people ask why did he stay with this standard mjolnir armor and didn’t go with different specific armor when it was available to him was simply bc he was jack of all trades but master of none. where as Juun from Noble Team had sniper/stealth armor bc the only missions he was sent on were sniper/stealth mission mainly, that where he was a master.
Weird how he didn’t get the special ops armor that Naomie had in the books, where her armor automatically modified and upgrades itself using nano tech , considering how long masterchiefs active combat scenarios are figured they’d give him one of the self sustaining suits

For those curious, Gen 3 armor is a standard, not an armor set. The standard armor of the generation is a variation of the Mark VII. A prototype that saw very limited use post-war. The Gen 3's concept is to have armor that surpassed the effectiveness of the more advanced and expensive Gen 1 armor, while compounding on the advantages of the Gen 2 armor such as variety for different combat roles, and the armor being much, much, much cheaper and easier to produce. This is important because even a single suit of Mark V costed as much as a fully armed and manned Charon-Class (presumably) Light Frigate. A cost deemed necessary and acceptable for the Spartan IIs that were the primary users of the Mjolnir system due to being far more effective than any standard ship ever could have been. This cost is why all but the most elite Spartan IIIs (of which there were likely over a thousand) wore SPI armor instead. So having that big of an improvement is important for the UNSC, which is fielding Spartans as numerous and somewhat standard soldiers. Not suicide warriors facing insurmountable odds.
Same. Contrary to popular opinion, I love the cluttered tankiness of it, he looks like a mfcking walking wall of bricks, a human brute like the Spartans are made out to be in the lore. And I loved the moments where they showed him next to humans and Spartan IVs and he just towered over them. Halo 4 is underrated even with the retcons and lazy explanations for the changes
That design and the Mark IV are my favorite. Bulky as fuck in the shoulders and chest, making him look even more like a walking fortress. But tapered at the waist, making him look still athletic at the same time.
I know when you're taking about but all says is something like "No way is that a spartan??" BUT what you're thinking of is actually in Halo CE some marines will say "HEY LOOK A MARK 5"
I liked the chiefs armour in 4 and 5, I know a lot of that era’s style is hit or miss but it’s one of the hits for me, not as good as prior designs but I didn’t hate it. Palmer, Locke vale and buck all also got good gen 2 armour designs, blue team got done dirty especially my boy Fred, the concept art for his armour and the design on the cover of the novel last light are both so much better than his halo 5 armour that it’s sorta infuriating
Mark VI MP would have been way better. The entire Blue Team should have worn the Mark VI GEN2 with their personal helmets instead of this trashcan looking crap.
The armour change in 4 could have been easily just explained as "hey while you were sleep i improved your armour again try it on at the locker over there. It makes no sense that she modified it in the cryopod while he was frozen and asleep in it.
For as iconic the Mark VI is, I would have prefered Chief wore Mark VII for Halo Infinite. Redesign the helmet to be destinctly Master Chief and pick a nice shade of green and gold, and we have ourselves a great new design for our main man. Not to mention, the main character wearing "Mark 7" would have fit in with Halo's obsession with the number seven.
STILL wondering how Halo 4's Body Suit is more protective than the armor plating from 2's... Least his feet to Groin are similarly armored, yet his neck and Heart location in the chest are left open...In favor of protecting his upper abs...Not to mention, the shoulders of the very appendage he uses for utilizing weapons are best described as "Spaghetti Straps"
Let’s be honest, 343 hated Bungie design and wanted HALO 4 to be a Call Of Duty clone to get more gamers so they changed the whole art style and armor to Power Rangers to reflect the speed of the Spartans and to imitate the gameplay speed of COD. Now they made a lore explaining how he got is straight up dumb. I love bungie Halo art style 100% over 343 but glad they did kinda go back to the old art style.
I always thought the explanation for the H4/5 armor was just a change in art style between games and that he's had the same set since H3. Now explain why the Forward Unto Dawn was changed into a different class of ship that no longer has the hangar that MC canonically jumped a warthog into. 343 logic.
