How To Fix Nexus 6p Bootloop | Stuck on Google Logo 2017

  • Install ADB goo.gl/zyMHKo
    Download Nexus 6p N2G48B factory image from here goo.gl/7DEkfZ
    Download N2G48B_4Cores.img here goo.gl/XX753G
    Extra step might get your phone into a permanent bootloop, do it on your own risk
    Extras:
    Download twpr.img recovery here goo.gl/ScgftS
    Download EX4_1_1_4Cores.zip here goo.gl/fEV7k5
    Android Flle Transfer www.android.co...
    P.S. I saw people who can't even open a Recovery Mode, this probably means your phone is dead for good/needs hardware fix
    P.P.S. There’s an Oreo patch available now here drive.google.c..., I haven’t tried it myself and not sure for which versions of Oreo it would work. If you attempt to try it - there’s no need to going through Steps 4 and 5 then. And in Step 6 use the file mentioned above instead. If this patch did work for you - feel free to leave a comment with a version of Oreo you had
    P.P.P.S. I DON'T answer to comments anymore. Assisted quite a few people personally in comments and I think you going through the description and full comment list will clear few things up for you

    Hi, I'm stuck on the last part of Step 5. I've entered cd Downloads/ cd angler-2ng48b and I'm trying to run flash-all.bat because I'm using Windows but what command do I use before flash-all.bat? The sh won't work. Thanks

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, In step 5 you just download that archive and run flash-all.bat, just try to double click flash-all.bat, it should work on Windows

    • @monale4711

      Your phone should be in a bootloader screen (Step 2) and connected to your computer via USB cable, then run flash-all.bat

    • @monale4711
      @monale4711 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did that but it didn't work. I downloaded that archive and ran flash-all.bat while my phone was in bootloader screen and this is what it showed:

      Try to move all files from image-angler... directory (there will be files like recovery.img, vendor.img etc, it's inside the archive) to the higher level directory where you have flash-all.bat and run it again

    Hi All. If anyone is still using a Nexus 6P phone, or utilising the device as a secondary/backup type, let the device start and allow it to boot loop. This will be an extended period of time and what you can do (and in this scenario) allow the boot looping to cause the phone's remaining battery charge to drain. The Google logo will keep flashing intermittently. After this time, you will notice the phone unable to boot loop because the phone's battery charge is virtually dead. You can tell this by trying to press the Power button, but the phone's red light icon (in the left-hand corner) flashes to signal that the battery is dead. Make sure the red led light is flashing. So now, you need to plug the phone charger to your power socket and to the device. Don't press the Power button - just plug the charger to the device and let it boot up. You will again see the Google logo and again, it will start the bootloop again. However, after a couple of minutes, the device will actually bypass the bootloop, allowing you to finally again see the Android animation, and you will be able to login into the device as per normally. The first time this took place, the device functioned normally for approximately one week, before suddenly the bootloop yet again returned suddenly. But during this period, the device was drained from all power on a couple of occasions, which it restarted normally. And the device was also recharged several times also without any issues. A second attempt was made to recover the device from suffering another bootloop spell so the battery was yet again drained of its charge - and yet this time, the decision was made to "flash" the device with the factory image (the same as the last firmware update of the device which was in December 2018 which is also the most latest update for Angler 6P) which made all user data deleted. So this time, the phone is entirely as though it came from factory and now the device is being charged back up again like its functioning normally. N.B.: the device is inevitably going to incurable from this hardware issue, so it's honestly best to purchase an entirely new device such as the more recent Pixel 2 XL.
    ***** For anybody using a OSX-based OS, install ADB and Fastboot together easier by installing HOMEBREW (brew.sh). Once you install it, just go into the Terminal screen and enter: "brew install android-platform-tools" (without the quote marks). This will install the latest ADB and Fastboot together for your Mac. And just let it completely install itself. The whole Homebrew and ADB+FASTBOOT installation is entirely via the Terminal window. Don't close it UNTIL it installs everything which will take 15 minutes or so. *****

    Hello, thanks for the great video! I am having trouble with step 3: the hot air step. I have not been able to get the phone to boot when the heat is applied. I left it under very high temperature conditions for close to a half hour and came back to the device still displaying the google logo. Any tips/ideas about where the temperature sensor is located, or if there is another step that a user will need to preform on the device to get the boot to start?

