This movie is going to be a two-parter. Denis wants to give the story full justice, but the second part will only get greenlit if the first part does well.
In the 70s they plan to make a Dune movie. Alejandro Jodorowsky, the director wanted Pink Floyd for doing the music, and this mix is a tribute for that.

I’m always amazed when people who are not familiar with Dune watch this trailer and say they have no clue what it’s about after. People are so busy watching the visuals and recognizing cast members that they’re not listening to the dialogue which tells you pretty much everything about what the story is about 😂
I'm legit shocked Calvin is the only one of the crew that has seen either of the Dune adaptations (David Lynch or the Sci-Fi mini-series). If figured it was completely up the alley of the rest of the gang.
I'd push it back a year if I were WB. The way things are currently this could flop seei.g how Tenet ain't doing so well financially and I'd like to see a complete story with the 2 parts.
Was so excited to see this reaction - and now I'm so perplexed. You're major league Star Wars fans and you know nothing about Dune????? I'm preparing myself for the "rip off of Star Wars" from people who don't know this came first. DUNE is the grandfather of Star Wars - it's the book that inspired George Lucas. It's the reason Tatooine is a desert planet. It's also at least a partial inspiration for Game of Thrones - except in this case the warring houses are in space - House Atreides, House Harkonnen, House Corrino, the Bene Gesserit, the Fremen, the Spacing Guild, the Suk, the Mentats... And I suppose you've used "the weirding way" to keep Calvin from revealing anything - what's so hard about the names??? - Leto Atreides, Lady Jessica, Paul Atreides, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Duncan Idaho, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Stilgar, Reverend Mother Mohiam, Doctor Wellington Yueh, The Beast Rabban (BTW all of these characters are in the trailer). Guys, for the first time I'm underwhelmed by your reaction.
Man, such a vast and complex universe ! Space Guild, Houses, Bene Gesserit, Butlerian Jihad and Orange Catholic Bible ! This saga still haunts me to this day...
Dude i can't even explain how stupid excited i am about this movie! I am a big fan of the book (i read only the first book yet). And i LOVE Denis Villeneuve movies so much. I mean just take a look at the list of movies he did. It is beyond impressive! Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario and Arrival are all his films for the people who are not familiar with him. I recommend ALL of these movies, every single one of them is just amazing filmmaking!
A lot of Star Wars comes is from this. Dune came out in 1965. I think you can see where The directors and fighters or SW had to have used it as source references.
Star Wars took A LOT from Dune (Lucas admitted it) but i’m expecting people to act as if this movie is ripping off Star Wars. I’m NOT looking forward to that.
There will be two movies for the first book, they've only shot the first part. Finally someone who has seen the miniseries! I vastly prefer it as a more accurate version to the 80s film. The dragonfly planes are called ornithopters, the idea is that they have flapping wings to fly. The nose tube is to collect moisture as you breathe out because the planet is so arid you have to collect ALL moisture. The animal trapped line is so good, from the book: "You've heard of animals chewing off a leg to escape a trap. there's an animal kind of trick. a human would remain in the trap endure the pain feigning death that he might kill the trapper and remove a threat to his kind."
The first Dune book has been at the top of my science-fiction favorites list for decades. I’m surprised that all of you guys haven’t read it. It’s part of the core, and it is the basis for so many newer scifi universes that you guys like like Star Wars, Game of Thrones, etc. Without Dune, none of that stuff would’ve existed.
Folks see Star Wars, or Game of Thrones in Space. And I won’t dispute that. But if you read the first book, it’s more like “Lawrence of Arabia in Space”
Everything about this movie is insane ! The director Denis Villeneuve is the perfect choice in term of style and hes a fan of the book ! The cast is Oscar worthy, the soundtrack is Hans Zimmer who refused to do Tenet to do Dune...I have never seen so many perfect choice been made for essentially the Lord of the Ring of Sci-fi...About time !!
This movie is supposed to cover the first half of the first book. If it is successful the studio wants to make the second part. Villeneuve already signed that he'll direct it too.
I saw Dune once sometime in the 80s. Never read the book either. But what really introduced me to Dune was the game, which was the game that popularized the RTS genre. The first game was great, but the 2nd was mindblowing. Without Dune the game, you won't get Command & Conquer, Starcraft, Age of Empire and the likes.
Denis Villeneuve's version (part 1 and 2) will be the 3rd adaptation; the books that were written in the mid-60s, which are considered the greatest science fiction of all time, have influenced subsequent works, like Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Blade Runner, Hayao Miyazaki's anime film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, as well as Tremors, Beetlejuice and even Futurama. It's also inspired songs by Pink Floyd (covered by Hans Zimmer for this trailer and was supposed to be included in the never-materialized Dune from the 70s), Iron Maiden and Tool. Even Alien's HR Giger was impacted by the Harkonnen technology.
y'all's reaction was so much less hyped than i was expecting. learn about this story, it's incredible! star wars stole most of it. the first book was published in 1965. ALSO TIMOTHEE CHALAMET. ALWAYS A WINNER.

