    Thanks Paul, Nice tour. I really appreciate that you weathered your cab forward. I love weathered equipment and it seems nobody weathers steam. I see a lot of old pictures and it adds to the realism. Great Video John. I may have met you at a NMRA meet here and there. Hope to see you at the SLO convention 2025. Mike Oz.

    Outstanding work, Paul. And anther fine TSG production. This is an area I want to model (some day). I was reallyu taken bu the hard water stains on the water tower. I'm working on a couple water tanks for my club, and I'll be sure to add the hard water leak stains to the models.

    I loved your layout and video, and have a question about the Santa Marguerita station. Can you tell us a bit more about building it? Did you scratch build it, and if so, what was your source material? (I recently purchased, but have not yet built, the similar but smaller SP type 18 station kit from the SP Historial and Tehnical Society). Thanks, and best wishes.

    I would just like to see more of the layout in general, less of showing maps and things but that's just me. Is there a better video of this layout where we can see just the layout in the different buildings? And also I just want to add thank you for posting

    On the building under construction... Is it that fire blocks are missing (the little horizontal boards placed halfway up between studs)? I'm pretty sure those would have been required long before 1949. That came to mind because after insulating and drywalling an end wall of my garage, I realized I didn't put any in (I guess not required for open studs) and I had to break out some drywall and add them in and then patch the drywall.

    • @curlyp2
      @curlyp2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are close. No fire blocking required for that height wall. However what is missing is similar as there was blocking required in the first 4 stud bays on the long walls for shear. 2 stud bays on short walls

    • @trainliker100
      @trainliker100 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@curlyp2 Well, I don't know these construction nuances. But since you mentioned shear, I also don't see any diagonal bracing. Don't know the requirements for that, much less what there were in 1949.

    • @curlyp2
      @curlyp2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They didn't require the diagonal bracing in the 1949 code. THey did want blocking in the first 3 stud bays on the long walls and 2 bays on short walls for shear. I don't think it was very effective. But that is what I missed.

      @@curlyp2 The easiest fix is probably to add a figure that is an inspector with a clip board writing up the oversight.

    I guess the only major missing component to this layout is the Daylight train, but it doesn't look like the layout is designed for continuous running, which I guess depictions of the "Daylight" in either HO- or N-scale (really, ANY scale) would require.

    • @curlyp2
      @curlyp2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do have 2 BLI daylights but having trouble with the trucks. I just picked up a new loco to pull one with and am workinf on the truck issue.

    • @j.w.billingsley1635
      @j.w.billingsley1635 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@curlyp2 Oh, okay. I know that BLI's new GS-4 that it released earlier this year is supposed to be one of the best to exist in HO scale, but BLI has yet to re-release its own actual Daylight train. I did see, though, that ScaleTrains, via Fox Valley Models, should eventually announce its own Daylight train (including a GS-4) sometime this coming year, if you're interested. It's from what I learned since the former MTH HO-scale Daylight cars, which these new cars are supposed to be reworked from, are still in demand.

    • @curlyp2
      @curlyp2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@j.w.billingsley1635 The new BLI loco is what I just picked up. It can handle the train fine. I will get the trucks sorted out, will just take some tinkering

    • @j.w.billingsley1635
      @j.w.billingsley1635 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@curlyp2 Right, that's what I said. It's just that BLI announced that it's not re-releasing a Daylight train to go with it like it used to offer at this time. Do you perhaps have the older BLI Daylight cars to go with your locomotive? I just wanted to know.

    • @curlyp2
      @curlyp2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@j.w.billingsley1635 Yup i have the older BLI Cars. I have added passengers. Reduced the brightness of the interior lighting. The layout siding were designed for the daylights to pass. I am running a little shorter train then the prototype.
