00:40: Nice Star Wars reference. Luke and Han did the same with those two Stormtroopers. :D Anyways, Malcolm McDowell really made my jaw drop in this one. This is what I call acting. Brilliant, just brilliant. I'm really impressed.
As a kid I loved this scene, as an adult I suddenly realize, did it not occur to Blair to take, you know, a camera with him and taken some pictures of what he was finding? I mean seriously, I get that that at the end it's about his reputation and integrity winning the way, but if all that evidence disappeared before it could be collected by Confed, Blair's testimony would become hearsay overnight.
You'll notice that His gun is coupled with a 3d motion analyser(Kind of like a kinect sensor) coupled with electro-magnetic barrel that can automatically shift the projectile, making it more or less autoaim weapon. Today we can't make these type of weapons due to lack of energy efficiency but in the future when energy weapons are more common... well you get the idea.
Bill Forschten is a Huge New Genrich supporter. He and Newt worked on several books together. I disagree with their politics but more than anything his book ending of WC4 was terrible. It really lends... insight... into his politics when he says Tolwyn was really a sympathetic character that was just misunderstood. Scary stuff!
Had to watch the video again to realize what you were talking about. That rack of bio weapons do look like someone simply went to the liquor store to buy some whiskey containers.
I remember seeing Tolwyn take the podium for the first time in this cutscene and i was like "what the F .. !!?? :O :O and i just let him go from the Intrepid!"
I've noticed that, too. And I've also noticed some similarities between Admiral/Space Marshall Tolwyn and Generalfeldmarshall Hermann Göring. They had similar titles (obviously), were both sentenced to death and comitted suicide.
@Fbueller129 Yeah except the guy that wrote that book is a Big Newt Gingrich supporter and at the end basically said "yeah Tolwyn was right to do what he did." It totally ruined the Ends do Not justify the means moral of the games story.
@TERACEPHIL If they made another Wing Commander game for the PC, I'd buy it on the release date. That said, Wing Commander Saga is looking pretty good so far.
If you don't already know, theres Star Citizen and its single player component Squadron 42. Mark Hamil is even in it, along with John Rhys-Davies and a string of other A listers. Andy Serkis is also involved, playing one of the antagonist species and they used his Imaginarium studios for the game. Oh and Gary Oldman is playing S42's version of Tolwyn, although it's unclear if this one will go rogue.
I remember seeing a comment like this many years ago; another replied that there's a possibility that the gen-select serum or whatever spared him because he probably had high intelligence (just not common sense, heh).
@@bub777 the GE program was supposed to create the “perfect warrior” either through breeding or genetic tinkering. The serum bio weapon wasn’t used on potential Black Lance members. They were never exposed to the weapon, which was used on normal people. Perfect vision is a must for a “perfect” warrior. One could fantasise and claim they’re AR glasses. But that’s kinda a big stretch.
I guess Luke finally took Han's advice and got a good blaster by his side.
LOL!
I loved Malcolm MacDowell in this.. he played the part scarily well!
Love how the sets here are the same as the Lexington with all the lights turned off. Darkness immediate evil makes!
Before there was Commander Shepard, there was Christopher Blair.
And before there was Illusive Man, there was Tolwyn

"Aren't you a little short for Black Lance?"
Considering how he was probably paid peanuts for this role, McDowell gave a career performance in this game.

Love that Dragon, my fave Wing Commander ship
Would have been useful in Prophesy.
one of my favorite scenes in the game thanks!
Christopher Blair shoots two people without pausing to aim. He hits both in the heart.
Badass.

There's nothing misunderstanding or well-intentioned about Tolwyn. He's an insane warhawk.

Whey, looks like they got their shipment of weights in.
Looks like their shipment of free weights came in, now they can open that 24 Hour Fittness XD
icyjoey u rock for posting these... freakin throw bak from the good ole days when pc games were great
Love this game, but always wondered how they didn't recognize the saviour of the confederation to Seether pointed him out..
The true form of Alex Delarge.
I remember seeing this and waiting for a Kilrathi to walk up to the podium.
What a twist right.
I'm half expecting Tie Fighters to attack his Dragon...lol
Waaaay before Star Trek, his PADD is a Apple Newton
This game was made in ?1995? It still looks awesome.
blair: "GOOD GOD! They stole my 20 year old sctoch and my freeweights.....uh they are gonna pay....ohhh gonna pay once I learn the Force and stuff"
Today is Malcom Mcdowell's 68th birthday.
why didn't they have Malcolm McDowell in Iron Sky?
I suppose this is Wing Commanders version of the Wagner group.
Who? Bill Forstchen or Ben Ohlander. They both worked on WC4's novelisation.
i like seether but i love blair :S

I thought the Black Lance were genetically enhanced! Why is one of them wearing glasses? Isn’t deficiency in vision an inferior genetic trait?😄
