When freaking Asmongold himself has come out and said Yasuke is not the biggest problem with the game, people need to actually start criticizing the the real problems. And believe me, there are gonna plenty of problems with this game.
@@Demigah The issue isn't that he is black, the issue is that he was a real person and these hair dye people want change real history in the name of virtue signaling, Yasuke was a retainer meaning an entertainer and or servant NOT SAMURAI, he never was, also wikipedia changed their info on this after the trailer released, It's not about the historical accuracy of the franchise because it always used fictional protagonists, however, for this one they deliberately used a real historical figure and decided to completely change the real history, and I know previous games also used real people but they were side characters and did not change their real history and what was changed was made with the intentions of being a secret so real history is not compromised, but for Yasuke they changed the whole character and personal history of his
It could have happened. Leonardo had the smarts to create such a device. But, yeah, it's a work of fiction. So I hope Yasuke fans who think he wasn't actually gay take solace in that fact.
@@Demigah As if 1500s Japan were friendly to foreigners like in the gameplay trailer. THEY WERE NOT! if anything, yasuke would prolly be spat at for being a foreigner. He may be a samurai, and spoke little japanese but to Nobunaga, he's just foreign talent who just so happen to be his bitch for his amusement. Dude had a strong tolerance tbh.
It’s crazy how the grifters apparently care about “historical accuracy” in an assassins creed game but have no problem with AC2 having a whole tank section and the pope being a wizard 💀
because every location in previous ac games had characters that belonged in the place that game took place in, italian in italy, native american in america, englishman in england, etc. And while the black samurai did exist (he wasn't a samurai like in the game though) he shouldve just been some side character since the game takes place in JAPAN and they should have a Japenese person as the mc
Let's be honest they put Yasuke as the protagonist to use the poor guy as a meat shield against any critic people may throw at the game. Poor guy can't catch a break first sold twice into slavery and then centuries later used as a sacrificial lamb for a soulless, talentless corporation
Well word is that they're making him LGBTQ+. So everybody that was calling people racist for expressing discontent, I hope they like being called homophobes if they speak up now.
@@Vigriff the funny thing is that I do wonder if they're going to have the balls of making him do the war crimes and other atrocities Nobunaga did in the war. (I know the other warlords did that too but Oda Nobunaga didn't become the Demon King of the sixth heaven for nothing)
As a Black person, I appreciate the representation of Yasuke as the main character in the game. However, I can't help but recognize the strategic move by Ubisoft to incorporate their awareness into the game by featuring a historical figure. While I understand there's also a Japanese woman protagonist, leaked concept art initially suggested a Japanese man as the main character. The decision to pivot to Yasuke speaks volumes about their commitment to diversity and inclusion within the Assassin's Creed universe.
As a black person I don't know why your trying to validate the opinion of racist. Concept art is just that a "concept" of what the design or character may look like. If they decided to change it for diversity and inclusion reasons than so be it
@@manmanopoly8047Accepting tokenism is a whole lot worse, my guy. We could have quality but we settle for mediocre because you think meeting the bare minimum is praise worthy.
Yes that’s why it’s kinda funny this dudes misinterpreted everything people have said. On top of that, it was Ubisoft who tried insisting Yasuke was a samurai by quoting Thomas lockley as a source.
@@SlimJim-ws4pj I wonder what people think now since Thomas lockley was proven to be a fraud and only found a little information about yasuke which none said anything about him being a samurai and how he changed the wiki page under fake names lmao
Being a black man myself I can understand the hate. First AC set in Japan and no Japanese samurai. Just some Japanese woman and a foreigner? Not to mention the only reason Ubisoft did this was to deflect the criticism this game will deservingly get as "racism".
2 things guaranteed in life when it comes to Ubisoft 1. Putting anything Splinter Cell themed in literally any other game instead of making a new Splinter Cell game it’s been almost 11 years 2. And the ridiculous prices are they trying to everyone fucking homeless at the end of the summer
Since when are we playing real historical people in assassin's creed? I'd love to see Yasuke as an ally but not as the character I play. It's not about historical accuracy it's not about black people (I'm african from Burkina Faso). It feels like they are doing that just because they want to make people talk Let's be honest if they really wanted to do something with African culture they would do an assassin's creed in the kingdom of Dahomey era with the king Béhanzin and his amazones or in the Kingdom of Shaka Zoulou and much more. This is what I call inclusion not all these things they are doing nowadays
Yep, I don't want to play as a historical character cause then I know where my character will end up. Imagine playing William Wallace and knowing when and how your character will die. No thanks.
