when a video makes you wanna grab your headphones you know its gonna be good. Sadly the naked ear cant pick up all the magical harmonies you are doing here
Sam, you bring me to tears with the pipe organ quality and power of your voice. Honestly, when I hear you sing, I can't help wanting to wrap my arms around you and love you forever. Your hair is epic, by the way. Keep enchanting us with your talent and your angelic self.
Listening to this version of this beautiful song took me way back to the time when the soundtrack of Oliver first came out. My mother got it for me, as she did with just about every sound track of every musical in the 60s, 70s. I listened to it over and over and poured over the photos on the album. They are forever embedded in my brain along with the music. It just struck me like a ton of bricks how blessed I was to know the sweet hello that was meant for only me. Thank you Sam.
Your mid-range dissonance are something to behold. That last measure or so sliding those into the major final was stunning! Your ears to hear are a gift!
Love the changing Sam's throughout. Thanks for the explanation. It really made the video more meaningful knowing this before I started watching. Beautiful both musically and visually! (BTW, you morphed into Avi Kaplan by the end lol!)
Wonderful and consistent high vowel placement and excellent breath support throughout. The harmonies are tight and nothing detracts from the message of the song. Great job.
Wow Sam, I've loved this song so much down through the years. I've heard it from choirs, opera/classical even Will Downing etc. Your arrangement and interpretation of this classic is just so beautiful and touches the soul and heart. Thank you for sharing.
Eric Whitaker taught us that great music and great technology can partner, and create utterly amazing music. I've always loved this song from 'Oliver', and it is not done often enough..but you did a lovely rendition..thanks, buddy..
I grew up surrounded by artists and jazz musicians, and The Singers Unlimited were always playing in the background. I learned this song from them. As a matter of fact, Bonnie Herman would become my mentor. I didn’t have a mom growing up as she passed away a few days after I was born, so I would hang onto every note Bonnie Herman sang. I studied her breathing, and soft, come hither voice, and I actually learned more than singing from her. I learned how to be feminine, how to speak, and I learned that our speaking voice should be as a gentle as our singing voice. Just from listening to her sing. And this was one of my favorite songs they did. Maybe you could do "Since You Asked." They did it so well. I bet you would do it better. OR.... maybe you could do "Jennifer's Rabbit." Oh wow. I would love to hear you do that one.
Sam your concepts and creativity blows my mind every time i listen to your music. I hope you get more that the 98,276 subscribers. It is inspiring to several people i have share your music with.
Wow!! that brings me back as an 8 year old watching Oliver for the 1st time and when he sang this song after being thrown in the basement. That was beautiful. I've subscribed now thanx for the trip down memory lane...
I have listened to this piece probably more than a hundred times and still hear new things. How do you manage to hear/project these sounds before they are there remains a mystery to me. Is it by experimentation, multiple go and retreat process to see what fits best? It's not only the intricate harmony, the timing, but even the seemingly insignificant sounds of the far background, sounding like orchestral violins, that add up to the quality of the final product. And yet, though so complex, it's clear and only magnifies the melody and message of this modest song.
Ummmmmmmmmmm... GORGEOUS!!!! Just beautiful, the arrangement, sound, voice - awesome!!!🤘 Love the last look, pulled back the hair, beard...lookin' good - and the pipes to match!!!!
Sam, You have an amazing ability to capture emotion in your arrangements. This one is nothing short of awesome! I hope to hear from you for many years to come!
I love this. I think you nailed the bitter sweet tenderness and heartache at the heart of the song, which is essential. I also loved the respect you gave the original arrangement, as a basis for forming your own sublime interpretation, without being flashy. This was a great musical experience. Thank you very much, and God Bless you!
I so love the changing and metamorphosis of the character from child-like, through youth to adulthood. Very creative and impactful. Very enjoyable, even after many and several repeats. :-)
These are incredible. If you're considering any more Disney songs, I really think Go the Distance from Hercules or anything from the Tarzan soundtrack would really suit your voice and style!
wow... just wow... I LOVE the dramatic SWELLS... and not knowing where it will go, so... entertaining, esp. changing singers! -- (Just to give this reply some "context"... I was in "Oliver", the school musical... So I know the song well. (I wasn't Oliver... I was everyone else! :-) Workhouse boy, Denhouse boy, but also the Knife Grinder in the Market scene. So yeah, I know the song well. Anyway... Great version. Sweeet.
That problem when your headphones aren't good enough to pick everything up:'( You are one of the only artists I have this problem with...And be assured it is an amazing problem to have!!!
This is such a tender, beautiful arrangement of this beautiful song. I find it very touching.

Like bruh you look like the light skinned version of avi.
Omg my exact thoughts!!! I thought it was Avi Kaplan for a quick second lol!!
Wonderful and consistent high vowel placement and excellent breath support throughout. The harmonies are tight and nothing detracts from the message of the song. Great job.
baffles me everytime how more people aren't subscribed to such greatness. Amazing!
Watching and listening to this video is like breathing underwater.
Loved this!! We used to sing this song in choir in high school. I don't think I've heard it in probably 25+ years. Beautiful rendition.

Beautiful, Sam! I even noticed a maturing in your tone throughout the song which goes along with your visual changes. One of my favorite songs.

I still listen to this a lot. He’s the only musician I donate to
Celestial and ear-catching -- as always... Beautifully arranged. Thank you for all these moving pieces!
It makes this all the more powerful to realize this is being sung by a little orphaned boy longing for his mom.
Coming close to the 100000 mark! Can't wait to see what you have planned for it, keep up the amazing work!
Wow!!!!!! Amazing!!!!! 💙💙💙
Sam, once again, just blown away by your talent!!!
Wow!! that brings me back as an 8 year old watching Oliver for the 1st time and when he sang this song after being thrown in the basement. That was beautiful. I've subscribed now thanx for the trip down memory lane...
