My name is Gerald Peplow. I am a FAA Part 107 certified UAV pilot. This video is from my series, "My Yucaipa". I currently fly a registered DJI Mini 2 and Mini 3. This mission I flew my Mini 3, "Cong Ming Niao." Rebecca Peplow is my Visual Observer. The music is from my son Stephen Peplow.
This Video is the My Yucaipa: Uptown Yucaipa, California. Yucaipa means Green Valley or Boggy Valley depending on the translator. I grew up in Yucaipa and, after Retiring as a Master Sergeant in the USAF, came home to live in this perfect Green Valley. I am creating videos to share Yucaipa with the world. Our amazing city leadership keeps a balanced budget, invests in the community, and set the example for other cities to follow. I was flying in Class G Airspace. I practiced all flight safety rules.
I was asked by the Yucaipa News Mirror, our local newspaper, to collect images from Winterfest with my UAV. To get ready for this Mission I flew above Yucaipa Boulevard, over buildings, in the Uptown Area to find the best places to get images safely.
There are very strict rules when flying over crowds... you can't! Unless you have a DJI Mini 2 with Prop Guards and a Japanese battery due to weight and laceration risks. I flew, and will be flying, above crowds and the general area but will have my camera set to image from above the buildings. There will not be any sustained flights over people.

Nicely done. Yes, Yucaipa has grown, but there is an element of civic pride that I believe we're attempting to adhere too as we do.