Still love them, just i would expect a little more from Calvin as he is a fan, maybe he could have taken a figurative front seat in this one... they managed to name drop SO MUCH OTHER stuff that actually took inspo from Dune in the first place And I am stoked to see Chalamet as Paul, just recently saw him in King and couldn´t take my eyes off him, he has such quiet dignity about him, I don´t know how to say it better.
Denis Villeneuve is planning to split the story from the first book into 2 movies to make the movies as close to the book as possible. I also read that they are planning to make a mini-series. The mini-series will focus more on the story/world of the Bene Gesserit. Last but not least, I think they'll also release an animated series or movie.

Answering your questions guys: this film will be HALF OF THE FIRST BOOK (halfiiish... who knows the story already got an idea where it will finish *wink wink*). I really, really, hope it does well enough in the box office to grant us a sequel. At least. There's a whole series and lore to tackle, but getting the first book is essential!
"What's this?" Dude, it's like you've never even watched the David Lynch vers--wait. HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN THE DAVID LYNCH VERSION? (sees Eric Roth has a screenplay credit) (knows Roth won an Oscar for adapting Forrest Gump) (also knows Roth wrote The Concorde...Airport '79) (sweats)
This movie is the first half of the first book. For people who watched Dune 1984, this appears to be up to the point where Paul is accepted by the Fremen. Which makes sense, considering there is a time jump between the first and second half of the first book.
well, the resumen of these "trailer reaction is": 2 guys enjoying the trailer experience ....and 2 guys saying bad jokes and stupid comments during ALL the trailer interrupting every nice moment of the trailer .... These videoreminds me some comments that RED LETTER MEDIA said about modern "nerd culture youtube channel".
The nuns are powerful and Pauls mom is one, shes not married to his dad the Duke, the nuns have had a selective breeding program for centuries, his mom Jessica was supposed to bear a daughter by the Duke but betrayed orders and had a son Paul. The nuns are so powerful that if they killed Paul theres nothing the Duke would do in retaliation. The test was putting his hand in the box or die. Paul seems to be the only male with Bene Gesserit (Nun) capabilities. He was also unknowingly trained to become a Mentat which is a human super computer, in a time where computers are forbidden. I'm listening to it right now. It's insanely good and sounds very fresh even though it was written 55 years ago!
I'm slightly gobsmacked that you guys don't know anything about Dune!! It's like an iconic sci-fi saga?!?!? It's 6 books by the way, huge epic doesn't even come close to describing it. Herbert's son has continued the stories in a further set of books too. I'm amazed that this only covers the first half of the first book.... it'll take them decades to make the whole story. LOL.
Its actually more like 11 books with the prequel but the main ones of Hebert are the 5 first...it forged sci-fi and the concept of planetary ecology !

Spot on
It’s gonna be 2 movies it’s confirmed
this one has to do well first though, then wb will let denis do part 2
@@chance757 most of the exiting stuff will be in the second movie tbh. So Im pretty sure they'll allow it.
@Berk Çetinbaş not if it bombs
@@muthiscocuq8berq I mean, that depends on if people will go to theatres to watch the first one. Mainstream audiences might just show up for Zendeya and Momoa, and I don't think they'll get what they paid for there. And despite Denis doing a brilliant job with BR2049, the fact remains that that movie lost a shit ton of money and this is likely to have the same vibe - quiet, contemplative, and slow-paced.
Chance I think they already filmed it
I think
Villeneuve + Hans Zimmer + Greig Fraser.. with that ensemble of actors and amazing source material. Seeing as you guys love star wars, and it taking a lot of its lore directly from Dune, you’ll most likely enjoy it.
Denis hasn't let me down so far, I have faith that he's gonna pull this off and cement his place as a modern master of his craft
George lucas has never said he was even remotely inspired by Dune and they are both (openly) said to have been inspired by Lawrence of Arabia. "Desert Planet" and "generic sci-epic" tropes are not influence, and certainly like "directly from". Stop spreading bullshit.
Tyrantofthewind its common knowledge by now that Lucas stole from Dune, Kurosawa, and a lot of others to create his work.
@@War_Maker No, it isn't. Lucas credits a ton of properties for "inspiring" Star Wars. Dune is not among them. There are 20 minute videos available on TH-cam with Lucas praising Kurosawa... Do you know how many times he has said Dune inspired him? Zero. Do you know why? Because only a jealous Herbert (who saw Star Wars blow up while his property failed to generate even a fraction of the success) and idiots who do not understand the innumerable tropes utilized in Dune were around long before it, believe Dune inspired Star Wars. Get your head out of your ass and stop spreading bullshit.

