Thank you for the Namcot in 89 background in the beginning of this video. I was aware of the souring of their relationship with Nintendo, and was perplexed to see this many of their releases keep showing up on the platform.
After years of hearing about this game, I finally got to play it in Namco Museum Archives. Super fun, comedic game with tons of personality and challenge!
Really liked the original series on Mega Drive, played through it plenty of times back in the day. This one was one of my first Famicom exclusives, alongside Donald Land and a couple other games. It's really fun for what it is; maybe it's somewhat simplistic, but I didn't mind while playing it. It's also not super difficult or obtuse, just about perfect for a quick playthrough. Also, gotta love all the wonky Engrish and all the funky parodies. Overall, good times.
Thank you for the historical information at the start there, very interesting material that explains quite a lot. I also appreciate the number of layers you need to dig through to get the fly joke, that was nice, even though the Hedison one was better.
This is one of my all-time favorites, and a game I desperately want in my collection, but getting it is going to be tough because it's popular with japanese AND US collectors.
Until a few months ago it was around 2500 yen which isn't cheap, but it wasn't completely outrageous for such a significant game. Now that Famicom game prices are shooting up, I'm not sure how much it costs...
wow I had no idea namcot HAD so many games on famicom! I did play this as a ROM, but also gave it a couple tries on the Famicom Namco Museum collections they released on switch. going to have to fire that one up again before the halloween season ends, because it is a fun one! (PS. hat's off for the Jeff Goldblum joke, that's exactly the kinda humor I'm here for, haha.)
Nice historical context at the beginning there
It's something you only notice if you're working your way through a chronological listing and collecting.

That's definitely Ki from Quest of Ki/Tower of Druaga with the aliens bursting from her!

This wa always one of my favorite Famicom games

Creatures crawl in search of blood. To accessorize their black zippered hood.
The only thing I wish this series had was an English Friendly rating.
I leave so many episodes googling if a game is worth buying from Japan.
You can try the game on emulator and then decide if worth or not

So it's all in English? Wonder how popular it was with stores that sold imports when it was new.

@@RndStranger j4u has it for $40 right now, and they're one of the good ones with reasonable prices...

As a fyi Atari games (there were two Ataris at the time) was headed by an exnamco staff
Dragon Ninja/Bad Dudes was Data East’s fault. They programmed it poorly.