While a bit silly, the armor explanation is better than none. I’m fairly certain there’s no explanation for FUD though. Pretty sure the excuse was simply the inability to design an additional asset or something. I forget
Honestly, the explanation to how Cortana upgraded his armor while in cryosleep is so weak. I get that 343 was agree to set their version of Halo apart from Bungie’s but they should’ve waited for Halo 5 to do the armor upgrade, would’ve made perfect sense since Chief makes it back to human civilization at the end of Halo 4

I love how the thumbnail, all the pics of master cheif are from the game except the halo 4/5 armor which is just a picture of a mcfarlane toy
Damn. Is it? I don’t even remember. How can you tell?
That nonobots bs makes no sense. It was just a lame design change. In H4 he should have the MkVI GEN1 and in H5, the MkVI GEN2 instead of this trashcan "Mod".
Grow up, the suit looked good in 4
@@txcgladiator4030 Wrong, it's ugly and subopltimal and looks nothing like Mark VI. I have to vomit every time I see it and my eyes start to hurt and bleed.
@@MarsiB013cry about it
@@iaincampbell2740 Womp womp.
@@txcgladiator4030it looked like complete trash in Halo 4. Only h4 kids who didn't play the originals prior to it think that his armor looks good in 4. It was nowhere near as iconic as his Halo 3 armor.
The mojlner armor was being developed as exosuits for the marines, before the spartan 2's were even ready for combat. they originally put standard marines in the suits, but even when testing, it literally broke the people inside the suits. Then it was suggested it was used for the spartan 2's
The mark 6 gen 3 is upgradeable
MK 6 armor was so iconic, but either way Chief looks sick in any
people ask why did he stay with this standard mjolnir armor and didn’t go with different specific armor when it was available to him was simply bc he was jack of all trades but master of none. where as Juun from Noble Team had sniper/stealth armor bc the only missions he was sent on were sniper/stealth mission mainly, that where he was a master.
I literally rolled my eyes when I saw that opening scene with the Mark 6 helmet 😂 still iconic...not matter how brittle that suit was 😂
"Research&Technology, 'know your enemy's stuff', it's a war sergeant..."
The Mark 6 modified is incredible! Maybe the Best one tbh.
What a weird looking little guy in the corner 😂
I’ve loved to see him in a mark 4 gen 3
Chief didn’t get Mark 5 until Halo 2. He had the last variant of Mk 4 which had shields installed when he reached Alpha Halo
Weird how he didn’t get the special ops armor that Naomie had in the books, where her armor automatically modified and upgrades itself using nano tech , considering how long masterchiefs active combat scenarios are figured they’d give him one of the self sustaining suits
4 is a great look, but 2 and 3 is Master Chief.
dude his armor in infinite looks so good
In that graphic novel I believe there is a team called spartan black team
Based for choosing Halo 5 ost. I know it doesn't have that Halo feel but it's underrated imo.
Halo 5 sound track is killer, idc what anyone says
i hate when creators say "let me explain" 🙄 BRO NOBODY'S STOPPING YOU
I was told over time after taking millions of shots to your armour they tend to wear. Lmao
Thanks
Dude, you rock! Thanks!
@@Woodyisasexybeastyour welcome, i actually didnt know i donated cause my phone i think didnt go to sleep mode in my pocket, but good short anway, keep up the good work.🙂
Oh shit. Were you able to reverse it?
Uh, not sure, but says it only paid $1 lol, but its fine really👍
Bros pfp is scarier than the flood
Hey my personal favorite is halo 4 armor
Mine is infinite with 4 being close behind
@@neroidius6915 Agreed completely.
That design and the Mark IV are my favorite. Bulky as fuck in the shoulders and chest, making him look even more like a walking fortress. But tapered at the waist, making him look still athletic at the same time.
It utterly sucks and looks corny.
Halo 3 love that armour
But on Halo 3 when you get the the Nest, one of the injured marines say “look a mark 5”
Not sure what you’re talking about. In Halo 3 he’s absolutely wearing Mark VI mjolnir
I know when you're taking about but all says is something like "No way is that a spartan??"
BUT what you're thinking of is actually in Halo CE some marines will say "HEY LOOK A MARK 5"
@@Woodyisasexybeastgotta play the game brother
@@nicholaswescott1038I could be wrong, I thought he said something like that
@coreysimmons8573 I’ve played the game. Marines don’t say that in Halo 3. Like the above commenter said, you’re likely thinking of CE.
