I just feel like in school the issue is we are not taught how to do the most important life things, from getting a job, taxes, how to manage money, how to critic, etc.
Highschool teaches you absolutely random irrelevant things you you to live your life. Another is that school teaches you to try to get a good grade and menorize and not how to learn. College so far for me does that a little better than highschool depending on my classes.

16:17 I’m from Texas tbh. You know what sucks…state exams. The STAAR test was HORRIBLE. You have 4 hours to complete a 40 question test and going to the restroom when taking the STAAR test was horrible too. So basically only 1 person can go to the bathroom because if multiple people go they can “cheat” and you’re not allowed to talk about the test during lunch. Felt like prison

i think the only thing we should learn in school is like elementary school stuff like reading writing, basic math, a little biology and a little geography to know where we are in the earth. The rest should be that you can choose the subject (idk if it is the right word english is not my native language) you are interested in. The only good thing we learn from school nowadays are in 2 groups. 1:the stuff we dont use in our life, only if your job needs it. 2: the useful things like what type of cleaner chemicals not to mix bc it creates ammonia or chlorine gas(mustard gas). I dont know how is school in the US bc im from Hungary. LONG HEADASS Version:
-My sleep is fucked so I usually stayed up late and woke early anyways so no problem with waking early, I know many people struggle with that.
-On god, school transportation is terrible, I recall being outside in -15F weather waiting on the bus for an hour because the drivers don't know their route and the route changes sometimes but they have an outdated map to reference. Needless to say my mom let me stay home. 20 mins later the bus drove by.
-HW is kinda understandable, some need the practice. Because they're incapable of comprehending the subject and don't ask for help like they should be. I just got complacent whenever I got super simple bs so I wouldn't do it and that's on me.
-As much as I would like for your education to only be focused on whatever career you wish to pursue I'm fine with learning all the shit I may not even use. After all, Elem-High school is really just exploring your strengths and weaknesses and trying to build you up from those part of that is exposing you to different subjects where you might also display proficiency. Recognizing you have proficiency in those subject would also open up other doors for careers you could pursue. Even then the curriculum moves so slow that you won't even graduate with all the knowledge you're supposed to have at college level...if you even choose to go to college. (Note: I too hate learning about the Holocaust 7-9 times between elem-high school)
-Agreed schools should teach life knowledge like how to do taxes and cooking basic meals. Although that could also be learned from your family, if you want to learn those things. I wanted to take accounting in highschool but instead got creative writing but shit at least it wasn't JOURNALISM.
-TH-cam is very helpful, use that shit, it'll teach you how to do math problems if you don't wanna ask about it in class.
-That is a dog shit example of doing land nav but I get what you're getting at. I'd say yes it's a double edged sword but I'd also put it on a case by case basis. Some teachers will give you a checklist of shit to study for your exams so you know what you should take note of and study. Then again tests nowadays is dumbed down to multiple choice so it is easier. (Note: I hate showing my work for math. I know the shit give me the points don't strip me of half of my points just cause I got it right but didn't show I can comprehend the function. Some people do the shit wrong and get the right answer anyway.)
-Absolutely, your teacher will tell you to memorize something or note something. They do know that you're gonna dump that knowledge once its served its purpose. A flaw with both the teacher and the system.
    TLDR:
-School transportation sucks ass because the school only gives the drivers outdated information.
-Homework does suck for those who can comprehend the subject because their hw won't be tailored to their proficiency level. It does good for those who don't understand it because it exposes their lack of understanding.
-MFs need to: start asking for help, watch a youtube video or do something so they can learn to understand a topic they struggle with or simple (how I would prefer it) be forced into after school help sessions until their grade improves (to like a B minimum)
-School exposes you to a variety of topics so you can discover your strengths and weaknesses among the subjects and so they can develop those strengths and weaknesses despite that you will graduate without knowledge that should be known prior to college. Tailored education for different career paths would be nice but people wouldn't be encouraged to explore other subjects outside of what their path focuses on.
-Life knowledge (paying taxes, cooking, basic rights) should be taught in schools but that responsibility also falls upon yourself and your parents.
-TH-cam is one of the best teachers of all.
    -Standardized testing is dog shit.
-System is flawed and allows students to use and dump knowledge.

