    00:45 surely that little ratchet at that angle didn't loosen those 12mm nuts.

      Mine required an extension reaching up to the back of the engine bay, as straight as possible, a 17 inch flex head ratchet, a pipe to increase leverage, one person holding the extenion top, and another person torquing the wrench. There was very loud "crack" when both nuts broke free. The vehicle was a 2010 EX-L and the mount had never been out.

      Thanks for commenting how it went for you so I can mentally prepare.

    harder and more expensive to get factory mounts now, then ever for these older Hondas. So I'm going to disable the VCM/Eco mode to hopefully end the bleeding and damage it causes to wear these mounts so fast. Thank you for this video. I was able to take of the rear using just my 17mm wrench and taking off the passenger wheel to use the assembly for leverage on the ground. Just saying work with what you got. I did order the wrenches which should get her today to help finish the other mounts.

    This went a lot easier than the front for me as you don't have to reach down. Took a little over an hour. Only down side is having stuff fall in your face every time you touch/rub something. My old mount had so much play.

    Hello, good video
    I have problems with the passenger side motor mount, one bolt rusted in the hole and broke, bad Honda design. Two bolts go into a sleeve and water get in and rusted inside the frame. I have to find a way to hold a bolt there. I drilled it out but threads may not be good. Also I drilled a hole all the way to the bottom of the frame and saw the sleeve is short inside the frame. I will make a threaded sleeve with a heel and open a bigger hole at bottom and bolt it. Cleared the existing thread hole and use a 4in. Long Bolt. What a mess to change the timing belt. 08 Odyssey
    Never had a problem before,,, comments??

    I have take off all 5 -14mm bolts and both 17mm bolt but it won't come off or alow me to jack up the motor 1 1/5 in to get to get the mount Off? It Jack's the whole car?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hmong talk make sure the the jack is not hitting the frame and as your jacking it up and it’s only on the transmission. Also look around maybe you took out one of the wrong bolts and there still a bolt attached.

    I have an 05 ex. Does mine have these mounts or is it just with the most loaded versions? How can you tell when they fail? I have a mystery steering wheel shaking at highway speeds that two new sets tires, alignments, control arms, tie rod end, Cv axles, stabilizer links, different wheels, can't stop the shaking.

      I also replaced everything. This is a very common problem with older Odys. Unfortunately I have the same issue and this issue is a torque converter.

    I bet it would be a bitch doing this job on the floor. In a garage with the car in the air looks and sound much easier
