Xiaomi, the leading smartphone company in India for the past five years, has seen a significant decline in its market share, dropping from 21% at the start of 2022 to 16% in 2023. This has resulted in Xiaomi slipping down to the fourth position, while competitors like Oppo, Vivo, and Samsung have managed to improve their market standing. The question that arises is, what could be the possible reasons for Xiaomi's recent setback?

I was so frustrated after my redmi k20 motherboard died after update that i refused to buy a xiaomi phone, and I've had some bad experience with oppo too so i wanted something simple and long lasting, i went with Motorola edge , people complaint about the camera quality being average but i genuinely like the natural look of photos it takes and loving the smooth software experience, it's just so fast ,simple and smooth that i can't imagine going back to those slow heavy software of mi,oppo and vivo . The updates are small and reliable, i don't worry and check online before updating only to find update is killing the camera or motherboard.

you're completely wrong this time. The brand downfall reason started in 2022 just after the Redmi note 10 series. For Xiaomi Note series was the most sold series and those were most value for money. But since the Note 11 seies the price gone higher without any upgrades rather downgrade i would say. (i.e. You used to get Amoled Display+SD 678(best chip under 15K at that time)+Good cameras (Sony IMX 582 Main+ Ultra Wide + Good Macro all these under 11-12K). But now you see the Note 12 is there even after 2 Year later there is no upgrades rather downgrades (The processor is literally the same SD 685 is overclocked 678) and the 50MP camera is poor sensor. And all this at 15K.
The same happed in Note 11 also that was literally the same Note 10 with inferior cameras. And IQOO was there which provided a better value to online customers. And remember online customers aren't that dumb as you said.

I believe not having good quality phones under 15k is still a major factor in purchasing a costly phone.
Note 10 pro was the best 15k phone

Last Redmi Phone that was actually good was Note 5 Pro, i still have it as my secondary phone & still works without hangs even though i used it roughly. Even this phone was quite off against Mi A1 due to camera but everything else was nice.
Afterwards various people around me bought Note 6,7,8,9,10 or whatever Pro versions they provided but each phone was getting worse. Redmi has lost it big time, at one time samsung lost it too but they made a great comeback. Mi ig won't Make it.
I also had redmi note 5 and completed 1k subs from that phone
It was a very good phone
Note 8 pro was also a great phone, I used it from 2020 -23 April as my primary phone and now as secondary phone, it's perf is still like new
Note 6 pro is a beast.. I am commenting from that phone. So hard working phone..
It survived in my hands for 4 year and counting..
7 pro is still good bro...

I was an engineer at Xiaomi, and a major reason for their collapse is that there CBO resigned last year, the founder in India, Manu also resigned this year and the reason for this is too much of Chinese intervention in their Indian business and strategy.
I don't know about the newer Poco phone but Poco F1 is a great phone. Still rocking it 🔥

If buying online, common people usually ask tech nerds what to buy, and if offline, then shopkeepers are their tech nerds
tech nerds are low in numbers so people usually don't have a chance to ask them
And most of the time when I visited the shop to buy a phone they mostly like force me to buy vivo or oppo phone when I tell no I don't want they use tell other things

That's why I waited 8 more months for a good midrange phone with my old Motorola G4 and purchased the Samsung M51 in 2020. Now it's almost 3 years old, but still, it is working as new without any performance or battery issues. The 7000mah battery is insane.

Reason -
1: High Price
2: unstable ui
3: late software updates
4: bugs in ui
5: camera deat issue
6: still not providing under display fingerprint scanner in midrange phones
7: lack in camera quality specially in mid range and budget phones
8: too much phones of same specifications and because of that company is not able toh improve quality of there smartphone
9: poor after sell service
10 : after reading 9 mejor problems with your phones , you still need another one ! ....... 1st try to resolve above mentioned problems than try to go other sectors
The only reason people not buying is :
motherboard and camera dead issue , most of the peoples even don't know about software updates and all

Earlier Xiaomi used to compete with Samsung and delivered excellent phones reasonably priced. At that time low to mid-range Samsung phones were crap while Xiaomi came up with some incredible phones even at 6000 Rs. Now the competition is much harder, even Motorola is bringing excellent phones with much better user experience. Xiaomi couldn't keep up with their quality. They lost the game on their own. Ultimately, quality matters. Thats it.