What i hate about isn't the fact that there's a black samurai. Because i know for a fact that there was indeed an african man who was sold as a slave to a japanese noble man who later adopted the rank of samurai. What i hate is how they try and justify their dumb, hyper i flated prices by pulling out the racist card.
@@Tayo2742 fr, that shit's worse than genshin impact. At least when they steal your info and take your money through micro transactions, you are allowed to play for free and have an ass or two to gawk at
Personally, it's not really the fact that it's Yasuke. It's the fact that one of the main playable characters is a historical figure in general. In the past, we played as original characters set during that time period, which also allowed us to view history from an unbiased perspective and give more freedom in terms of story. Honestly, what really pisses me off is that it seems Ubisoft is afraid of having players play as female protagonists. In AC, it's either dual protagonists with one male/one female. Or a set protagonist that is male. Granted, this is the same company whose ceo said: "women don't sell" Also, it's Ubisoft. It's going to be mid at best.
They make short AC games/DLC where we play as females, so I see what you mean. Haven't even played them, tbh, though, I did play as Kassandra in Odyssey
First off I wanna say that I'm not white, so don't pull the racism shit on me. The reason why I'm not happy with this choice is because this is our first AC game in feudal Japan, I think they should've stuck a Japanese mc ( yesI know that naoe is japanease but she's a ninja, I'm talking about the samurai) I have no problem with Yasuke being an important character in the story, and then giving him his own game in the future like with basim, but a proper sequel. I just think it's crazy that wanting to be Japanese, in a game where you play as a *samurai* in *Japan* ... is somehow considered racist
From the way all the people keep saying they want to be a Japanese man in this game, it seems more of a fetish than racism. However, downplaying Yasuke's significance in Japanese culture is a bit racist and condescending to both African and Japanese people. It comes off as a childish temper tantrum about not having that fetish pandered to by Ubisoft in this particular installment.
@@askariali6039 I agree, it's getting to a point where it's just kinda weird the way they want to play as a Japanese man so badly. Like Demigah said, there are other games where you play as a male Japanese samurai like Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin. Like why do these people want to play as a Japanese samurai AGAIN.
It is rumored that they were gonna make him Japanese but changed it later. I also saw what seemed to be original designs if what his suit would look like.
I wanna see a black samurai about as much as I wanna see a chinese viking. It's not because he's black, it's because it's clearly an ESG thing. Yeah, he was a real person, but more of a trophy than anything else, and certainly not a samurai. Edit: Our opinions may differ in this instance, but they've aligned more often than not. My gripe is being thrown into a box with others I don't agree with. If I were rascist, I wouldn't have subbed to your channel in the first place.

Spouting numerous historical misconceptions and straight up lies bruh. Stop tryna make this a race thing. Its not
6:32 As a black person, I DO dislike him because he has OUR skin color. I don't like being pandered to, especially when it's inorganic to the setting, and the "um ackchyually Yasuke was a real person" arguments are inherently disingenuous because I'm sure you could use overly specific history to pull just about anyone you want into the setting, but it still wouldn't make them any less out of place. There are dozens of far more recognized, and far more revered, figures they could've used as a lead, and if Yasuke was a certified badass that actually DID make a mark in history, I'd be on board. But we only got him because he's black, and that's supposed to somehow convince me to buy this game. Which I won't, but, still. Could've been someone way cooler like Miyamoto Musashi, Hattori Hanzō with a built-in clan of assassins, or Tomoe Gozen if you wanted to diversify the cast, but in a game with a population that's almost 100% Japanese, this just ain't it chief. He'd make a neat side character, though.

I just hate when they try n make everyone gay, even when it doesn't make sense because weirdo activist hijacked the medium.
Ima have to respectfully disagree. “Out of all the assassins, Yasuke is the only historically accurate figure we get to play as.” Exactly. Why all of a sudden change after 20 years? It’s clear as day Ubi going for that easy ESG money. Again, it’s Ubisoft, so it’ll be trash regardless. But I’m going to call it for what it is.
@@Lex_Luthor777 I mean, he has his right to an opinion. But especially now, UBI just announced Yasuke is now an lgbtq samurai too. That’s what happens when you keep moving the goalpost for these companies.