  • @mutemanmillionaire

    If you are trying to boot by overheating the CPU, another option is to let the battery get as close to dead as possible by letting the bootloop run the battery out. When the battery gets close to dead, it will try to boot. As soon as you see it try to boot, plug the power back in. That will get you booted once, so you can enable debugger mode and OEM unlocking.

      If it still doesn't work - then do this
      1. Navigate in command line terminal to the directory where you have recovery.img, vendor.img etc
      2. Run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
      3. Run fastboot flash system system.img
      4. Run fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
      5. Run fastboot flash boot boot.img
      6. Run fastboot reboot-bootloader
      This gets my phone into a bootloop where it loads the google android and then a error com.android.phone stopped working appears.

    Hi i have a question? what's the cause of this boot loop? Is it because of the cpu problem with 8 core processor of which 4 of them are bad(even though your not rooted or install a custom rom but rather have a fully stock version phone) or is it because of the update(software) pushed by google(phone is good as new. Still get a chance that it may get a boot loop after OTA update?even though processor is good as new?). Hope you'll understand what i'm talking about. Hope for your reply :)

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes, it's something wrong with this processor. There are many issues with this one on other phones and on few Huawei phones. I don't think it's has to do anything with software updates, my last update was about a month before it went to bootloop. And I tried flashing Marshallow factory, nothing changed
      If you have a warranty - I recommend you getting your phone back to the store so they fix it on a hardware . level. I didn't buy a warranty, but it's got some 3 years of factory defect free repairs like this

      Got no idea, dude. I just created this video based on several tutorials, to put everything together. I'm not into mobile repairs.
      P.S. if you followed my final step of CPU overclocking, then it's to be expected. Your phone is dead for good then

  • @orrichter
    @orrichter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks ! on the last transfer of the EX4.. I am using a Windows to transfer to my phone so I have just tried to connect the phone to the PC and see if I can just "regularly" transfer the EX4 to my Nexus6p directory (via a regular usb file transfer) BUT I couldnt find the TWRP file! please help me.

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you went through all 6 steps already and phone works? If it does - I really don't recommend installing custom kernel and overclocking CPU as I updated in description. If you still want to install it - the reason you didn't see EX4 file is because data is encripted on the phone and despite multiple attempts of me trying to decript it in TWRP - I couldn't. So your phone should be in TWRP and connected to computer when you're moving EX4 file, then you'll see TWRP folder

    • @orrichter
      @orrichter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright! Why do you don't advice me to make this overclocking CPU? how faster it will be and what are the risks? plus- What are the chances for these risks to happen. thanks bro!

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The risk I'd say is more than 90% of your phone getting killed for good, so you'll have to go to repair shop. You see, the problem with TH-cam videos is that it's really hard to change the message you send, you either delete the video or just update description haha

    • @orrichter
      @orrichter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am risking it because if this won't work- I will just buy a new phone (now too slow). So I made the move and made it! How much time till I know if it is safe or not?

    Hi, so after optional OEM unlocking using a hair dryer, my phone turned on and is working just as it used to. I've seen no problem so far. Is it extremely necessary to follow the next steps instead of using it as it is? What might the harm if I don't do so?

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will go to bootloop sooner or later. Sure, try using it like it for as long it works. But enable OEM unclocking anyway, because you don't wanna heat it up again

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, don't install it. It will go into a bootloop. I tried. Because 4 cores.img you installed is intended for Nougat. Though when there's an Oreo version of it - you can update to Oreo, install Oreo 4cores.img version and it will work
      How's the performance btw?

