oh my goodness , this exactly the type of video I needed to find.. our Aura came a couple of days ago and I'm terrified of screwing something up. You are so easy to follow and understand!!
The engrave should be deep enough to get nice, dark lettering. I haven't tried to fill in the engrave, but have seen some use foiling or acrylic paint (messier option, for sure!)
I tried to download the pencil jib but it wouldn't open on my computer. I'm on a mac. I should maybe try it on my Windows computer and see if that makes a difference.
I need help😢. I'm new to this. I've been watching your video and following every step, but my Aura keeps saying "print stopped, Unable to complete print"😢 I don't understand. Please help
with the free SVG file provided is it possible to adjust the width and height of the jig as I would like to make this tool for engrave metal idy bracelets.
The USPS priority boxes are pretty easy to cut. For an Aura, I'd start with the "Cardstock" proofgrade setting. If you find a batch of cardboard that's a little hardier, the "Maple Veneer" proofgrade setting should take care of it. For a Performance (CO2) unit, the 1/8" corrugated cardboard material setting works great. Amazon boxes may require some tweaking as they keep changing their box thickness and composition.
My favorite material for jigs... Recycled USPS Priority Mail boxes. Recycled Amazon boxes work too.
Love this idea!!

👏🏿👏🏿. Nice video. I will be getting a glowforge this week. Subscribed!
Awesome, I hope you love it!
Thanks for sharing! I'm having a hard time unzipping the folder for the jig. I'm able to open other folders from your site.
That's weird! Can you email my team at help@heyletsmakestuff.com and we'll get you some help! :)
Amazing! Can’t wait to get mine!!! What kind of pens would this work on?
I am not sure! Pencils are easy because they are wood and the Aura engraves wood really easily. I would have to do some testing with pens.
So I have made the jig prepared the pencils what material should I choose.. getting a warning about proofgrade materials basically
Instead of setting the material, use the manual engrave settings I mentioned in the video. Then you don't need to choose a material. :)
@@HeyLetsMakeStuff thank you I had put the settings in
Great work! What would you suggest to fill the engraving to make the lettering stand out and pop?

The zip wouldn't open? I have a Mac and it seems to open just fine for me.
Thanks! I'm having a hard time finding the SVG file. It says it's "below" on the page, but I still don't see it.
Oh goodness, I forgot to add it! You can find it in my library here: hey-let-s-make-stuff.ck.page/09b416df68

Please help
Is there any type of error code? Can you see if there's a minor fire or anything like that when it's cutting?

If you have an editing software like InkScape or Illustrator, you might be able to edit it!
Will this jig work for pens?
Really depends on the pen!
I don't see the jig download.. is it labeled somewhere
Whoops! So sorry about that! You can find it in my craft library here: heyletsmakestuff.com/library/#laser
I just went to the store to get pencils… thank you I am enjoying this glowforge so far
@CLTGeek Hi, thank you for sharing. Specific settings?