I was wonder when they do it. But they explanation was understandable. Calvin referencing Dune make me happy many times!
These guys are seriously ignorant about a foundational key stone of sci fi universe.
Dune (published 1965) was the original source material and provided ‘inspiration’ for Star Wars, Tremors etc
Asimov's Foundation series inspired Dune. The OG Galactic Empire in fiction.
It is NOT A REMAKE of any previous adaptations!!!
It's a re-adaptation.

Tremors?!?! Really?!?! Somebody just lost their SciFi Badge!
I searched up "Blind Wave Dune trailer reaction" and saw that this video was posted "24 seconds ago" wow
I am amazed at how few of these sci-fi/comic/rpg themed reaction and discussion channels have not read let alone heard of Dune. The book is going on over 50 years, still holds up and is arguably the greatest science-fiction book and arguably one of the overall greatest books ever written.
This movie is going to be a two-parter. Denis wants to give the story full justice, but the second part will only get greenlit if the first part does well.
They have my ticket.
Then the first better do well else everyone will be pissed
@@nyxknight7555 Well ... Only those that will think the first part did well.
The trailer was well recieved so that gives me hope
No, it’s already been filmed. They filmed it in it’s entirety and edited it into 2 parts.
In the 70s they plan to make a Dune movie. Alejandro Jodorowsky, the director wanted Pink Floyd for doing the music, and this mix is a tribute for that.
Well, we assume it is, I don't think there's been confirmation, but I might have missed it
To think Calvin would be the Kwisatz Haderach of Blind Wave! I am shocked! And happy to see him be better and have a smile of glorious excitement on his face during the trailer!!!
Blessed is the maker and his water! May his passing cleanse the world!
Denis Villeneurve has said that this is gonna cover the first half of the book.
The first half of the first book? There are six books in the saga.
@@thinkhaven7902 first half of the first book
Every time someone in the trailer explained more of the plot you talked over it. good timing.
If figured it was completely up the alley of the rest of the gang.
and read the book most importantly
It's two movies appearantly.
MavenCree and a spinoff tv show
the 2nd hasn’t been green lit yet. denis only gets the funding if this one does well.
I'd push it back a year if I were WB. The way things are currently this could flop seei.g how Tenet ain't doing so well financially and I'd like to see a complete story with the 2 parts.
@@chance757 Part II was green lit in June.
Hopefully a vaccine for you know what is finally made by that time and this pandemic can be just a distant bad memory like small pox and polio was.
“You get color by putting a razor on your forehead”
A man of culture I see
Man, such a vast and complex universe ! Space Guild, Houses, Bene Gesserit, Butlerian Jihad and Orange Catholic Bible ! This saga still haunts me to this day...
The movie will just be 1/2 of the first book!
In case you didn’t know. Pink is actually the best color for camouflage in desert scenarios.
I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time.
The comments in all the dune videos got me already reading the book
Remember when we didn't question "Only In Theaters" and that was just default. Now its wishful thinking
The sand crawlers in Star Wars were based off of concept art for the very first attempt to make a Dune movie. Lucas has said as much himself.
Dune walked so Star Wars could run.
Walk without Rhythm and you won't attract the Worm 😉

Scifi's Mini Series Directors Cut is by far the best version out so far!
Most book accurate. And I love the costumes.
I agree though I think this upcoming version will blow that out of the water.
Yes I own it! So good!
The miniseries costumes were hot garbage...
The Guild Navigators looked so bad it was hilarious. Bits of it were good but the special effects budget must've been spent on something else.
The animal trapped line is so good, from the book: "You've heard of animals chewing off a leg to escape a trap. there's an animal kind of trick. a human would remain in the trap endure the pain feigning death that he might kill the trapper and remove a threat to his kind."
the Dragonfly Ornithopter's remind me of the old 1989 Dune RTS PC game (Interplay not Westwood)
Turns out pink is a great camouflage in the desert.
Love the reactions of the guys who’s read the book and are just sitting there quietly
Read the book, all questions will be answered and you'll be a LOT more excited for the film.
When I was a kid if you hadn't read both the Dune series and the Foundation series you were not considered a true scifi fan.
Folks see Star Wars, or Game of Thrones in Space. And I won’t dispute that.
But if you read the first book, it’s more like “Lawrence of Arabia in Space”
I love when Rick slips wrestling references into videos. "You get colour with a razorblade to the forehead."
Timothy Chalamette is exactly how Paul is described in the book...scary
Momoa as Idaho, Chambalet and Issacs as Atredies, Bautista as Beast Rabban. Hell yes!
Remember Dune was a series of books so more movies is possible.
As a fanatic DUNE-fan i am hyped but also aware i live in my fanbubble. So i am very happy to see positive reactions of the average movie enthousiast.
This movie is supposed to cover the first half of the first book. If it is successful the studio wants to make the second part. Villeneuve already signed that he'll direct it too.
The moment I saw the trailer I bought the book. It is really good so far. Also Calvin I am happy you feel better now.
What happened to him?
I got my copy of the book out and started re-reading it after watching the trailer.
I'm very surprised that Calvin is the only one to have watched the movies and read the books.
If they manage to adapt up until God Emperor of Dune then I can die a happy man.
yes indeed the first four books are a must
I hope that these movies are successful enough for that
Denis Villeneuve's version (part 1 and 2) will be the 3rd adaptation; the books that were written in the mid-60s, which are considered the greatest science fiction of all time, have influenced subsequent works, like Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Blade Runner, Hayao Miyazaki's anime film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, as well as Tremors, Beetlejuice and even Futurama.
ALWAYS A WINNER.
yeah right? I kinda feel like if Eric is not invested, it rather shows in the final product. Still love them, just i would expect a little more from Calvin as he is a fan, maybe he could have taken a figurative front seat in this one... they managed to name drop SO MUCH OTHER stuff that actually took inspo from Dune in the first place
And I am stoked to see Chalamet as Paul, just recently saw him in King and couldn´t take my eyes off him, he has such quiet dignity about him, I don´t know how to say it better.
Do they not know who timothee chalamet is...I didn't see anyone mentioning his name..

