So it's best to tell people you are American and your family is Chinese. Nothing wrong with people asking about your origin. I don't understand why Asian people get so offended when people ask about their origin. When I get to know friends I always ask them where is their family from and they have no problem telling me they are Italians. So Asian people need to chill out.

I guess, Irrespective of any race, there are people who just do not get along with other races, maybe because of their personal experience or maybe because that is how they are raised. I believe that we as individuals need to just do our part, initiate a conversation and mix up. When I came in Canada I had a hard time mixing up with Vietnamese people cause they didn't use to be very responsive in what I am saying or something it would look socially rude for them to just completely ignore my opinion. Now, after some months of spending more time with anpther Vietnamese friend that I have now, I have understood that that is just a reflection of her culture, they take some time to open up and get comfortable with other communities and then the grt along well. All it takes is a bit of time and effort. No one is racist its just our own bad experiences that make us shy away from connecting with someone. Yes he’s from M’sia but he really only lived in M’sia till 7 yrs of age. His family then moved to England. He now lives in Singapore with his wife. He and his wife make a good looking couple!

I may be a little bias as I'm Asian, but if you like the movie or think you will like it, you should read the books (3 of them). Super interesting read and the author captures the drama of meeting a wealthy Asian family very well.

@MrThemorningsun this is actually based off the book of the same title written by a singaporean writer and there are actually plenty of non-asian americans in this show including the lead himself who is malaysian-british, michelle yeoh and a handful of singaporean actors
C-dramas from HK and Taiwan had similar plots long before k-dramas became popular.
