I recently moved to an area with better over the air TV reception due to a higher elevation. Where I am speaking specifically of a location in London, Ontario, Canada, my experience and the things I have learned are applicable for all locations in North America.

A common mistake of first time indoor TV antenna purchasers is attempting to match the distances from their location to major TV broadcast centers (like the ones seen below) with the exaggerated claims of reception range found in almost all TV antenna advertising.