I can't complain about Xiaomi phone I had great and an amazing experience with this phone I remember when I hardly afford this phone because of lack of money 💔 those days were extremely hard 9k was huge money, doesn't matter how bad they are, but every lower middle class guy's first phone was Xiaomi ❤
Samsung M series and F series mein bhi ab achchhe phone nikal raha hai.
One UI inka har saal aur perfect hote ja raha hai. 5G ka option har price category mein hai, aur proper 5G network bhi pakadta hai.
Poco ka Motherboard issue ek major problem ho gaya hai jo pure brand ki image kharab kar raha hai. Redmi Note 12 over expensive hai. I am not going to recommend Xiaomi phones now.
Vivo apne T series k saath online bhi achha kar rahi hai. Never used or liked Oppo phones. So Now I am happy with Samsung.
Everything is good with samsung but they stopped giving super amoled in budget phones😔

i used redmi note 5 pro for 4 years and it worked like a beast. 🔥 until the battery problem occurred which was my fault.
now i am using redmi note 11, which is easily a downgrade if compared to redmi note 5 pro.
poor camera, UI bugs and glitches etc.

I have redmi Note 10 Pro max its 2 yr old many warned before buying investing 20k in mi but i showed faith in mi it delivered in all aspects except some like hepatic feedback and heavy gaming heat issues

Idk why they are saying Miui sucks. Even though it's not customiseable, in my 7 years of Redmi Phones, I never faced a Major Bug or Issues after updates
Same brother I have poco x5 pro 5g my miui don't have any bloatware (have uninstalling option not like forced bloatware like coloros) also never faced app crash, got security update time to time , no ads, working fine not a single ad or app crash or update delay I have faced no heating issue too

I also had a motherboard failure on my poco x2 just 2 months after the warranty period.
Redmi is also in the same category... Most of the issues are caused after system updates.
The camera of my redmi note 10 pro stopped working after uodate in May. I'm switching to either one plus 11r or iPhone 13 in this sale.

Got that phone back in 2020 cause my other phone was dying. The camera was fab. Then I updated the phone and the battery was dying so bad. 3 times a day minimum charging was needed. Had to sell it within 7 months of getting it. Decided to never buy a Redmi or Mi or Poco phone ever after that.
MiUI is a pretty good UI for many people. My brother enjoys it's UI over many UI options available in market so I feel UI is also a very subjective experience
Yaa when u don't have much experience with expensive phones then MIUI may seem smooth and normal, until you use a better phone.

The only reason i don't like mi phones these day is lack of indisplay fingerprint sensor in amoled displays while other manufacturers are providing this in similar or even lower range price.
Watching this vid on my Xaomi 11lite... I would say after this recent update Miui is doing decent not worst.. Although I bought it cheap(18999) without any card benifits so I'm happy

Since I opted for no cost emi I got 1k discount also and no additional interest. I don't know which banks you were using but I didn't have to pay any additional amount.
Xiaomi should improve camera quality by optimization and better ui such as stock Android and improve service centre

The phone was very laggy .. but the camera was pretty capable but again video recording was choppy and also after a min of recording it would have started to lag .. switched to pixel 6 and there's no going back .
Any factual data on why nobody is making a handy,compact (display size under 6") phone these days?
There is a customer segment who wants a phone only for WA,fb,YT & calling.
Compact phone with 4000mAh +20W charger would keep price under 15k.
And the company making this could have a decent mkt share.

I have a xiaomi 11t pro and I have removed almost 80% of it's bloatware by using universal debloater and actually its performance and snappiness has increased and also having a clean ui

Lava is regular in software updates and gives good after sales service unlike Micromax which has so many issues

previously phones under 20k used to survive for 2-3 years , but now they start to lag after a new model comes out . that's why people are investing into iPhone , Samsung and oneplus . they have great phones under 50k and have a steady performance for years
the main reason could be they are launching phones in segment 70k too, which is not digestable, a company which was known to provide good phones in 10k budget, could have been now 15k max but 34k or 65k phones are totally not acceptable so people boycott it. They are moving to iPhone

Whoever uses a xiaomi will not buy it again,, it starts giving problems, like my volume button works by itself without touching it,, and for some other issues,,
I am running Oxygen OS 13.1. Oppo and One Plus have been merging Oxygen OS and Colour OS. But Oxygen OS is still quite good even after the merge between itself and Colour OS ... 😊

Had a Mi Mix 1, it worked fine for 6 years. Despite me dropping it like 10 times. Poco x3 pro barely lasted 2 years before dying. Poco f1 has had no issues for about 3-4 months.
Poco's reliability is very bad nowadays. Till the poco f1 it was fine.
This sucks because xiaomi has the easiest installation process for custom rom's and even offer software to do so. So you can get rid of MIUI and buy a phone for cheap and slap on pixel OS and basically get the experience of a pixel minus the camera.

the fact is if someone buys redmi phone once they will never buy it again like me and my other family members but the case is opposite with samsung and apple
I have used Redmi 9 power for 1 and half years. With gcam it used to click great photos. After 1.5 years it's motherboard went dead. Now I am using Motorola g32, i can feel the quality of motorola. Finger print scanner is too good, ui is smooth, gcam works great. Videography from stock cam is great for this price, it has software stabilizing. Pubg New State runs better than in narzo 50. There is no lag in new state.