    • @MyHexaville
      @MyHexaville  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No
      To check if USB debugging enabled - follow Step 2, there I run 'adb devices' command - if it doesn't print anything while phone is connected - your USB debugging is disabled
      To check if OEM unlocked - run 'fastboot flashing unlock' , again from Step 2. If it prints that flashing not allowed - your OEM unlocking is not enabled and you need to heat up your phone (Step 3) to enable it in settings. And don't forget to enable USB debugging it then if it's off

      Try finding some phone repair shop, new 6p was something like $350 last year, so repair price respectively should be max something like $50 - $75. It's just one part to replace I think. From what I've seen from that guy in NYC who repairs Macs - it's going to be done in 5 minutes and you get it back :)

    Hi there, I used a normal convection oven from the kitchen. Set temp between 75 C and 100 C and wait max 10 min.
    I tried with the hair blower and heat gun...This isn't as accurate as the normal kitchen oven and it didn't worked.
    The temp stayed to low ( bootloop continues) or heated up to far and everything shuts down.
    Don't try the combi magnetron because you need regular heat and a combi oven only has 50 C 75 C 100 C and so on steps..
    I used a old plywood piece of wood and sawed a trench so my phone had a stand, use landscape mode.

      Unlock your freaking bootloader.

    • @shayanahmad5439
      @shayanahmad5439 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you'd have to boot into your phone. Use a hair dryer (on hot mode) to heat up the area between camera and fingerprint scanner, you'll boot into the phone. Then you turn the Developer Options mode on, and in that, turn "OEM Unlocking" to active. Then you use the existing method and you'd be through it without a problem

      SHAYAN AHMAD I tried multiple times, not booting.. :(

    • @shayanahmad5439
      @shayanahmad5439 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      See, here is how it is going to work: take a blow dryer and heat up the area right below the middle of the camera. Once hot, the phone will automatically boot into the lock screen. From there quickly goto dev options and turn oem unlocking on. It won't be very long before the phone will automatically get back to boot loop. One more thing, it's because of the recent Android security patch this happened. So when you get back to 7.1.2 try flashing the Rom with a custom one and speed it up that way. You'll still be getting 8.0 update in your notification drawer. Simply don't update then. The phone will be a lot slower than usual though. Best of luck.

      @lil slav you can't update with an 8.0 with the bootloop. 8.0's security update is the reason the phone runs into bootloop. Thus flashing a 7.1.2 is the wisest way to get around it. Moreover, 7.1.2 with 4 cores is going to enable the phone to run but slowly therefore in order to speed it up you might have to go with a custom such as twrp to make the phone faster. Hope this helps.

    Worst phone ever by Google.
    Not even service centre can repair phones stuck in bootloop as they claim Google did not provided any tools to repair such issues.
    Its seems Google is not even bothered.
    Google should atleast recall and sort the issues

      Try different variations .fast and press TAB or ./fast and press TAB or fast and press TAB. If autofill doesn't work - follow this tutorial to add platform-tools to path, so that you can run adb and fastboot from anywhere, it could help www.itprotoday.com/management-mobility/how-can-i-add-new-folder-my-system-path

    You have to heat the phone (hair dryer) while it boot loop 5 ..10 min and then you must to able developer mode and usb debugging. Its soldering chips problem and finally change the rom. Its work perfectly for me 😀

      @FahimKhan-qj9zg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya. I bought it soon after it came out from the google online store. It went into bootloop mode a week or 2 after the warranty ended. I remember i called them then but they didnt help at all. Just sent me to Huawii. Just found out about this bootloop fix a few days ago but it seems pretty confusing/technical.

    • @MyHexaville

      Gotcha, just try going through 6 steps, extra stuff is quite dangerous.Anyway, your phone is a brick now, so you ether find somebody to fix it for you and pay or do it yourself. This phone is pretty good in specs still in 2017 so I think it's worth to fix it. For example, at each step I explain what the expected outcome should be, so I think it's manageable with spending some time
      One thing: I saw people who can't even open a Recovery Mode, this probably means your phone it dead for good/needs hardware fix.
