I absoutely agree that Starcom was the most underappreciated line of the 80s. I got in to Starcom as it was going out. I found the entire line on clearance at Hills department store in West Virginia. Because it was on clearance, I was able to get a bunch of the vehicles for not a lot of money. But then I never saw them again.
We got Starcom in the UK in the mid/late 80s and I still have loads of loose ones in a big box somewhere! The only one I didn't get and regret was the Six Shooter. Some of the very late smaller vehicle releases also escaped me, probably because of regional distribution. I still keep my eye out for them at toy fairs though!
If you guys love starcom as much as i did, go check out what teccotoys is doing with 3d prints. Very similar, we talked and he too is a huge starcom fan at heart.
I had the elevator space station set and I can still hear that sound of the elevator working and man I loved these toys as a kid so awesome I can't believe that to this day we haven't seen a magnetic gimmick that worked as well and as fun as starcom
I would think to my parents that all those winding gear sounds may have been annoying. But I still love hearing it. I must be conditioned to associate that sound with fun. Tomy really made some solid motors.
I have a few starcom sets back in the day the the Shadow Raider and Shadow bandit being the largest of them I also had the command pod for the good guys but never had any of their figures of vehicles . but I fondly remember playing with the starmaxx and star wolf that a friend had , great line , they really put a lot of thought into how they worked
It was produced by DiC and has some great animation, especially in about the first 5 episodes. Power deploy sequences start being reused after that, but the stories and characters remain solid. You can see some very clear inspiration from Star Trek (original series).
Amazing finds! So glad you found and shared that catalogue with us! Starcom was awesome and thankfully i could find them here in Canada. I should redo my old video of those.
Thanks! I will check that video out. Finding that Canadian 1988 insert cross-sell catalog was so difficult. I knew it existed but didn't realize that the cover is the same as the common 1987 insert.
StarCom is a big love of mine. I have been doing online searches for catalogs, magazines, and anything I can find almost monthly for....oh wow...over 20 years. Then suddenly this was about $20 on eBay. So excited.
I love Starcom. Absolutely wonderful line of toys. Working on getting all the north american released figures right now. All I need vehicle wise is the Upriser. Good luck to me 😆
Loved this! I’m Reconnecting to starcom after the 1980s and 90s as a kid. I remember as a high school kid in the 90s my friend and I made a stop motion video with his parents camcorder using astarcom figure and the base with the elevator. Where did you get that shirt?!?
That is one of the other few contenders for sure. How they have not had much of a modern presence is strange. Other brands have had new comics, toys, and cartoons. But they haven't even had an official t-shirt?
Star Com = Perfecr 5th. Any musicians here? When I started taking ear training classes and I learned what a Perfect 5th interval was supposed to sound like.. I immediately heard that STAR COM in my head from the commercials and TV show.

Fantastic video and informations!
Make a video for the released figures and vehicles 😊

In Canada I remember the second series toys being advertised in Consumers Distributing catalogs
Do you know if Mattel still have the rights to starcom?
Great video... this was all new to me. Very cool stuff.
great episode. I did not know there was a starcom cartoon to go along with the toyline.

i have the starmax bomber, starwolf, shadow parasite, and all the 3 main colonels in the animation. All were destroyed by sociopath sibling.
Excellent video! That catalog is a treasure!
Thanks. I really appreciate it!

I freaking loved Star Com!
How did you come by the catalogs?

Really interesting stuff thank you for making!
Fantastic episode! Thank you so much for digging deep and unearthing all of this great info!
Thanks again for watching! I really appreciate your support.

I think the Upriser was the last vehicle I needed. The last 3 figures were Speed, Cronax, and Bomber. It is all so worth it.
Excellent episode once again!! Love StarCom and whoever made that shirt is a genius!!
Yes he is! And thanks again!

Actually in my opinion I think d i n o r i d e r s is more under appreciated than star c o m lol

I had never heard of this, so I just watched a youtube video on octaves and a perfect 5th. Yeah, I can definitely hear the StarCom commercial in that.
Is there a website to identify what Starcom figure I own?
What about the double fighter?
I included it at 17 minutes in, but would love to have additional original images and would share them if I ever get them.