A problem I have with it is that why is this the one assassin creed game we play as an historical figure, when all the rest, we played as a ficitonal character that plays around these historical figures? It just seems odd when you look more into it and when you think more and more about it. Not only that, ubisoft tried to explain that to have these two characters playable allows for those characters to exceeds in area's they can't do. That right there doesn't make sense in my opinion. Because all the version of assassins can be everything: from steathly to a straight fighter doesn't matter the gender too, its so ficitonal that any assassins can go toe to toe with everyone by themselves. To have Yasuke as playable just only hinders the game itself, because people would want to play it for the assassin, not a samerai who happens to be black. If anything, ghost of tushima is a game where you play as a samerai that also has him become a shinboi. It just seems like ubisoft is again taking ideas from other games like witcher. That's where the real problem lies with Yasuke for me. Ubi doesn't give a good reason to play this character, and only feels like they're doing it because he's a black character and to win some browine points from it. Could he be an interesting character? Maybe, if they don't rush the story. And if i'm being honest, this only shows more that this game storywise will get screw again. The game is gonna have a hard time balancing these two character; what with explaining lore, their character, motivation, and who they'll be facing together. And if its anything to go by their track record, assassin creed games story wise hasn't been good in sometime.
@@redninja3056then tell me this Why couldn't they make a fictional black character, a slave like Yasuke, who gets inducted into the creed where he finds some sense of purpose to do what's right with the other main character? As a Japanese, and reading Japanese comments, I can say that a lot of them don't have a problem with a black character. If they officially claimed it was fiction, not a lot of people would have been pissed. If it was a story with a good looking black samurai with great game play, we'd be digging it. The problem is that they are claiming it to be accurate, plus the Japanese see tons of DEI in the game. Also, UBI claims accuracy, but the trailer is full of mistakes. If a non-citizen tries to redefine its history or culture, anybody will have a problem. It's called cultural appropriation in the western world.

I get what you’re saying, but I feel that people wanting to play a Japanese protagonist on a Japan AC shouldn’t be treated as a controversial opinion. And tbh, everyone knows exactly why they picked Yasuke, the main reason he’s even know at all, he’s a black man in Japan. This is more baffling when previous protagonists were largely from the region the game setting took in, and this is an obvious outlier. Also apparently some of the devs have ties to SBI and that’s just a mayor red flag for the overall quality of the game’s writing. And yeah like you said, the monetization and pay to win isn’t doing any favors for the game. I personally think Yasuke would fit better for a side character you can do some quests with, but an assassin? Kinda questionable when he’s well, a VERY tall black man amongst Japanese, he sticks out like a sore thumb and would be easily recognizable. I also heard from comments about how the structures of buildings resemble Chinese architecture rather than Japanese so that’s a big L.
The thing is, though, I don't see anyone bringing up the Japanese woman in their debates. She exists, you can play as her instead, but people complain about Yasuke instead
@@Demigah I’ve seen some complains about her looks, but that’s about it. But I mean it’s not surprising, it’s Japan, one character IS Japanese, the other is Black, even if he did existed, i think it’s obvious who looks out of place for most people.
@@Demigah well I mean we have played as women before nothing new their in fact most ppl we would be playing as the Chinese assassin from embers who is also a woman.
People are so fixated on Yasuke, that you ignored half of the game being, Naoe. A Kunoichi a freaking female shinobi, Perfect for the stealth sections of the game. Not to mention her being a woman makes her unsuspecting and underestimated. Shinobi has meanings/connotations of stealing or hiding away hence it connection stealth.
Historical accuracy is not the issue; it's how this game will work narratively. The whole AC story is about playing through the genetic memory of specific ancestors. The entire premise of the games is experiencing the genetic memories of a person of the past via the Animus. I have no issue with Yasuke being fictionalized, but just hoping they "make a good story" is not enough. Having Yasuke as a character retcons how Assassin's Creed has always told its stories. I've played nearly every Assassin's Creed game.
