    Just picked one up, cant wait! Our downtown district just put these all over downtown, and after spending 30 bucks to rent one for an hour, its a no brainer to buy one. Great video

      Yes. Renting is nice for a one off trip or getting from one part of the city to another quickly and efficiently, but for commuting on electric devices often it makes more sense to own a scooter (or another electric device). Especially as the Gotrax GXL is under or at $300

E x E ya I never really got it perfect but I juts pull that thing as hard as I can to get the break line to fit and my screws wouldn’t even go all the way in because of the pressure but it is what it is I put over 300 miles on my scooter in the first month and it was awesome I found this really steep hill and I could easily do 25mph on it and I weigh 170 but once you hit over 25 the scooter makes weird noises and it’s scary 😂😂

    Good video. I own one of these and have no complaints. One thing to note, lots of people had to put tire slime into the V1 so they wouldn’t deflate. These come with the slime in the tires from the factory 👍🏽

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn’t realize that Gotrax started adding tire slime into their tires. That is a good touch to an already great scooter. I have yet to add tire slime to my original GXL as well as my GXL V2.

    Hi there! Thank you for posting this video. I received my Gotrax GXL V2 today and unboxed it while watching your video. I am glad that I was able to help and I hope that the GXL works out well for your needs. Be aware of the automatic cruise control when riding. The scooter should run on a partial or full charge. You can disconnect and reconnect the handle which would disconnect it from the battery in the neck of the scooter where the battery sits. If you still have issues contact Gotrax right away with as much clear detail as you can (and keep copies of your email for proof you contacted them when you did)

    Correction, the electric regenerative brake is still there. I own this model. If you press the brake slightly, it will engage, squeeze a little harder and the disc brake will begin engaging.

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I often to neglect to think about regenerative brakes as my local ride is 99.99% flat. You are correct. I was able to confirm with Gotrax that the handbrake on the GXL v2 (in this video) does allow for battery regeneration (regenerative braking) as does the first gen GXL with electromagnetic brake (along with with rear disc brake). It's near impossible for an average user to give numbers for effectiveness on this, but it's, at least a positive, something rather than nothing.

I've had a couple of others report that they are not able to change speed modes on their GXL scooters received over the past 2-3 months (estimate on time). Even when I try my hardest to jam the charger into the port, it doesn't seem to go in all the way. The charging block stays green even though the battery indicator says 50%. Anyone else having this issue? Maybe I got a faulty charger. May have to return it... Sad because the scooter itself was fun to ride.

  • @d_kocken2493
    @d_kocken2493 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When attempting to attach the handlebar console to the main scooter base, the console won’t go all the way in for me, so the holes for the screws won’t line up and I can’t attach the two pieces with the hook. I don’t want to jam it in and risk braking it, but is it necessary to give it a good hit or something to knock it into place? If not, I’m assuming it was just poorly made and I’ll have to try to send in a claim and get an exchange for a different one... that would be a pain.

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I too had questioned the initial handle seating. I would advise removing the handle and slowly seating it to make sure the pins inside the tiller and handle line up. To seat the handle it may require a bit of a tap from the palm of the hand.

    • @d_kocken2493
      @d_kocken2493 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Power On Fun yeah I was assuming that the problem was that the pins weren’t lining up, but I can’t imagine for what reason. The console and tiller lined up, the holes for the pins on the exterior lined up, so you would think that the pins on the inside would also line up. I suppose I’ll try it again later tonight and maybe give it more of a pat down and see if they will lock in. Otherwise it’ll have to go back.

    • @d_kocken2493
      @d_kocken2493 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Power On Fun update to my problem in case anyone else has the same issue and is wondering: I contacted gotrax customer support and they got back to me suggesting that I remove the battery pack entirely from the scooter so that I can attach that to the console (handlebars) first, then slide that whole piece into the main frame all together... and it worked! (After some time and struggles... if you have to do this as well, the battery can be hard to get out. I suggest turning the entire scooter upside down and tapping on the main frame until the battery begins to slip out).

      I would look for an electric scooter later this month (for "Black Friday deals). I know that Gotrax is having a sale/discount on several scooter and a few other of their electric device models (GXL and GXL v2 included at $269.99). I also know that Gotrax has two other new models coming out, but I assume they won't be released until after November (in time for the core holiday time crowd). I've looked at a model available on amazon, the Macwheel MX1, but I've personally not had one to test or compare against. • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Installing the tiller with the brake line can be a pain. I think the easiest method is the one I used last by installing the brake line into the brake on the handle and then attaching the handle to the tiller neck. If not matter how you try to install it the brake line is too short you may be able to loosen the rear brake where the cable connects and "borrow" 1/2in of it for added slack

    • @sorakai28
      @sorakai28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry. The tiller is basically the scooter neck that connects the front hub motor/wheel and houses the battery pack. If you have the brake wire going straight up the same side where it is attached behind the wheel (not going around the tiller neck) and there still isn't enough slack then easiest fix would be to loosen the rear brake line, pull some of the wire brake forwards, tighten the rear brake, and try to assemble again.

      I personally believe that both the GXL, and new GXL v2, are built beyond their low price point when compared to other well though of models such as the Xiaomi M365 and Ninebot Segway ES 2. I’ve not had any issues so far with either scooter, but I’ve not had a chance to ride the new GXL much yet due to weather. I can say however that we put the original GXL through a lot in 2018 and other than getting dirty and rubber wheels starting to wear down naturally there is no visible wear and tear. Both versions are constructed with the same frame and core parts other than a couple of improvements.

      Just a couple of things. It sounds like the scooter powers on and off so I'm guessing the button is not stuck down. One thing you could try is to remove the scooter handle and control, remove the battery pack,band reseat both and try charging. Could possibly be a faulty AC adapter or cord, but other than using another scooter ac adapter there is not much you could do for that.

    In all honesty, me weighing 240lbs won't break the scooter right? Lol

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it won't break it. The battery is in the neck so there is just structural support in the base (that and the brake cable goes through it)

      I think the easiest way is to keep the handle/tiller detached from the scooter neck, attach the brake line to the handle/tiller, and slowly place the handle/tiller over and onto the scooter neck. Then you can gently tap it down onto the neck and battery inside once you think it's lined up (you can check using the two screw holes that secure it onto the neck)

    After watching this video fully I recommend that any 1st time buyers of a Gotrack scooter use a different video. This video is a lot of filler and goes to fast in spots you need slowed down. It talks as if you've already had a go tracks in the past and should know the differences and does not even properly show you all of the steps to complete putting the scooter together. I had to completely take mine apart again and put it back together because of this video. I would use another video that uses the pro tip in the comment below mine about the handbrake, screwing the red hook part back in afterward not first, and also shows you how to put in the stabilizing pin for the folding part of the scooter, not like this video that just says its irrelevant. ITS NOT.

      I'm sorry you had issues with following and the speed of this video. It's almost 7 minutes and I try to go fast and clear as possible to not waste other people's valuable time with unusable filler and include specs and things that "seem" valuable to those looking for this kind of scooter. I also have many other videos and many other detailed comments on scooter assembly and other items.

    • @PowerOnFun
      @PowerOnFun  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would suggest to pull out the brake line on/in the brake handle, make sure the brake line is going up the same side of the tiller neck as where the line comes out of the scooter foot base, and THEN attach the scooter T-handle bar. I've done it in a different order and also gotten frustrated.
