra $150 for that is steep.
SE is what I’d like to get. Am only using it for travel to avoid using my iPhone in public especially now a days and most especially in Asia, iPhone is high risk in public. Thanks for this video. Helped me to decide which is more practical 😊
Heey!! I am going to the gym so for me the accuracy of calories are really important. You said that the 8 series has better sensors or something like that. To be honest that’s the only thing that s keeping me from buying the SE version and I would like to know if there s any difference between that as specifically posibile 😊😊😊 (by that I mean if you could give me an example if that s the case). ( english is not my mother language and I hope that everything I said is right *sorry for possible mistakes*) ❤️
Excellent and to the point video. I think i’ll go for SE as my first apple watch. As i dont need the fancy stuff, will use it fir fitness only and wear my regular watch for office and formal occasions. Thanks
Preordered the new se, cuz I really need that heart rate sensor for running, and as a college student and for my experience I don’t necessarily need that always on display (when I need to know the time walking, I’ll have to raise my arm anyway, and when I’m sitting I have the laptop for time)
Just upgraded from my series 3 38mm to a series 8 45mm. Only reason why, the series 8 was 409.99 for Prime Day on amazon. Price from Apple 569.99 (CANADA pricing)
Does the Apple 8 watch come with the Glucose Monitoring? I heard rumors that it was suppose to have it, but I can't find any confirmation that it did have that feature. With Dexacom 7 running $70 every 10 days, the glucose monitoring would be worth it weight in gold to me.
Great video. I'm still using an AW series 3 and it's impossibly slow. I've never been a big fan of the AW, and only use it at the gym, so I don't feel like spending a lot of money on a disposable accessory would be very wise in my case. The fact that the SE has the latest chip makes it very enticing, especially at that price point. Looking forward to seeing one in person when it eventually gets released here in South Korea.
I have a series 3, but I believe upgrading to the SE2 is a better choice for me. Cost less, and there are features on the series 8 I don’t need. If I want a constant display on my watch, I will wear one of my “real” watches.
I’m on the old SE, which has had some issues (supposedly repaired by Apple) but still not ideal. Thoughts on the Series 7, vs the new SE (45mm)? Thanks!
I had the Apple Watch SE for around 7 months. I just upgraded to the Apple Watch Series 8. There is two features I can’t use (Blood Oxygen App) and ECG App. Apple says “People under 18 and 22 don’t need to use these apps.” Well, where did it say that when I bought it? I think that pert is stupid. Otherwise, I’m happy with my Series 8 upgrade.

How is the sleep tracking on the Apple Watch?
Taking my ultra back and getting the series 8 due to the weight. Yep, I’m picky. The 45mm screen does seem nice on the 8 vs the 44mm on the SE.
Does the apple watch SE 2 not have the keyboard?
Just got my Apple Watch SE over the weekend! Glad I made the right choice!
Enjoy it
I’ve got the se1 but iam not sure if I should upgrade to the series 8 can anyone help ?
I’m getting a SE, but I’m upgrading from a series 2 🤣
Honestly you’re gonna love it.
I ordered the Series 8 in stainless steel. A bit annoying that it's the same price as the Apple Watch Ultra, but at the same time the Ultra was really no option for me (it's just way too big and bulky).
Honestly for the se they just need to add dust resistant and more people would get it
Just brought my first Apple Watch.
At the beginning of COVID, it would have been handy to see your body temperature on your wrist
it helps with sleep tracking I guess
How long does the battery last? Compare to a Fitbit? I know some people don’t like Apple Watches because you have to charge everyday compare to fitbit.
Guys, What is about size of models, 41 or 45? What size more preferable for lady? Your opinions and experience.
Does Black Friday affect Apple Watch prices?? Because if it does then Im considering buying Series 7.
Had the same thought pattern as you.. I just picked up a brand new series 7 Stainless Steel in gold for £550
@@theapplebizz1057 Oh wow, that’s good.
I was kinda thinking the same thing. I’m a little disappointed they discontinued the blue for the series 8.
You’ve got the right idea
Always on display is a deal breaker for me. Still on an S3 (it refuses to die), and the lack of an AOD is annoying. For that reason, when I do replace it, it'll be the series 8 (or 9 or whatever is current at the time), but not the SE.
Do notifications show up immediately with the always on function? I can’t find any information online on if they show up instead of the watch face or if you raise your wrist and the notification then shows
Good question! I need the answer, too😊
I have the last gen SE for my daughter, my fiancé has the Series 5 SS, and I have the Series 7 Titanium.
But an extra $150 for that is steep.
what is the reason for an apple watch to have bulging battery which makes the screen to fell off?
What Apple watch was that the SE or the S8 on your wrist ?? And what size ?? Thanks in advance for such an informative and helpful video. 👏🏽
It's my first apple watch still only two days to arrive to me I'm insisting to have it that Apple watch s8 any tips guy?!
Any tips Greg?!
Excellent and to the point video. I think i’ll go for SE as my first apple watch. As i dont need the fancy stuff, will use it fir fitness only and wear my regular watch for office and formal occasions. Thanks
Is the Apple Watch SE 2022 version also having this keyboard feature? That would be amazing!
How would I differentiate between last se and new se?
Will the new SE have the qwerty keyboard available?
Which color are you wearing in the video? starlight or silver?
Latest chip? Series 6 got the same chip as se and 8 just different name
If you only use it at the gym why not go with a garmin/polar?
SE2 or Series 7? Right now the Series 7 is on sale $100 more for cellular
I got a series 3 Apple Watch, is it worth upgrading to one of these two, if so which one?
I have a series 3, but I believe upgrading to the SE2 is a better choice for me. Cost less, and there are features on the series 8 I don’t need. If I want a constant display on my watch, I will wear one of my “real” watches.
Is the Apple Watch SE worth it?
Need to pick between SE2 and Series 7
Please help
Is it normal when you raised your wrist is dimmed for a couple seconds?
does iwatch8 have glucose monitor feature?
So the SE doesn't have the keyboard?
I’m on the old SE, which has had some issues (supposedly repaired by Apple) but still not ideal. Thoughts on the Series 7, vs the new SE (45mm)? Thanks!
New se lad
I had the Apple Watch SE for around 7 months. I just upgraded to the Apple Watch Series 8. There is two features I can’t use (Blood Oxygen App) and ECG App. Apple says “People under 18 and 22 don’t need to use these apps.” Well, where did it say that when I bought it? I think that pert is stupid. Otherwise, I’m happy with my Series 8 upgrade.