@@shinobimsh5687 True. There have been many retcons but usually well-grounded ones, nothing arbitrary. For instance, Oda Nobunaga was about to ally with the Assassins before he was assassinated. But the trailer outright told us that Yasuke will help Naoe liberate Japan from the "oppressive unification". There is no Templar iconography so Yasuke is going against Oda? Either Yasuke assassinates a corrupted Oda and is forced to leave Japan, or Yasuke doesn't leave Japan and fights against Toyotomi Hideyoshi who persecuted Christians during his reign. That said, I guess I am wrong when saying the animus needs specific genes. As long as the company Abstergo has DNA they can sequence its memories. But the same issue remains; How are we getting the DNA of both Yasuke and Naoe to sequence their memories? Only one answer, Yasuke, and Naoe have a kid, which is possibly what Ubisoft meant when they noted that players can explore multiple romance options. Or it could just be rainbow stuff. Either way, Ubisoft is trying to give us a fish out the water story but it's coming off as another savior trope.
@@redninja3056 Yasuke's savior storyline makes the same justifications that the British Empire made for Colonizing Africa. This explains why Ubisoft changed their AC Japanese intro from "liberating Japan from oppressors" to "fighting those plotting behind it".
@@MenmaUzumaki-CW And to be honest, I don’t remember that I came across anything convincing as indisputable evidence of this statement. that Yasuke was awarded samurai status. Therefore, I cannot say that he was or was not awarded this honor. As a black man, I'm pissed because I know they pulled him out so they could get some people to buy this game who were never going to buy it in the first place because they know that some black people are thirsty for black representation even if it means getting ripped off.
The reason I find this decision baffling is because out of hundreds of historical Japanese figures for their first Game set in Asia, they chose the one black guy lol.

Damn! Man!!! I love you bro!!! I was wondering what could actually be wrong with the character anyways, since it started getting everywhere. Long before the mention/release of this game, I've read about the Black Samurai, Yasuke, because I was very interested in Samurais and Ninjas as a kid. Lol, funny to say, I even wanted to be one
looking at both sides of the argument, imma say this. I get that ubisoft is corrupt as hell, i get that there are folks hating on yasuke based on skin color. Here's the thing. And this is as far as i know about this yasuke dude. He aint even a samurai. he's a retainer. And that is from actual history. Sure, you can say that it doesn't matter cuz of how historically inaccurate assassins creed is throughout the franchise. Same time, considering the existence of Sweet Baby Inc. and other shit related to them affecting video games for the past decade along with ESG and DEI horseshit, i can understand people's eyebrow raising. It aint about if the character is black or a woman, or anything like that. it's the reason behind it that matters. If its a creative decision with no strings attached thrn that's all well and good. But if its done because of the Sweet baby inc/ESG/DEI BS, and the "diverse" character turns out to be poorly written and nothing more than a political mouthpiece then its gonna be a problem.
When I saw price for the game, I was pissed. When I saw yasuke was in the game, I was excited. Because other than samurai warriors 5, I think this is the second samurai game he was featured in.
My family is 100% from Costa Rica. I was born there. I was raised in America. Every time i hear someone say "But you don't look Costa Rican." I feel like holding back my comments of their damn ignorance of human variety.
Basically Yasuke had no historical writings that he was a Samurai in feudal Japan, he's history dates to him being a page for Oda Nabunaga for 15 years, and Samurai training began at the age of 7, so nothing was said about him being a Samurai!!!!!!!!!
What is really happening with assassin's creed? Ubisoft just continues to keep taking Ls with each stupid decision here. Now regarding the yasuke decision, yes he did definitely exist, he did definitely make weapons for the clan but however it's stated that there wasn't any known info of yasuke being a samurai. So in my take i. Agree with both those who say yasuke was not a samurai. And those who think he was ( considering its a fictional game) But still, if we are set in fuedal Japan here, wouldn't it be cool if we could both have male and female Japanese assassin options here. If ubisoft wanted to make a black assassin, then im. Definitely down for it. In fact they should have definitely made an assassin's creed in Africa ( yes they did Egypt before but still) it would be Aweosme to see some ancient African assassin history here. Sad ubisoft would not make it cause they probably might be the same people that think killing zombies in resident evil 5 was racist ( even though the games setting was in Africa?? 🤦♂️) And don't even get me started on that price. 100? Ayo ubisoft?? 👀 Great video homie. Really been enjoying them here mate ❤ 🐀
No Demi. The reason why people are mad is because Ubisoft refuse to make Assassin's Creed what used to be. You know about the conflict between the Assassins and Templars. This is why Origins remains the only one of the RPG games that is Loved by the old fans. It has nothing to do whit racism man. If that was the issue, then Adewale and Bayke would be hated by all.
