It's actually quite possible to be a non binary girl or boy! Some folks opt for medical transition to alleviate discomfort but still identify as non binary to an extent. It's why you'll sometimes see pronoun pairings like she/they or he/they :)
I like to read it in a positive way, like as "we are parents and looking for unisex names for our babygirl to not make her uncomfortable in case she comes out as trans/nb and wants to use different pronouns". I know a lot of unisex named people that are very happy about having a name that fits both genders, even if they identify as their assigned gender.

Or does it refer to someone else that might not actually be there with you as you speak to each other about that person? If it's like singular "you" in English the whole "it's informal and for people of your own age" thing reminds me of how we make a distinction between informal "du" (= singular "you") and formal "Sie" (= singular "you", but formal and usually the go-to pronoun to use with people older than you, at least when you first meet them) in German.

My favorite pronoun is "den" in Danish. It's basically polygender. We are not taught this in school, but teaching/talking about Danish to foreigners and comparing the language to German, I realised the otherwise feminine and masculine objects have been merged into one gender, which I like to call polygender. It covers all objects that can have a gender without revealing the gender. I'd argue it can be used the same as "it" on English.

I agree that "unisex names for girls" is pretty odd, but there are non binary folks who are fine with identifying as girls
It's actually quite possible to be a non binary girl or boy! Some folks opt for medical transition to alleviate discomfort but still identify as non binary to an extent. It's why you'll sometimes see pronoun pairings like she/they or he/they :)

I like to read it in a positive way, like as "we are parents and looking for unisex names for our babygirl to not make her uncomfortable in case she comes out as trans/nb and wants to use different pronouns". I know a lot of unisex named people that are very happy about having a name that fits both genders, even if they identify as their assigned gender.
The "oh you're so skinny, that's so beautiful, I want to be skinny like you" when I was underweight my whole life made me have an eating disorder when I hit puberty and my body changed because I wasn't that skinny anymore and I didn't understand that it was normal and beautiful...

My favorite pronoun is "den" in Danish. It's basically polygender.
We are not taught this in school, but teaching/talking about Danish to foreigners and comparing the language to German, I realised the otherwise feminine and masculine objects have been merged into one gender, which I like to call polygender. It covers all objects that can have a gender without revealing the gender. I'd argue it can be used the same as "it" on English.
