But after plowing through the manga, going through all the painful, dramatic chapters of KnY, I found this article full of true emotions. Goosebumps always. This song makes me feel stronger and I cried for those who sacrificed, crying because Tanjirou didn't give up no matter how difficult it was, and didn't abandon Nezuko. Allow me to bring to your attention the musical genius and trickery happening at the crescendo at 3:00. The song comes back alive from the chill bridge with three 4/4 bars of snare hammering (count 1- 2-3-4 with the snare at 3:02 to 3:07, you'll see), then the 4th bar with the bass lick and guitar are basically screaming "HERE COMES THE DROP", and at this point you're ready to headbang, we've all heard this move in a million other songs, we heard it at 1:01 this very song... But! The song pulls the rug from under you with a sneaky 1 beat-long drum fill (3:09), making the tempo suddenly feel 5/4, really trips you up and makes you pay attention before the crash cymbal explodes announcing beat 1 of the new bar (3:10)... only there are just 3 beats before it goes back to regular 4/4 bars accented on 1, a realization which completely resignifies what you just heard (it should click right after 3:11) as your brain hurriedly retroactively processes that there was no 5/4 bar at all, it's all 4/4 with a completely unexpected drum fill in beat 1 and a crash in beat 2 (which is just not something you ever see). It breaks musical conventions to surprise us, and if you don't smile as you hear it you're dead inside.