I don’t hate Fred’s armor but it’s not really my favorite either. It’s just fine
@@Woodyisasexybeast I don't like the colour scheme, the darker blue and black from the last light cover is just so much better
Mark VI MP would have been way better. The entire Blue Team should have worn the Mark VI GEN2 with their personal helmets instead of this trashcan looking crap.
Dang mark 5 wasn’t even used that much. It was in service for like a year maybe and then upgraded to mark 6
Master chief is just futuristic Gordon freeman
The armour change in 4 could have been easily just explained as "hey while you were sleep i improved your armour again try it on at the locker over there. It makes no sense that she modified it in the cryopod while he was frozen and asleep in it.
He just upgraded the pixel count 😂
For as iconic the Mark VI is, I would have prefered Chief wore Mark VII for Halo Infinite. Redesign the helmet to be destinctly Master Chief and pick a nice shade of green and gold, and we have ourselves a great new design for our main man. Not to mention, the main character wearing "Mark 7" would have fit in with Halo's obsession with the number seven.
halo infinite nailed the armor (with the exception of the chimera)
Halo 2 and Infinite were upgrades.
4 was handwaved away as experimental nanomachines on a warbound vessel for some reason.🙄
Honestly like the halo infinite mark 6 armor the most
You don’t have to explain, son.
He changes his armor a lot.
I like the Halo 4 and 5 armor the best
STILL wondering how Halo 4's Body Suit is more protective than the armor plating from 2's...
Least his feet to Groin are similarly armored, yet his neck and Heart location in the chest are left open...In favor of protecting his upper abs...Not to mention, the shoulders of the very appendage he uses for utilizing weapons are best described as "Spaghetti Straps"
Halo 5 armor was so cool tho
I don't care if the MK V was instantly replaced, It's the best looking one IMO
Forehead.
I wonder if Chief will upgrade to mark vii in the next halo game
Miss the mark 5
The devs told me too
He had the mk 5 before the end of the fall of reach
He changed it so often because he saw Warhammer and kept asking for better armour 😂
It’s like halo wars doesn’t exist, mk 4 had energy shields
In 2531, yes. When they got it in 2525, not yet.
Mk. IV took years to develop. Mk. V took 20 years to make with the various changes to the final version. Mk. VI took 3 days...lol
Why does nobody talk about the black body suit he wore in the fall of reach movie
We can all agree halo 4 and halo 5 had the worst armor
They were my favorite design. 🤷♂️
Armor upgrades or downgrades? I can't tell if UNSC's smart idea of "upgrade shield" (from Halo 1 to NOW)
The most iconic is the Halo 2/3 armor
Change my mind
Same reason people get new phones
so he can play angrwy birds
I always thought the explanation for the H4/5 armor was just a change in art style between games and that he's had the same set since H3. Now explain why the Forward Unto Dawn was changed into a different class of ship that no longer has the hangar that MC canonically jumped a warthog into. 343 logic.
While a bit silly, the armor explanation is better than none. I’m fairly certain there’s no explanation for FUD though. Pretty sure the excuse was simply the inability to design an additional asset or something. I forget
@@Woodyisasexybeast The rumor I heard was that it was for a Megabloks set.
It changed because the dev's wanted more detail.
Graphics got better. That's all.
Didn’t he wear an armor similar to the one from Jerome at one point before Halo CE? I remember a cover from a book like that
Oh yeah. All the II’s did. I wanted to go over every permutation he’s ever worn but I just didn’t have time to cover the ones from before the games
He didn’t change his armor game developers js wanted to do that lol
Honestly, the explanation to how Cortana upgraded his armor while in cryosleep is so weak.
I get that 343 was agree to set their version of Halo apart from Bungie’s but they should’ve waited for Halo 5 to do the armor upgrade, would’ve made perfect sense since Chief makes it back to human civilization at the end of Halo 4
Mark 6 gen 3 is goated and so it's mark 5b
I'm ex military, I doubt he had a choice to choose his armor he's a E9 but that's nothing compared to the officers.
The H4 redesign was so dumb.
Mark IV to Mark V seems like a visual downgrade but internal upgrade.
FYI, I love the Mark IV a ton. Mark VI seems like a slimmer build of the Mark IV.
Doesn't mk 6 and everything above it have bio foam injectors?
Chiefs armor was still gen1 in halo 4 it was gen 2 in halo 5