Personally, I think we need to look at the story and gameplay before we decide that it's bad. Also, for all I know, templars might still be here. I still don't trust ubisoft because AC games haven't been all that for a while now, but let's see tho
The main character does not matter, any other character does not matter. The game itself does not matter. We all know it's going to be trash And people will defend it using race. That's what annoys me
Bruh i don't fuck with Ubisoft for this choice because, and be for real with me Demi, for brownie points with DEI, no sugar. Like deadass they couldn't give a fuck about Yasuke even if they wanted to. I don't fuck with this game because they used bro as a tool saying "Hey look, we got a BLACK MAN in AC, don't you wanna play it?!" Like that's its whole ass personality. I hate forced pandering shit like this, fuck Ubisoft and all the others who do this.
I remember back when this game was called Red, it was first rumored that there would be a black samurai (it being Yasuke was not confirmed yet). My immediate thought was that Ubisoft was only doing this to distract people from the fact that there's still rampant abuse of the employees at the company. Judging from overall reactions, its working.
Here's why I don't like Yasuke as the playable character. Throughout AC we've played as characters that hid within the shadows of history that MET historical figures in their journeys. If you were another character that met Yasuke, then I'd have zero issues. You can still argue about what might have happened that history didn't record, lord knows AC has done a lot of that, but it would've worked better for me. Simple as that.
The problem for me is that Yasuke is a real person. That's why him being playable is such an issue in my perspective. But then if he wasn't real, then we got a completely new problem.
@@yunusgokcen174 Even in the absence of Yasuke, playing as a Samurai also seems ridiculous to me. I already hate dual protagonists, give me one character but that's a personal thing. But why don't we just have a male and female Ninja? Assassin's aren't warriors. Man, maybe I'm just a little old fashioned about the franchise.
2:18 Yasuke was not real, it was fabricated by Thomas Lockley who was deported from Japan recently, and had his university degree from the University of Japan revoked. That didn't age well.
Yeah he was, and funny enough he wasn’t the only one. The fact that you cited an American as a source to prove the existence of an African an Asia is very interesting lol. If u want to speak about historical accuracy u might want to actually look up the Samurai reign. Japan is an ally of the west so we receive a lot of their media, often times embellished so when you are playing Ghost of Tsushima or other samurai games, i hope you remember you obsession with this history. I’ll save you time and say the Samurai reign wasn’t very long and was often ineffective. If it wasn’t for some strong winds in the Pacific and some internal strife following the Mongol East expansion, Japan would’ve fell to the Mongols in days. The reign of Japan’s ninjas and their military prowess later on in the 1800s and early 1900s is actually more impressive, but they 1: dont make for as cool DLC skins lol and 2: the enemy was often the West so i guess they don’t want to encourage that nationalism again. Stay woke
Demigah, being that you're not from America, so there's an aspect I'm guessing you never dealt with. See it's not just white people who are mad that Yasuke is the main character, but black folks like me are pissed too. Why? Because from the 1950s-1970s at least there were half-hearted efforts to seem inclusive by throwing in a token black character. By the 90s and early 2000s that seemed to have been obliterated as black folks were more visible across t.v., films, video games, and animation than in prior decades. Now it seems Hollywood and the gaming industry wants to walk that back and treat us like token novelties. And to treat Yasuke, a guy who served in Nobunaga's army as a token novelty in the Assassin's Creed series? Pardon my xenophobia, but:" Those French Frogs must be outside their dang minds!" Yasuke deserves better in my opinion than to be shoe-horned into this title for brownie points.
The ONLY THING I'll take away from this, is the fact that Yasuke is the only historical person in an Assassin's Creed game. . . OUT OF EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER THAT'S *NOT REAL!*
Eh Ion rly care abt historical accuracy or got anything against black ppl. I just think id rather have Japanese protagonists in Japan. I mean would u say the same if we playin as an Asian in an African setting? Lowkey just tired of the yappers accusing ppl of racism without hearing their opinions out on the game. I mean I get ya argument toward the actual prejudice mfs out there but my point still stands.
All I'm going to say is: the people who shill for this game because it has a black man in Japan are going to be the same people that boycot Resident Evil 5 remake because it's "racist forhaving a big, buff white man killing Africans." Exhibit A: the IGN artacale of them saying basically that. Just wait on it.