I have used only MI phones in my lifec and even my family uses MI phones. I am a very tech aware "nerd" person. Hoestly i dont understand the hate behind MIUI, everyone says its bad, but what EXACTLY is bad!? I have never faced any major issues with it, runs smooth, and gives a lot of features!
PS: I remove all the bloatware and ads when i get a phone.
They are dumb guys they are getting great hard ware for low proce so bloat ware and ads are obvious just wuth little bit of effort we can make good experience in any ui they just dont know how to do it

I am using redmi note 10 pro and I recently go update which installed opera browser as bloatware and i can't even uninstall it. I am very happy and sad at the same time it was a great phone for 15000 but software is a big big issue.

Uper se to ab LAVA ne bhi achhe smartphones launch karne chalu kiye hai jo bahut affordable price mai milete hai aur budget mai stock android bhi dete hai. Motorola jaise brands to comeback karke pixel phones ko sidha competition de rahe hai.

Iam using poco x3pro, it's 3 years old and working perfectly. I don't see any issue in my phone, no lag Or no heating issue and ui is also not bad in this price range..... I have no regrets....
Miui 14 is actually improved a lot i have been using the xiaomi 11i 5g hypercharge for over a year now and it is a pretty good phone with a good ui experience
Sir problem with redmi is their recommendation system. They literally start showing ads on phone. And no i am not talking about youtube, facebook,insta etc. But yesterday i got to see ads of games in my messaging app. I am pissed off by that.

Have been already suffering due to Mi A3. Would recommend people to go with a better company like Samsung, instead of this Xiaomi. Also, I have noticed that the UI of most of Chinese phone are really bad, that is also a down point.
I don't think second time buyers want to spend too much extra for next phones, 2k to 5k is okay.

My First MI Phone was Redmi note 3, Then Poco F1, Now Xiaomi 11T Pro, My next phone will also be a Xiaomi - I can't use any other OS, I have tried them all and none of them are as convenient as MIUI. Speaking of blotware I have more than 200 apps on my phone - some of them I use once a year, I don't mind having un-removal apps present among these 200 apps. The problem I think is people keep all notifications ON. my phone has 10 apps which show notifications - rest 190 apps have their notifications shut down.
MIUi comes with awesome features which are missing from most android ui's. I have a Nokia tablet with stock android - I couldn't hate it more.
I have Poco M2 Pro (6/64) and I think its my best decision.
Because it recently recieved MIUI 14 update and phone runs very smooth.
My friend has it too and he has faced camera ,battery ,display issue . My mom also has a poco phone and it has lagging issue in software after 1st update and it has never resolved ,never poco again

I switched from Redmi/Xiaomi/Mi because of forced Ads and Bloatware which can't be uninstalled
The main problem is that Xiaomi in general has got a bad rep in the market coz of lack of updates and inferior quality of materials and hardware used at unreasonable prices and marketed as state of the art. And then theres lack of updates or proper tweaking of their UI. And the biggest blow has been Poco phones and their post warranty dead motherboard which Xiaomi is refusing to address when both Vivo and Oppo have improved their after sales support by leaps and bounds. Xiaomi can choose to be rigid and die or learn from its competitors. Xiaomi revolutionised the phone market, now they are just stagnating resting on their past laurels. Hope they wake up and smell the coffee before its too late.

But After update camera is not working.
Mi service centre charge me 13,000/- for Front Camera repair.
So, then I decided not to go with Mi phone any more and I switch to Samsung now.
Fact : The most Important reason is Offline in which only Oppo, Vivo and Samsung are available on finance And most of the people buy Smartphones on finance, Even shoopker also recommended them these smartphones because of finance companies

Using oppo Reno 10x zoom for last 4 years.. Full three years updated and security updates received... 5x optical zoom 10x hybrid and 60x digital zoom.. 4k 60fps video...sd 855.Amoled display. No notch or pich hole.. Full screen display.. Very good camera.. Still getting 8-10hrs SOT on normal use .Will run one more year.. Only 5g missing.... Mobile world has not moved much except for 5G

I was using Redmi 4 for 6 years and now I switched to Redmi 11 Prime.
I am not a midrange guy.
I only need a decent phone that meets my requirements and Redmi was very budget friendly for me. Yeah the offline market of redmi is very rubbish. When I went to shop to buy redmi smartphone, instead of latest Note 12, they only had Redmi 11 prime 4g but I don't mind. Processor is amazing. Screen is amazing and it's works very well. Since I am using Miui for more than 6 years now I love. Even though it's not customiseable but I like the fresh look of it. That's it.

Budget was not more than 35K samsung pasand aaya but their chipset is exynos which is worst, OPPO/VIVO I don't like at all and MI I have been using since REDMI 2 days.
