    We partnered with NVIDIA GeFoce to help you push your gaming performance, resolution, and graphics quality as high as it’ll go. Andy Cortez is here to show you how NVIDIA DLSS is not just some obscure gaming acronym - it’s a useful PC gaming technology that NVIDIA GeForce RTX gamers can take advantage of in over 140 games!
    This video is sponsored by NVIDIA GeForce. Learn more about NVIDIA DLSS here: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/...
    For years, PC gamers had to find a compromise between their frames per second, their image resolution, and the quality of their gaming graphics. With the AI-powered technology of NVIDIA DLSS, enabled by NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs, a growing list of games is allowing you to enjoy the ultimate gaming experience.

    I know it gets shit on quite a bit by a bunch of people, and I don't blame them, BUT....CP2077 would have been a great example for this video. Since release, the performance has come quite far. 10700k, 3080, DDR4 4000CL14 @ 4k high settings with RTX on and with DLSS enabled = a mind blowing visual experience. When the game first launched I had a 1080 Ti and a ultrawide monitor and yeah, it ran like crap. But now...the visual quality has sucked me back into Night City and it's like a new game again.

    Simple put as I understood. Both Quality and Performance modes aim to improve FPS by lowering resolution then upscaling it back to certain level (lets call this upscalling a "fake resolution"). Compared to performance mode, the quality mode maintains higher true resolution with lower generated fake resoution, resulting in higher image quality but lower FPS improvement.

    My problem is that 1000% I can still tell the difference. As impressive as DLSS is, I can still notice that it's a lower-resolution image being upscaled. For me, those ray-traced effects and additions aren't enough to lose resolution quality, so I almost always just leave ray-tracing off and ensure that render resolution is 1440p. But that's just me and that's what makes all of this great. Everyone can pick and choose what preferences they have, DLSS is a way to try to have your cake and eat it too. If you're okay with losing that bit of resolution quality, it's super helpful for framerate and effects quality, for me, it's still too noticeable that it's not worth the additional bells and whistles.
    However, I haven't tested a game with DLSS 2.3 yet, so perhaps I may make an attempt to see if it's improved for my tastes. Anyways, great video Andy! Super helpful for alot of people!

    • @KindaFunnyGames
      @KindaFunnyGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's all personal preference. DLSS when cyberpunk launched was noisier than it is now and with the improvements we've been seeing, i've been defaulting to it more and more lately.

      @@KindaFunnyGames Awesome, it's definitely going to just keep getting better and better!

    • @Broformist
      @Broformist ปีที่แล้ว

      Best use I found for DLSS personally, as a 1080p screen user, is to combine its Quality mode with x2.25 DLDSR. That way DLSS rendering resolution is the same as my screen but I am getting antialiasing that is very noticeably superior to TAA. This might not be that useful for games that offer DLAA as an option but most of them don't. Also I think DLSS needs and Ultra Quality mode that combined with 1440p res makes rendering resolution now less than 1080p. I think it kinda sucks that 1440p users are forced to go below 1080p whenever they use any DLSS mode that isn't DLAA. Some games reportedly will even load in lower quality assets, like mip maps, if rendering res drops below 1080p.

    Having a 30 series or 40 series card and DLSS is a game changer and totally stretches the life of a gpu. Some people hate on it but what is there to honestly hate your getting FREE FPS which if DLSS didnt exist you would have to buy a new gpu to get those frames.
    Thus i had a GTX 1080 and upgraded to a RTX 4070 Ti for DLSS 3.0 / Nvidia Reflex and Frame Generation and all the bells and whistles that the GTX 1080 couldn't of dreamed of.

    So, some lingering question I have as someone who is a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff:
    Where does DLSS come from? Is it something you have to download from Nvidia? Does it come with their GPUs standard now? Or is it just an option in the game itself?
    If its already on your system, why would you need to turn it on/off? Shouldnt it always be on by default? Or is the option in the game just in case you have a PC that doesnt have it?

    This video makes no sense.
    It doesn’t explain what DLSS stands for. It doesn’t explain what DLSS does. Or how it works. (The entire deep learning machine part - kinda the whole thing). The triangle (TM) shows resolution vs frames vs quality. Quality IS resolution. So this example doesn’t make sense.
    I like Andy’s enthusiasm and the idea of showing off PC tech to console gamers but it is missing quite a bit of the PC tech part.

    • @KindaFunnyGames
      @KindaFunnyGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      i explain that it uses AI (deep learning) to reconstruct a low rez image to make it high rez (super-sampling).
      Sorry but Quality ≠ Resolution. You can run a game on Low settings (textures, shadows, etc) in 4k resolution - OR - you can run a game on Ultra settings with ray-tracing at 720p. Those are two very different experiences.