Fun fact: black people have NEVER boycotted a game or TV show because of someone else race hence Assassin Creed Black Flag, Resident Evil 5, Tarzan etc. Not once have black people complained about a white protagonist in Africa or black islands
However WHITE people complained about all of these things, make a Pirates Of Europe fantasy movie with a Black protagonist and crew and see how they react 😂 I think the reason black people don't care is cause they have other real life major shi to worry about
I personally don’t mind him as at least from what I’ve seen Ubisoft is claiming it’s historically accurate and that is where the point of contention is on the Japanese side of things but for me as long as they give the second main character an appropriate amount of development as well because this is the first time we’re getting a Japanese and black main character in a ac game but based on their recent entries I won’t hold my breath
dude Ghost of Tsushima EASILY felt better than most of the AC games I've played and it was already historically accurate in most cases I ain't pay but 15 bucks for the directors cut of Ghost Ubisoft tryna get 100 bucks for something that's objectively gonna be worse.
It's not historicaly accurate though. He wasn't a Samurai,he carried the actual Samurai's swords.Ubisoft is spitting in the faces of Japanese people and their history and it's disgusting that people are supporting this and acting like it's a good thing.
Devs knew that they will piss off some people with this decision but still did it.What I really hate is that they "proudly" presented him as first real life protagonists like we really should be happy for it, they could've just make Yasuke a central character and presented fictional black guy as a protagonist

You shouldn't be playing a real historical character. That's never really been a thing in the main line games in the main story. The two leads should've been Asian and they should interact with historical characters.
Bro just because other ac games had you playing as characters that never existed doesn't mean they can't change it. Would you be complaining if it was miyamoto musashi? No. Even the 2 gender thing is new older games had only play as a male character and I guarantee you none of you would be mad if it was only a male character in this game but for some reason if there is a female character they have to have a male counterpart of the same race. So why can't you be satisfied with just a female japanese character the same way you were satisfied the same way you were satisfied with only playing a male Italian in ac 2. Why can males come alone but females must come as a package?
@@obezy8705 it's a staple of the series for all these years so yea even if you played as an historic Asian character I would call BS. Also the recent games have given you the option to play male or female but basically the same race because of where it takes place. If they were going to now have 2 separate characters entirely it should follow the same rule ala two Asian characters. Also no one is demanding that it can't just be a female lead since that was sort of done already with liberation. The female design just needs to be good like aveline.
Well demigah it's seems like you misunderstood the point of Japan rn, rewriting history and a character is not the good for the game to "learn their history" as what Ubisoft said, which is the bs that pisses Japan off, your show on "Historical accuracy" is not the fact they meant, they made out of a real-life character in the most disrespectful way such as making him have a hip-hop infused asian music, samurai (which his not) and gay
Nobunaga used him as a Pet and Circus attraction. He was literally “Important” because he was a Black Servant that amazed everyone that his skin stayed dark when they brushed him. 😂
Nobunaga was first interested in the color of Yasuke’s skin. He thought he was painted. He ordered his servants to scrub him down. Yasuke’s skin stayed the same. After this simple experiment he believed that his natural skin color was black, and that he was no show piece. When the Jesuits mentioned about Yasuke’s great strength, Nobunaga tested this via sumo. Only after Seeing Nobunaga’s favorite wrestlers beaten up by Yasuke. Nobunaga hires Yasuke as a full fledged samurai bodyguard, not a slave / servant.
God damn, you People sure are quick to excuse real life For your fantasy. Yasuke was not important to Japanese’s history. Only you Leftoid Wokes deem him important for “The MESSAGE” The fact you are ignoring Real Life Japanese men for a Black dude is Racist as Hell. Assassins Creed Shadows literally dosent have a MC from the Region. Guess Ezio needed to be Black instead of Italian next huh?
After I played Ghost of Tsushima and got the plat, I was left with peace. I need Ubisoft to realize that if they are going to raise their prices like that. They should be goty worthy. I genuinely don't remember the last time they made a goty worthy game.
Ghost of Tsushima came out 4 years ago and gave us a free multiplayer DLC. AC has been nearly the same for the last 4 games, with very minor improvements and charge $160. Ubisoft is not the same company it once was.
