Happy to say as a new revit user. I havent made these mistakes. Though one one that does apply to me was the imported components. I never realized that a lot of components from wbesites arent revit made

Thanks for the informative video but I think some would mostly apply for design or consultant models only.
    1. Yes we need a Revit Template but the template should contain only annotations, titleblock and datum elements specific for the project. If you put all geometric project inside the template in would have a bigger file size. Note that when doing project, it would be split per discipline. 😊
    2. Imported categories on families for entourage and planting. If you have no choice but to use it then put it on a separate model and just linked it. 😊 We all know that there are some limitations in family creation that we have no choice but to use a dwg/sat format from supplier. 😊
    3. In-place element should be used if the building element is complicated for system families. But once everything is sorted out, we could just save the in-place as external rfa file.
    4. When working on a bigger project, planning how to split or segregate the model is very important to keep the model for having huge file size
    5. Building elements having on the right categories is one they key thing to make your model consistent and easy to manage.
Overall, thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping our fellow BIM friends. Would be glad to exchange some of my ideas and knowledge with regards to application of Revit to actual projects. Cheers!

there some times that you need to put objects from other softwares imported into revit, my example it's that i need to create lots of valves and equipment to a Cold project and you don't have time to make everything inside revit so you sent a email to the company of that valve or equipment and they sent you a STEP file that you import it into autocad to get a dwg geometry that you also import it into revit to start your family from something very accurate that helps a lot with a nice presentation.

    Biggest ones for me:
    1. Bad templating/naming rules
    2. In place families
    3. Import CAD
    4. Not saving often enough
    5. Never auditing
3 through to 5 easily cost companies the most money in the professional world when using revit.

All of these 5 mistakes, I had in mind you were going to mention. One big one that you forgot to say, is when exporting files to any other program, let's say, for rendering, is hiding elements that you do not want to export and can be added later on else where. I have seen this done in the past, and it slows down your computer, and once they try to upload it in the other software it crashes

Sometimes the dwg 3d trees are as fast or faster than revit geometry or rpc objects …

    • @trees3d
      @trees3d 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It is very very difficult to make good looking trees or cars in Revit. and when you do the extensive geometry is actually slower than having a dwg in a family.