I think the point about useful stuff is so important. I swear, I just KNOW that I won’t need, like, 90% of what we learn in school. I went to school in Denmark for two year and there we had at least nutrition as a subject. We would cook and learn about healthy nutrition.
I think schools would benefit from more practical subjects. I feel like most subjects in high school are so far removed from reality that they will likely have no relevance in our future. It would be way better if we learned stuff like house-keeping, taxes, crafting and fixing things and health, physically and mentally, maybe even etiquette and social skills, you know, things that we would benefit from in the future.

And the shit thing is, she is an insanely intelligent woman, a genius in math, but her issue is that she can't lower herself down to our level. She always assumes that if we know the basics, we know everything else because that what it was like for her.

As someone who was both once in school, and worked in one there is a lot if pointless and useless tasks teachers will have kids do oftentimes for no reason at all. Teachers will try to pressure students about them too with grades and what not. If you are a kid stressing over that stuff Ill tell you right now don't. Half the time they forget to grade it anyways and are just using it to desperately get a moments peace from the rrst of your classmates who are probably pooping on the floor, and painting on the walls with it for a TikTok.

... but I've met many homeschoolers (old friends of mine) who are doing so well in life with their jobs, careers, owning their first home by their early 20s (bastards, lol), married with kids by now, and doing well in social groups or in sports. All of them have their own unique set of skills and personalities. We all socialized through groups and sports, that's how we made friends, and surprisingly... school kids actually loved hanging out with us, well, maybe because we were all nerds, lol. I was the only one that was the socially awkward one, but that is because of my personality and disorder. All my friends were reallt good at being social, and often would drag me out of my comfortzone. Personally, if you got what it takes to homeschool your kids, do it!

    1/3 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
    1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    2 tablespoons cream cheese
    Dried chives
    4 slices of preferred bread
    Butter
    1 Pan
    1 Stove
    Directions:
Mix cheeses, cream cheese and chives in a small bowl and set aside.Butter all four slices of bread on each side. Lightly toast each side of the bread. While still on the pan, put the cheese on two of the four slices of bread, place other two slices on the other two and continue toasting until both side of each sandwich are a golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Cut the sandwiches in half for easy eating.
Eat with soup or by themselves. 🥪

One thing that should be against the rules is teachers complaining about how much they make. Constant complaining. I don't care, if they don't think they make enough they should find another job. When your teachers feel trapped the students feel trapped. Come to find out they get paid more than me working at Amazon, which I thought paid well until I learned they are paid twice or more.

School should at the bare minimum should allow you to choose classes that interest you so you can try them and see if you like that kind of work, not just throwing random things we won't use in our life unless we choose a job related to it.

Real I 10000000% fucking agree and despise school but I feel like it’s needed in our society. It just needs to be changed no one fucking cares about the bs we’re learning now. I mean back then before the internet I guess school was necessary but now with all of these resources online the system is in need for a change.

I remember being in 6th grade, I heard that 98% of what we learn in school is never used in real life most of the time, I didn’t believe it at first but then I got into algebra, wtf is literally any of this useful for???? Like you want me to pay my taxes by finding x??? Want me to tell you how this is a triangle?? I wish most of the classes were optional based on your preferences for your job, like I’m never using any complex science, I’m more than likely never leaving my state so no reason for me to learn about other states when I’m not interested. Maybe give a short class on certain subject for like a week, like space and stuff give students a class of that for a week, if you see some students find interest in it they should do the full class, but I don’t care about any of the stuff I’m learning about. I find I lose motivation as I know by the end of the day I’m gonna forget whatever I’m learning and it’ll never be useful for me. Honestly such a garbage school system.

In Australia, all our classes were set for us up until year 9, when we chose our own subjects. In year 10 maths, we learnt about taxes at least. My school has career counsellors to help us discover what we want to do in the future.

homework for me was so useless that if i didnt do it I would still get A's on the tests bc they would teach audibly anyway so there was no point to the homework to begin with. School is basically the useless tutorial in a video game that tells you what you CAN do, but not what is required to survive.

Pegasus, what country did you go to school in? Because I think your gripes are with the system in your country specifically. There are other schook systems that do this better. I was lucky to do 7 years of school in one country and the rest in another and let me tell you, the first country taught me how to apply concepts. We did oral examinations, you couldn't just memorize facts and it was good because it taught you how to converse intelligently on a topic, debate and even bargain. All useful life skills. We also had a great variety of subjects.
The srcond country was just multiple choice memorization bullsh** and with that, i agree. That was a waste of 5 years for me...