It’s Ubisoft we all hate them but I think people might say “Why did they need to pick Yasuke Specifically?” I don’t care about that but what I will say is a hot take and that is Templars carried the franchise more than assassin did. Without chzere, Rodrigo would Ezio be a popular as he was? Without Charles Lee, HAYTHAM KENWAY would AC 3 have Connor not become an assassin or understand the views of the templars? Without Shay Cormac would Arno ever know his father was an assassin while he was alive? Would he find out Elise was ever a Templar herself? They need to bring templars back give HAYTHAM his own game, Shay Vs Arno and Connor game.
like why not make it about race? if u want a black main character, then why not have one represent their native land every single game? Every AC game region should correlate to the main character. A black guy in japan of all places is weird af, unnecessary even if it existed. Let him be a side character for sure, but MC? That shit's dumb. National and ethnic representation of a country, you know? Many AC games are a statement to the values of the nation they're in, and to have all of that be told by someone ethnically from the other side of the planet is unfair and an insult to japanese folks.
Your right, both Yasuke and Edward should both be changed out with a Asian Japanese man and a Black Caribbean man like you said every land needs their own natives right ?
Let's vote to replace Edward Kennway with Black Cesar a real black pirate in the black flag remake or maybe Ubisoft is seeing the things you guys say and have hopefully taken the initiative to put everyone in their right native lands....put Edward in some Europe game keep him out of the caribbeans
@@trvpmusic2569 the only one example you can find is a setting with you know, naval conquests that include other nations, so it works? In that setting Edward Kenway works.
@@trvpmusic2569 also notice I didn't say 'all AC games', i said 'Many AC games', so I'm quite literally acknowledging that. Imagine playing as black assassin in Renaissance italy. Black flag setting can include variety of ethnic backgrounds, but that is a clear exception, probably one of the only exceptions.
Still waiting for the day downloaded memories will be inserted into biological clones via Imu Technology thus allowing past characters to come back to life. Think of the plot holes that could be fixed: Lucy forced to explain herself and possible redemption, Altair and Enzo meeting Desmond, Enzo and Shao Jun reuniting, the Kenways reconciling, Arno getting revenge on Shay, Shay learning how corrupt and dangerous the Templars have become, Connor seeing what became of his people, the Frye Twins playing with new technology and Frye's lady descendant from WW2 seeing the womens' sufferage succeeding, etc.
I also want to point out that there's a game called Nioh which has a Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes White Man who is a samurai and was based on a actual white samurai around the same time period where Assassin's Creed Shadows takes place but no one is talked about that.
To raise my people never cared about it was because most people didn't know about it and it's not Assassin's Creed which has a pattern when it comes to the playable characters, I'm going to be honest if the Japanese woman was the only playable character I'll be happy.
The difference is that there is not a large group of people claiming Adams was a badass swordmaster that defeated hundreds of people in direct combat. Yasuke? Yeah, there are people actually claiming that. And BS like this game actually confirms their delusions.
Apparently we're weird for wanting to play as a Japanese samurai in Japan. It could've been male samurai, an onnamusha or onnabugeisha, someone that is actually native to the land of Japan
It's not about historical accuracy. It's about forced propaganda DEI. It has infested every areas of these large corporation and in addition to it being repulsive, it's detrimental to the quality of the final product. It's the same for series, movies ,games. I think people in general have had enough. No it is not about the race of the main character. It's about the intrusion of corporate money via ideologically fueled consultant companies into the creative process of these productions. It's also about the company trying to gaslight it's customers by saying that it's actually historically accurate.
The reason why people doesn't like the game is not because it isn't "historically accurate" i mean AC games are already inaccurate in the first place with it's fictional main characters making real historical events happen, triggering historical events etc. the reason why people hate the game is because Ubisoft is pushing their agenda on it. just like what they are doing to their other games. and it leads to bad writing. now I don't hate yasuke, but ubisoft could've easily picked hundreds if not thousands of real historical samurai warriors in history to represent in their game set on feudal japan!
Me personally I think it’s crazy that we’re just now getting an assassin’s creed game set in Japan after years of fan demand. Especially after they gave us shit like Valhalla and Mirage. Now it’s kinda too late cause all I thought about watching this was shit like ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro Also can we stop pushing the single player story with multiple playable characters gameplay style? Insomniac didn’t really do the best with balancing Peter and Miles, and with the captain America/black Panther game we’re getting 4 playable characters 💀. And I hope I’m wrong but the fact that only one character seems to do the assassin part with another character just fighting instead of mixing it up from time to time is kinda goofy.
@@thekidwhodoesnothing7512I didn’t really mean balance in terms of scaling I meant balance in terms of story.
