    Thanks so much! This seat is a little tricky to get locked into place and your video and explanation were very helpful. Keep up the good work!

    Thank you. I just got my Hobie Outback 2020 and I was "fumbling" with it all night on the water. You even made attaching it easier.

    Thanks so much. I am having difficulty with the recline lever. I am trying to decrease the amount of recline but when pulling on the grey lever there isn’t any change. Are there any adjustments I need to make ?

    How does the lumber support work ?
    It seems to be just a horizontal bar that does not effect the seating

    How do I adjust the recline lever. When I try to move the seat forward and then pull the lever out the tension on my seat straps doesn’t increase as it did on your video to limit recline. Thanks so much for your help.

      Pull the crosspiece apart
      8 screws to remove
      The bungee cord may need replacing
      Easy to do

    Great illustration, the hobie manufacturing site wasn't clear at all and never showed how to remove the seat, adjust up & down in front and nothing about the tilt back or lumbar. Thanks

    Just switched from a 2014 TI to the 2022 TI with the Vantage seats. The biggest surprise to me was I miss the old style seat when under sail. The boat heals to leeward so the Vantage seat of course tips downwind, side to side. This causes you to have to lean upwind, to the left or right, and your spine is not straight, this is okay for a short time but if you sail very long it gets tiresome. With the old style I could move to the leeward side, change the angle of the seat, and straighten my back. Other than that the new seat is much more comfortable. It'd be nice if you could raise just one side of the seat. Or maybe have a left to right wedge to sit on.

    Mine has what appears to be leg extensions for the seat. How do these work?

    • @garrettgautreaux4080
      @garrettgautreaux4080 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine too, no one talks about them but the little pegs slide into the holes near each one and makes the seat even higher. I assume that it could also be added to use the seat out of the kayak but not too sure why you’d want to

      This is so you can take the seat out of the kayak and use it on the ground. Not to be used in the kayak . Not stable in the boat.

    Hi guys, great informative video.
    Quick question - is the stability of the boat affected by the change in seat height?

    • @AmericanKayakSupply
      @AmericanKayakSupply  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jason, that's a really great question! Technically the stability of the boat itself remains the same, however when you are in a higher seating position you have a higher center of gravity. The higher your center of gravity is in any boat, the more tippy the boat will feel. That being said, Hobie has designed this seating system specifically not to exceed any height that would compromise how stable you feel in the boat. The main perk of being able to adjust height is that in windy conditions you can lower your seat to lessen wind resistance, and in more calm conditions you can raise the seat to be more comfortable and have a better vantage point.

    I have a Hobie Rev13, not at all impressed with its tracking and maneuverability. I was using it without the drive system, paddle only. Id get in the current paddling with it, and not a strong current either, and the kayak would start to spin 180 and no matter how hard i teied to correct, it would not respond and Id end up going backwards. I have kayaked for 7 yrs now and never had any of the non-hobie kayaks I rented, not the respond when correction was needed.

    Is it possible to adjust the seat back and forth for different leg lengths?

    • @AmericanKayakSupply
      @AmericanKayakSupply  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drive cranks are adjustable for different leg lengths, so there's no need for the seat to move forwards and backwards

      it's made in china, too. its very comfortable. i can spend 12 hours on the water and walk out of it ok. but i do agree. the price tag is very steep and im always afraid to lose it or have it stolen