Supposedly the first Book - Dune - will be split into two movies by Denis D. I am stoked!
"A Star Wars for adult"...Denis Villeneuve
thank god for Calvin being the resident Dune nerd. like cmon guys you are into super geeky things and Dune is the like... the granddaddy of scifi, and the influencer of a lot of the nerdy things you love! pay some respect to the classics. My heart would love for this to become a trilogy so we could get some Children of Dune happening.
NOT A REMAKE - they will make 2 movies to cover the first Dune novel, with options of doing many, many more
we need denis Villanueve's Arrival on a movie reaction poll

The Cast is insane, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista + Denis Villeneuve. Im pretty stoked.
Are you going to react to the new trailer?
Eric the nose tube was to capture body moisture in the desert...it's called a still suit(ie desert survival suit)
The funniest thing about that worm at the end is that, if the scale is right, that is on the VERY small end of the worms. They get BIG.
Calvin was lighting up watching this. I have a beautiful version of the dune book that I adore.

The role of Feyd (Stings role in the 80's movie) has been cut from this version of the film...only 'the Beasts' (Dave Bautista) role has remained.
This movie is the first half of the first book. For people who watched Dune 1984, this appears to be up to the point where Paul is accepted by the Fremen.
Which makes sense, considering there is a time jump between the first and second half of the first book.

As a real sci fi fan I lol. Star Wars was based a large part on Dune. FYI.
That's why the Guild ships in this trailer look like Sand Crawlers.
Star Wars was not "based on" Dune. Lucas took some concepts from Dune but they are still very different stories with different morals.
well, the resumen of these "trailer reaction is": 2 guys enjoying the trailer experience ....and 2 guys saying bad jokes and stupid comments during ALL the trailer interrupting every nice moment of the trailer ....
I'm listening to the audio book now lol
So how many of us read the books back in the day while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon? Paul did what Anakin could not, embrace the sand.
Love love love the DUNE logo, looks like it is done using the hooks used by Fremen to climb up the worms. .
They got Pink in there, just not the way you may have expected.
Pink actually works pretty well as camouflage in the desert.
"Who wears pink in the desert?"

Re-reading the book and it’s described as drab and bland desert, with a white sun, which is why it looks like that

Apparently Star Wars (the original trilogy) ripped a lot of stuff from Dune
There's a chart I found somewhere that shows this, with a quote from Frank Herbert
I have heard that this is meant to be a two parter and there is supposed to be two series created for HBO.
I absolutely can’t wait for this! I may actually go against my better judgement and see it in IMAX in theaters... it’s the first of two parts for the first book and maybe the second book in Dune and Dune Messiah.
I don't need to add _another_ comment about how amazing and influential this story is, how good the book is, how good the movie is, yada yada... what **I** want to comment about it how much I loved the way the guy on the left literally POUNDS the mouse 🤣🤣🤣
You guys are the only reactors I have found thus far to have identified Zendaya BY NAME as Chani. Thank you! With more well-known names like Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa also being in DUNE 2020, it is quite easy for Zendaya to be lost in the shuffle.
It’s weird that Zendaya they mentioned but Timothée Chalamet , who’s an Academy Award nominated actor and literally playing the lead role of Paul, not even mentioned. Zendaya was on set for 4 days. Hope they make the follow up movie though so she can actually see more of Chani.
