I hope this helps anyone looking to start void opal mining, I know its not a very easy thing to do initially. Skip to time 7:00 for the mining section. PS, This is not my voice, I currently do not have a recording setup :)
not rly, mining was nerfed to the ground, andf ppl who make bgilions have bilions but new or returning players will fly low end ships for next 2 years. if they fucking nerfing money making stuff that ppl make bilions on WIPE THE FUCKING SERVERS. becasue i returned after 2 years to elite just to find out i can put my ship in to trash because ppl have fully enginerred ships bilions of credits without to much effort. this is a fucking joke and im unistalling. going back to star citizen and fly my fucking cutlas
First time I saw this approach with flying under the belt and only focus on smol 'roid bois. Is that faster than flying thru the belt? I know for a fact I found most motherlodes on medium or big asteroids.
Before watching this I spent all day in my Cutter and found 0 opals (even though I was in a so called hotspot). I was out of the bubble in an uninhabited system, the rings had confirmed hotspots, I’m scanning everything and getting nothing (but the occasional bromellite core). I’d tried re-logging and changing planets and systems. I was pulling my hair out - then I watched this and found 4 void opal cores in about 30 mins. It’s all about the little asteroids! Ignore everything else. Thanks for the video man. Very helpful.
i have the same issue but the one i found is crossed with another spot. I just stuck with diamond mining cuz i can find those easy for some reason, I mean I get that 6th sense and find several in a cluster. hell me and my buddy pulled almost 70 tons in one run (had other stuff to)
I was struggling with this. I watched many tutorials that didn't cover some vital info that this video covers. Good job and thanks for ending my suffering
Most detailed and in logical order, only one thing to add: When you scratch the surface of your coremeteor with blaster or mininglaser before blowing it up, you can't chip off any pieces by blaster after the explosion. Thats due to a glitch, may it be corrected some time soon.
Very good I’ve been doing this type of mining from the start of the update but this is the first time I’ve seen the balance table for the seismic charges and I must say thanks a lot
Thank you for leaving a comment. I'm so glad the chart helped. It was personally one of the problems I had with mining when I first started and it was mostly trail and error at that point. But there is actually an efficient way to go about it and I had to mention it here :)
Hands down the best one I've come across so far so much more detailed when everybody else is like to be honest never would have known that all the small round ones are crackable nobody else even comes close to saying that
If you are starting out I would recommend a Cobra MKIII. It's enough to get you into an Asp Explorer. If you are learning I would also say fill your hold with 75-80% with limpets if not full cap. You can always abandon limpets as you need to in the inventory screen.
Good vid, I normally put 2 high charges in to 2 low strength and that will save you charges, as the more you use the less mining you can do without rearming. and new players might not have the resources to synth more ammo
Thank you and I agree. Two low fissure charges is definitely ideal but I think it may also be abit tricky for beginners to get right initially. I personally still have times where I completely screw it up lol, but thats probably telling of my not so good skill level.
Also when they get more money update the limpet controllers to a instead of b rated for a longer limpet life span, you got me wanting to try mining again, might give it another go tonight 😂
3:13 "in the restock tab we will purchase just about over half of the maximum amount...". Proceeds to purchase a little bit over 70%. That feels like a reasonable amount, but I'd hardly say it's "just about over half". It's 40% more than the half ;-)
ive noticed when i hunt for diamonds I can go by the way the asteroid looks and i do very well. is there any details on what specific opal asteroids look like?
Thanks for the guide! Coming back after a long break and did this for well over an hour but only got 13mil in opals and 1mil in low temp diamonds on my first run, though I wasn't efficient in finding the right asteroids. Another guide I watched ages ago called the one you mined in this vid a "popcorn" asteroid because of its shape. Currently mining in a Python to get funds both for the Type-10 I got during December's 40% off sale and eventually a Corvette, which will be a grind...
Hey your most welcome, glad I could help. Great time to come back too, with odyssey just around the corner, well at least we can hope. Could be efficiency, but also sadly mining got a big debuff recently. Where before we could get up to 1.6 million per opal, now its closer to 500k max.
Yes, on your ship, you need to be in analysis mode and use a surface scanner. Make sure the ship has a detailed surface scanner & planetary approach suite installed in the optional internals.
Hey thanks for the vid man, super useful, but around 18:40 when I use my abrasion blaster to knock off the last bits of Void Opals it doesn't work. My abrasion blaster projectile hits the rock with the hexagonal icon but the rock just doesn't chip like it normally does? Is it possible that my abrasion blaster is not strong enough?
No worries, glad I could help. Sometimes even if the hexagon is colored blue, it might not work if you don't have a good line of sight. Try to maneuver your ship so its facing more directly in front of the fragment. Also your abrasion blaster does have a kind of auto aim, when facing the blue hexagon for example @ 18:59 you can see the yellow cross hair faze and zoom to the target, when this happens fire to get an auto lock shot. Lastly make sure you reset all power to your ships systems to have power to use the abrasion blaster indefinitely. Hope that helps :)
@@andy.tedits361 Hey thanks for the quick reply, I took your advice and went back for some void opal mining but I still get the same problem. Here's some screenshots to show that I'm clearly hitting the void opals with my abrasion blaster shot with a good line of sight. imgur.com/a/5FSRKu5 Is it possible that my abrasion blaster isn't strong enough?

@@jasonj3867 Hmm, out of curiosity, from those screen shots, has that asteroid already been blown into pieces or is it still intact? Also is your blaster equip to the side of the ship or in the center? I found that some ships with the abrasion blaster equiped to the sides, its quite trickery to get good shots.
