www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/fvwtrk.pdf. This is a website to use to negotiate with the broker on Veggies and fruits. The rates you see are rates per truck load per 40k. The color chart shows you where there is a shortage of trucks. Reports come out every Wed at noon. Hope i posted it correct lol. Now these rates are what the Markets dictate to the farms so when you negotiate a rate you need to keep in mind 20% to broker then try to get the remaining . If there is a shortage of trucks and your in that area balls in your court. You see the 3 columns of rates those are previous weeks i believe . The number in colons is the rate change , so you can see if there is an increase or decrease in rates by percentage points. If you look at the San Luis Valley CO> you see a (+22) for Dallas Market. I personally would negotiate that higher do to demand. Brokers play that game i play that game as well. Today for example Yuma AZ to Boston on the DAT board posts 4400.00 . 15 Day avg is 7081.00 The market rate is 7900.00 on 2867 miles, believe it somebody will pull that load for 4400.00 . All that does is hurt the next guy because they under bidded and the rate causing the rate go down and brokers bank . Had they had or knew of the posted web page maybe they negotiate better thats why i posted it to inform everyone of the many tools avail to us to be more profitable. Just keep in mind when you see an offer on a load from DAT, the purpose is to lower your expectations its the oldest trick in the book in negotiating rates. Don"t buy it unless load works
what's a beyotch hauling doubles loaded with carrots. CHP lets you get away with 60..anything over that ticket. Blow the scales at Chowchilla..take the 52 towards Gilroy.. Then head east on the 30 back side of Merced, back onto 99 N. Jacktone Rd. To Kraft lol
The only hill I smoked the brakes on was Donner Pass. I was maxed out on weight. Hauling paper from Idaho to San Diego. Never had a problem with Grapevine or the other famous hills. Interstate 17 from Flagstaff to Phoenix is a hill that doesn't get alot of attention. I was on a 10% grade in West Virginia going 10 to 20 mph. I liked the grapevine because of Wheeler Ridge at the bottom always had parking.
went down with my dad in the late 50s in his 47 straight truck 24ft flat bed,4speed with vacuum 2speed rear end.the highway was a 2lane.ther was 55 gal drums of water about every 50feet
I just took a SD CA to Bakersfield Dedicated route. Brand new CDL. Right thru LA then into grapevine. Kind of nervous for that up and down area hills. Automatic Freightliner Cascadia
For 2.5 years i ran a dedicated Shakey to Portland Scrap paper up and Roll paper down . All new stock was rolled in . I would go to the JB Hunt Term. Drop and hook
Awesome video it’s crazy how I was telling all my co workers if the grapevine was bad it’s like if you guys where reading my mind but keep on trucking and stay safe on the road
My first week out by myself I had to go up and down the grapevine...a little sketchy at first but I just went slow and it wsn’t too bad. Going up was a very slow drive with like 44,000 lbs of paper Rolls. Just take your time.
We had a video blocked from over 2 years ago of a drunks driver we filmed. It went viral and it was our most watched video and TH-cam deleted it for a content violation, lame.
Good to see y'all.....been sitting up here in Reno for two days waiting to go over!! All that rain u drove thru is snow over here..... waves good tho!!
I wish with your opening comment you said where the Grapevine is. Finally in the last minute or so you said CA then I5. GREAT JOB with the video and talking about braking and shifting. Glad to see your back to work. Drive safe.
Nice job on the hill. I-70 Heading east out of the mountains is a bear. 8 to 10% grade and it is about 5 miles with deadmans curve I think there is 2 runaway truck ramps.
Monday afternoon I was heading south on the 5, and spent 2 hours at the north side of grapevine. The weather turned nasty and CHP had it shut down. Fun times to go back up to the 58 and around.
I liked this one Jeremy and Selena. That is steep. I know that stretch of hiway around Laughlin. I am from Texhoma where it's flat mostly. Drove into Laughlin from Gallup. I'd never seem such winding, steep rds. My cousin was with me and he helped me get through it. Always Keepin' It Real and Selena...Keep It Between The Ditches with turquoise and real diamonds.
I do that drive twice per week; Bakersfield to Burbank and back. That Frazier Park Flying J is being rebuilt. That’s why it’s closed for a few months. General Beale settled and ran Fort Tejon by the way.
Lots of new trucks are set up that way from the factory and yes it can be frustrating following a truck seeing the brake lights come on constantly. It's part of the computer program (we had that option deleted at the dealership, no problem ).
check the play in your clutch pedal it might be to much . There is a sensor there that deactivates jake when pedal is pushed in. If the pedal has to much play it will always be deactivated . $50 clutch adjustment would fix it
Thanks again to Baby Jesus that I drive an automatic. Been down that hill when it was a real killer, riding with my parents in a cabover FL that had a sketchy Jake back in the early 80s. Now it's a pussycat.
