Why do you think there is a time limit here? All I see is a percentage drop with each drill explosion. I have tested this and waited around a half depleted SSD while the limpets were collecting and the SSD did not deplete. So I think you have all the time in the world to mine this.
@@StargliderGaming Yeah but that's because the "health" percentage of that SSD dropped to 0%. When you target the SSD while drilling you can see it drop a bit every drill explosion. And then when it reaches 0% it despawns.
Why don't you mine, then buy a different ship and put your mining one into storage? That way you're not having to repeatedly kit out a new ship every time.
can you give the distance from the egg to the low temperature diamond hot spot? struggling to find it and having a radius distance would make it very easy to find. On XB1 so may not even exist
This rock is no more. Been looking for it for two days and the only thing i found aprocimating the properties of this rock in this area is a 4x Sub Surface deposit of Bromelite....
It’s good to be informed. 😜 Found a tripple SSD of LTD’s off to the right about 8 km (away from the planet) and at around 31 km away from the center hotspot. Not like the egg, but still good for around 50 tons of LTD.
thats not true, i found it just the other day, however i only got about 60~ or so diamonds out of it was super suprised that such a thing can exist until recently upon stumbling into this video
I used to mine LTDs in that sector, but whenever I heard they lowered the effective radius of hotspots, I tried and spent an hour in a single spot that was not known commonly (this evening as a matter of fact). I had a full mining loadout (lasers, charge launcher, abrasion blaster, SS missiles), but could not manage to find any sub-surface LTD deposit in one whole hour, I only found two LTD cores and one single 9.8% LTD surface asteroid. Looks like this sector is still the way to go... My net profit tonight was 30M for an hour of mining, and you just made 84 millions, in a 18 minutes video... Two things to remember, you, Starglider Gaming, are awesome ! And FDEV should get their shoes together and start making adjustments that make sense, if their goal is to make mining a little more realistic, maybe trying to value every other spot should mitigate that gold rush effetc...
Thanks for the compliment! Trust me, I'm not that good, more lucky. And I'll be honest with you, I still have better luck laser mining in the sector in this video than I did at Borann. I hit an unbelievable 39.13% LTD 'roid the other day, only for my wingman to later the next day a 39.24% one. And we never got those at Borann. But for me now it's sub-surface mining for me. It's just so much quicker.
Nice vid! There's a few non-rotating eggs as well, makes it less frustrating. And you can reset all the SSDs on the rock by travelling 26km away and then coming back (or use the 'ship launched fighter' trick to instantly teleport 26km and back again). Check the Elite Miners reddit for info
No, the percentage is to do with surface mining. The key for sub-surface mining is speed. The faster you can drill successfully, the more you can potentially get.
I'm getting this game for my birthday soon and am busy swatting up how to play it. If you go to one of the top 'hot spots' like this for diamonds etc in Open play, is it possible to meet other players mining in the same spot or are we always kept apart by the game. I would like to try to stay mainly in Open but I would go to Solo to prevent conflict/robbery. Thanks.
This yields a load of LTDs faster than laser mining so in that case YES as you will be going to sell off load much sooner then the guy going from rock to rock laser mining. Also laser mining is boring compared to this where here you keep much more active.
@@polarbear5331 The locations of asteroids are different across different platforms. But i've heard that the egg is directly on top of a hotspot on consoles.
Wicked video! Best “how to” I’ve found for this! Thank you!
Great directions. Found it right away! Thanks!

As you see in the video after a short period of time each SSD disappears from the asteroid. Every single time I have mined this has happened.
@@StargliderGaming Yeah but that's because the "health" percentage of that SSD dropped to 0%. When you target the SSD while drilling you can see it drop a bit every drill explosion. And then when it reaches 0% it despawns.
@@gambino883 - I concur. It seems to be related to the 'health' of the deposit, not time. That matches all of my observations as well.
I hate mining.
Everytime I end up selling my mining ship.
Then next time I log in I decide to go mining.
Rinse & Repeat every time
Why don't you mine, then buy a different ship and put your mining one into storage? That way you're not having to repeatedly kit out a new ship every time.

Roughly 25km from the hotspot, although I believe that consoles don't have the 'roids in the same spot, so this may not be any use to you.

Yeah, you are correct. They have nerfed mining. I was going to do a quick vid about it.

Good to know on the reset thing! o7
And that same asteroid also has ~27% LTDs to be laser mined, in addition to the sub-surface LTDs, right? 6:55
Absolutely! It's the egg that just keeps on giving.
It's the goodest egg in the galaxy
Okay so to define the egg, it has to be 4 sub surface low temp diamonds? The percentage itself doesn't matter?

yes u will run into lots of players trying to mine this same rock, so its best to do this in solo mode...
Solo or in a private group if you don't want to run into lots of (usually) hostile players.
Nice video :), got back into mining because of this. What ship/loadout are you using ? Anyways keep up the videos
Love seeing more condas mining
Conda for mining, 'vette for combat :D

this is more profitable then laser mining?
