A great dish for January, this salad makes steak go further than traditional steak and chips - and the Asian aromatics such a chilli and ginger are incredibly good for you. Give it a go.
Nice dish. Does the fish sauce round out the dressing and become homogenous? When I make a Caesar I paste my anchovies (I don't really like fish sauce or anchovies on their own, but when added to something else [like Pad Thai] it makes the dish). I couldn't imagine a Caesar or a Pad Thai without the anchovies and fish sauce.
When Gordon cook, I'm just silent n in awe. He is such a great chef. It's like he's born with a gift for cooking. Food makes ppl happy n his cooking makes me happy.
I watched somewhere that Gordon's wife Tana Ramsay does the cooking in their household esp. for their children. She has published several books herself as well.
My god, this man's passion for food and how he explains it all is fantastic. I first heard of this guy from the NA version of Hell's Kitchen. Ahh to be a teen and to believe everything you see on TV. There's a lot of great chefs in the world out there, but his personality when presenting these recipes and steps for cooking is so engaging. I don't have the motivation to be as good as he is, but I respect him so much, especially in the way that he respects the ingredients that he uses. +1 subscriber You go Ramsay!
I made this IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I think I finally know how to cook a perfect steak now. I used NY strip steak. The salad dressing was wonderful! I added fresh grated ginger to it!!
It’s such a small moment but I love the fact that the dressing Ramsey made was at least partially inspired by his visit to Asia/Vietnam, it shows that not only did he pay attention but actually remembered and now implements it into his own cooking which I just love.
I really love and admire him! I respect that he can eat, enjoy and cook food from many culture. Asia, specially Vietnam has many good food. In his videos I see Gordon cooked some Vietnamese food and bring them to the top level. I'm so thankful and happy for that!
Gordon takes them out of the pan just before the steaks are done. That's how I was taught too. If the steak is cooked perfectly in the pan, it will be over cooked on the plate. Take it out just before it's the way you want it, then let it rest. By the time it's done resting, it will be cooked perfectly.
Vietnam salad, I love the cuisine of Vietnam, Vietnam dish rich and diverse. I live in Vietnam and I'm glad to see Chef Gordon Ramsay cooking my country. Thanks chef
Just add your sauce....NOT TOO MUCH THOUGH, DON'T DROWN IT! I like the way Gordon combines western and asian cuisine perfectly and he is very open to share his secret and how he lifts up the flavour :)) great recipe. Highly recommend!
I bought the book where this recipe is and I prepared it once and then again and again. That dressing became my absolute favorite and I'm using it for many other salads too! Really delicious! I also tried sesame seeds or almonds instead of peanuts, and other variations too. Fantastic!
In my opinion steak medium rare is best as the main dish, not in something else. Like in a salad, places always serve it in doused in sauce (I always soak my salads ins ranch lol) so the steaks don't need to be juicy in salads, as their already is the flavor from the dressing.
There's still a difference to him that he prefers the steaks to be juicy on their own at the same time. It does depend on personal preference, as anything else in life, yeah.
well if u are lazy and microwave stuff its hard for you. i have always cooked fresh bc my mom has always cooked fresh, just like ramsay. i guess the applr dosent fall far from the tree 😂

This recipe is very affordable if you cut on the steak/use cheaper cuts or change to chicken breasts stir fried with loads of onions and lemongrass. Carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, shallots and peanuts are enough but you need all the stuff he used for the sauce. If you're looking for easy, cheap recipes, try Brothers Green Eats channel on TH-cam. They make $5 meals and $30 meals a week recipes and stuff like that. Even cheap vegetarian and vegan recipes. (:
You shouldn't even be thinking of soda, especially if you don't have that much money to spend. Don't even be thinking about cooking like this. Just buy bare minimum healthy foods (free range, organic chicken eggs), organic salad, wild caught fish (bristle / sardines) and etc. Yes, organic might be a bit more expensive, but what is your health worth to you, when you're sitting in a hospital one day with a serious illness because you didn't take care of your body years ago? Health should always be priority, no matter how much or how little money you make.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that organic foods are better for your health. The pesticides found in ordinary food are too minimal to actually do any damage. It's a waste of money, especially if one can't even afford to buy a can of coke.