Back in the day my grandpa would haul produce up and down the grapevine. He would tell stories about how they would stand on the runner broad holding the steering wheel for two reasons. One cause it was to hot in the cab and two if the truck ran away they could jump off of it.
Grapevine to me isn't as bad as going south out of Flagstaff to Phoenix. I have had 17 go to hell in like a mile on me in winter time. True unless you see flames keep rolling to cool them puppies off.
Set your cruse control at 20 mph flip all the Jake's stay in 7th gear.. at 30mph Jake's kick on slow back to 20 / 25 back to 30 ..never use your brakes unless some slower truck is in front. Once to tap the brakes the cruse shuts off. And you can't reset it..
Back in my day most trucks did not have jake brakes, if you got down without heating your brakes you were a professional, on Donner there used to be signs telling a driver to safely get down. Pull toy here.
The biggest problem with the grapevine is it is in California and they have set the speed limit so ridiculously slow. The speeds were set in the 70s and back in the 70s trucks were junk and most didn’t even have Jakes. Now we have Jakes and disk brakes and it is no problem to drive down that hill at a reasonable speed. But hey, that shows ya what progressive big govt. gets ya. Stupidity.

I remember training when I was new to trucking the Grapevine scared me but my trainer taught me I'll just drive the Grapevine and it was so easy!
Good to see Team Fish back on the road, drive and stay safe out there
Cheers From Down Under !!!
Nice job driving...Jake brakes the great truckers invention
Awesome video it’s crazy how I was telling all my co workers if the grapevine was bad it’s like if you guys where reading my mind but keep on trucking and stay safe on the road

Thank you glad you’re back
Down shifting dance on the 10 speed 30 years ago.Slow trucks was the only tense moments and the anticipation of it.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing.
Hey guys, good to see you back. Hey what happened to your last video. it was blocked by u tube???
We had a video blocked from over 2 years ago of a drunks driver we filmed. It went viral and it was our most watched video and TH-cam deleted it for a content violation, lame.
Good to see y'all.....been sitting up here in Reno for two days waiting to go over!! All that rain u drove thru is snow over here..... waves good tho!!
Nice video very informative. Thanks for the double nickel reference. Have not heard that since bj and the bear show(NBC). Be safe.
Cabbage is a shadow of its former glory. I used to fear it, but now it's so tame. That's a good thing, though.
I-80 West going from Reno to Sacramento.
I wish with your opening comment you said where the Grapevine is. Finally in the last minute or so you said CA then I5. GREAT JOB with the video and talking about braking and shifting. Glad to see your back to work. Drive safe.
Nice of you to tell someone how to do their vlogs.
Nice job on the hill. I-70 Heading east out of the mountains is a bear. 8 to 10% grade and it is about 5 miles with deadmans curve I think there is 2 runaway truck ramps.
Love and pass is a peach with hazmat also
Nice! That's excellent driving!
Safe travels you two! 💯👍👍
O to the hat cam. You never realize how much a person checks his mirrors until you put a camera on your head!
Nice view on the gopro. Bout time ya'll got back to work. 👍👍👍
I see guys driving fast and getting tickets every day on i5 just drive 35 and everything will be 😎 😎
Id always set in 7th gear and let it go by it self.
There's usually CHP vehicle passing the rest area.
"Aguas."..lol
Monday afternoon I was heading south on the 5, and spent 2 hours at the north side of grapevine. The weather turned nasty and CHP had it shut down. Fun times to go back up to the 58 and around.
Great Video! I train for FedEx and we teach the stab method on braking.
Thanks man.

Is there a Petro / TA truck stop at the bottom of the Grapevine. Going to the Washington State line
Yes there is...
You are confused
the grapevine is in California
Cool 😎
Safe travels and God bless
👋👋👋
I do that drive twice per week; Bakersfield to Burbank and back. That Frazier Park Flying J is being rebuilt. That’s why it’s closed for a few months. General Beale settled and ran Fort Tejon by the way.
Run the Grapevine for years hauling fuel as well! Accepted for Traveloko waiting to get a truck keep us posted on how your 2 like it!! Be safe!!
On our company trucks, the brake lights come on when the jake brake is engaging. Why? No idea, but I’m sure it irritates some folks following us.
Lots of new trucks are set up that way from the factory and yes it can be frustrating following a truck seeing the brake lights come on constantly. It's part of the computer program (we had that option deleted at the dealership, no problem ).
Hi nice video you drove that we'll stay safe guys
grt videos guy's God bless you all
Remember when everyone had to straddle the fog line going down due to the pavement being so bad? Good times!
