I've got this scooter and I've went up plenty of hills steeper than displayed in your video and I noticed that mine is updated or something, because I have a large GOTRAX logo on the front left/right side of the scooter on a white wrap around of the front of the scooter and there's only one speed that takes me up to 15.5 on a flat pavement and I made it up to around 13/14 up a pretty steep hill by my house. They've definitely updated it since this video.
I purchased one for 60 bucks near me and it needed a battery. Replaced that and it works good. Definitely worth it for what I payed for it. However if I had the extra money. I would invest in the GMAX ultra or something that’s a bit faster and has better range.
For the braking you need to lean back over the rear wheel to give it some traction and engage the disc brake. The regenerative brake will only slow you down so much.
That's true. But my different model with out leaning or using the rear friction break at all will stop almost instantly. I've never thought about the rear break, now I have I'm scared. Lol
Hello there, thanks so much for this review. Looks like this video review was made 1 years ago. I would love to hear about how it has held up, or if it stopped working etc. What's your opinion after 1 year? I'm really curious. I'm thinking about maybe buying the V2. Thank you for your time. 🙂🙏🌸
For this scooter in particular, the handbreak isn’t that powerful because part of its job is recharging the battery with momentum. The regular scooter break on the back wheel will stop you quickly.
Received a "certified reburbished" Gotrax GXL V2 recently with an old battery that won't charge and Wes from Gotrax would not send a replacement battery. Wes told me to buy a new battery but they don't even have any in stock. Basically they are off loading dead scooters as certified refurbished. It seems strange that people say Gotrax has good customer service. BBB shows an alert for Gotrax with over 200 complaints. We just ordered a new TurboAnt X7 Pro.
Go ahead and buy one new, they don’t cost that much. I’ve gotten my moneys worth out of mine already as a back and forth when I have to get my car serviced, my auto repair shop is about 1 mile away from my house and it turns into a pleasant 7 min trip.
Hi there, my budget is about $300 and I want to get the best scooter I can get Is this the best option or is there better in my $300 range? I am looking for speed, and I want it to feel safe and nice. Also I want it to at least go through grass Any other options?
@@ElectricRevolutionaccording to the manual, 1 and 2 are the speed modes. 1 = mph, 2 = km/h. It doesn’t change your possible speed in any way, it just displays your speed as miles per hour or kilometers per hour. That’s why mode 2 was showing a slightly larger number: 1 km/h = 0.62 mph

Yeah, seriously, it is so painful watching this review, if not even this basic fact is understood. And the other commenters not able to see that this is the V2 and therefore suggesting the foot brake, and then the author even thanking for the nonsense suggestion. OMG, what's going on.
Thumbs down. Wouldn't buy it. Going up a minor hill it sounds like it is about to smoke the motor. On easy flat new pavement it works well annnnnd so does every other scooter on the planet. It's got barely enough juice to get out of it's own way. Was that the one everyone was throwing into the ocean in California?
Gotrax has a problem. After the 12 months warranty, they lack of parts to replace for customers. They take a week to respond yoto your problems and they say that they don't have the part and they cannot recommend anywhere, and you are out of luck. You can see their parts sections and they don't have any parts to replace. They don't have anymore and they won't fill it. You broke something? Good luck. Now I have a broken scooter missing the lower part that holds the brake line and is made of plastic which breaks and they don't have it. I never seen a company with such low expectations and lack of responsibility for their customers
This company has terrible customer service. Their phone line is a third party company, their "chat" is always offline, and they never return their emails. So if you research , there's dozens of people very unhappy with their purchases because it was defective. Their warranty is non-existent, so buy at your own risk.
BUYER BEWARE! Golabs (gotrax is same company) does not honor their warranty. They do not have a phone number, they do not answer service links from their website. They do not answer claims filled out on their website. They removed all negative comments from the golabs website on 3/22. If you don't believe me try to get in touch with golabs, Try to find a email address or phone number on their website. On March 27 Gotrax supplied a service email for Golabs only after i showed proof of purchase. Please share this post as consumers need to be aware of issues with these 2 companies. Yea, I kept wondering why mine didn’t do the gear change, & now I know, because I have the same, just 1 gear and maxes out.
Have you ridden yours and rain or dirt trails and how is it holding up?

You can adjust the breaks, just a thought..
Great video, music was not that loud in the back!
Hmm, I smell Xmas :D
Thank you this was very helpful
Your speed will vary depending on the surface plus if there are any inclines in the roadway. You were on a downhill is why you reached 17
Nah it was flat, I do all my speed tests on flat terrain
very thorough review!
Thanks
Is that the gxl V1?
On the dirt hill it looked like you had only one bar of charge. If so that is an awesome speed, it slows down dramatically when the battery is low.
Yeah battery was just about dead at that point
I don't understand how to test the speed without riding with it which i kept pushing the trottle but nothing happen.

How's the stability of the stem and handles when riding?
It's not totally solid, there's a little give n take but nothing I was to concerned about

Speedometers on electric scooters are notoriously 10-20% higher than reality. So I would say top speed is likely 14-15mph

No you can’t. Depends how tall you are

Can you replace the headlight with a brighter one?
I doubt it