Yup, I was like a snake on that hill 20 years ago. Potholes were like a foot deep and nonstop. Surprised I didnt crack all the springs.
I do that every day sometimes with no engine breaks because sometimes they don’t work
check the play in your clutch pedal it might be to much . There is a sensor there that deactivates jake when pedal is pushed in. If the pedal has to much play it will always be deactivated . $50 clutch adjustment would fix it
nicely done, as usual
So 8th gear is a good gear to go down in?
Thanks again to Baby Jesus that I drive an automatic. Been down that hill when it was a real killer, riding with my parents in a cabover FL that had a sketchy Jake back in the early 80s. Now it's a pussycat.

True story
I just looked it up....Flying J closed in Aug. 18 for a major renovation. (it needed it) It should reopen around Aug. 19.
I ran with a 300 cummins 7 speed Trans no Jake
Jeremy is the star of this channel . Selena was lucky to have a compitent trainer .im learning their hard to come by
Hey guys were did u guys go.
Enjoyed that video.
Do all OTR trucks have jakes now?
Ya its standard nowadays
Awesome video
Is this the first trip since your vacation? Good to have you safely back..
Just came down there about 2 hours ago .
I got a 425.00 ticket @ the bottom of that hill years ago.
I thought you guys were looking at a new truck did you not get it or what happened
Still working on it
I just went that way tuesday
How many years of experience do you got
25 years, been driving since 97
Where are you guys delivering to in California?
Need to watch your fiber around here. A lot of people forget about that. 😎
The flying j is in tehachapi
Grapevine to me isn't as bad as going south out of Flagstaff to Phoenix. I have had 17 go to hell in like a mile on me in winter time. True unless you see flames keep rolling to cool them puppies off.
Cool vid💪🏾💪🏾
Sure, it's no problem now with modern day equipment. Trying it in a 290 cummins with no jake 10 speed with drum brakes.
There's an old railroad saying:
Uphill slow, downhill fast;
Tonnage first, safety last!
Are you using an app for your dot HOS?
We are using keep trucking
Ok ty.
Good job Jeremy season pro
Where have you all been? Miss you both how is your new place is it anymore money let's us know and miss Selena
Rates are down nationwide just gotta hump it out a couple months, spring always picks up.
CHP usually waiting at the bottom looking for those smoking brakes like "where's the fire, aside from your truck that is."
I take the grade 2 times a day. The flying j is getting rebuilt.
Good jack no worries
I live in Arvin next to Bakersfield u should of stop by
My trainer at Swift was talking about how dangerous Donner pass is but I went up and back no problem. She’s the danger because she goes too fast
Donner was no biggie, Wolf Creek and Grapevine, and Cabbage...a little hairy, but just use the brain God gave ya...you'll be fine.
I do local go up and down all day 7 to 8 times hauling 40k for 35yrs..
Yeah no big deal
Set your cruse control at 20 mph flip all the Jake's stay in 7th gear.. at 30mph Jake's kick on slow back to 20 / 25 back to 30 ..never use your brakes unless some slower truck is in front. Once to tap the brakes the cruse shuts off. And you can't reset it..
That cali life...
Google still shows Flying J Travel center in Frazier on the map
It's under construction doing a remodel apparently
I just took my permit test. They ask this question 10 times about downgrades and braking. Textbook illustration.
Next, Wolf Creek Pass :)
Good driving you guys come through Sacramento CA give me a shout out #Cali #Home of the double nickel 55
All those trucks riding their brakes.
Not necessarily, my Jakes sets off my brake lights, so while I'm not touching my brakes it probably looks like I am.
I'm not sure why people make such a big deal about the grapevine. We've been down it tons of times with no issues.
Back in my day most trucks did not have jake brakes, if you got down without heating your brakes you were a professional, on Donner there used to be signs telling a driver to safely get down. Pull toy here.
Signs are still up on donner, old and peeling but still there.
Flying J is under a huge remodel
Grapevine is nothing I always let it go and I never stay in that right lane only when there is no other truck in front!
Frazier Park Flying J is under construction ....
It isnt bad at all
Hola senores
It made the news that a driver going way to fast hit a bolder at the end of the escape ramp and died
who can with out a jake now days lol
The grapevine is nothing bad I ran it every day in training
Put it in Georgia overdrive....lol
gotta be thankful for j- brakes
Grapevine is nothing nowadays, should have tried it back in the 70's-80's. And about time you got your ass back to work.
The biggest problem with the grapevine is it is in California and they have set the speed limit so ridiculously slow. The speeds were set in the 70s and back in the 70s trucks were junk and most didn’t even have Jakes. Selena is so damn hot. ☺