Granted, this is the same company whose ceo said: "women don't sell"
Also, it's Ubisoft. It's going to be mid at best.

But at least it would come out looking like they really wanted to tell a more focus, integral story in feudal Japan, covering topics that not many people know.
I don't understand the part when you mean by, "So not make a game about someone who people literally asked to make a game about?" Word it alittle better because I'm confuse on that part
@deangelo3342 no it wouldn't because you just described exactly what they're doing right now there's nothing that changed
And I ment "let's not make a game about someone who people have asked to make game about" meaning people have asked for media about yasuke ubisoft took the chance to make that game it's not that deep
People should judge the game on it's gameplay and the quality of the story.

They're going to and it's not gonna be pretty
@@Demigah What about the character of Ubi$oft?
As a Japanese, and reading Japanese comments, I can say that a lot of them don't have a problem with a black character. If they officially claimed it was fiction, not a lot of people would have been pissed. If it was a story with a good looking black samurai with great game play, we'd be digging it.
The problem is that they are claiming it to be accurate, plus the Japanese see tons of DEI in the game. Also, UBI claims accuracy, but the trailer is full of mistakes. If a non-citizen tries to redefine its history or culture, anybody will have a problem. It's called cultural appropriation in the western world.
I still don't get People complained about GOT being made by a non Japanese dev team but nothing about Ubisoft?

@65firered it's the most pre-ordered game on Amazon japan right now (unfortunately) so you are wrong

Um no this doesn't retcon anything about assassins creed at all and everything you just explained can easily work for yasuke
Odyssey retconed animus itself by giving gender selection, dialogue option and having multiple story ending which shouldn't have happened either

Everybody wanted to be a ninja at some point hahaha, take care!
looking at both sides of the argument, imma say this.
There's a difference between doing it cuz you want to and doing cuz you're made/forced to be some random consultant company
When I saw price for the game, I was pissed.
When I saw yasuke was in the game, I was excited.
Because other than samurai warriors 5, I think this is the second samurai game he was featured in.
My family is 100% from Costa Rica. I was born there. I was raised in America. Every time i hear someone say "But you don't look Costa Rican." I feel like holding back my comments of their damn ignorance of human variety.
i wanna see a movie about yasuke seems so interesting
We know so little about him, it would have to be a full blown fantasy like the anime stuff.
And those who think he was ( considering its a fictional game)
But still, if we are set in fuedal Japan here, wouldn't it be cool if we could both have male and female Japanese assassin options here.
And don't even get me started on that price. 100? Ayo ubisoft?? 👀

People on Twitter when there are Black people in Feudal Japan: 🤬
WHAT BOTHER S ME IS THAT IT WILL BE FOR DIVERSITY AND NOT ANY ACTUAL CREATIVE IDEAS
The main character does not matter, any other character does not matter. The game itself does not matter.
We all know it's going to be trash
And people will defend it using race.
That's what annoys me
Bruh i don't fuck with Ubisoft for this choice because, and be for real with me Demi, for brownie points with DEI, no sugar.

The thing is,I don't care if the main character is black but I'm definitly sure that if it was like 10 years ago or so,he for sure wouldn't be black.
Well yeah no shit they made everyone white even when you went to other countries
If you voiced Yasuke, I would play dude XD
I'd love to 😂😂
Someone needs to make a mod for this 😂
People wanted to play as badass japanese ninja or samurai. Not some random sIave who became overglorified pet.
My problem is that the main protaganist isn't a real Japanese samurai
@@yunusgokcen174 Even in the absence of Yasuke, playing as a Samurai also seems ridiculous to me. I already hate dual protagonists, give me one character but that's a personal thing.

Finally someone who sees the truth of what's happening right now
They made him gay
The ONLY THING I'll take away from this, is the fact that Yasuke is the only historical person in an Assassin's Creed game. . . OUT OF EVERY OTHER MAIN CHARACTER THAT'S *NOT REAL!*

A black guy in japan of all places is weird af, unnecessary even if it existed. Let him be a side character for sure, but MC? That shit's dumb. National and ethnic representation of a country, you know? The reason why people doesn't like the game is not because it isn't "historically accurate" i mean AC games are already inaccurate in the first place with it's fictional main characters making real historical events happen, triggering historical events etc. the reason why people hate the game is because Ubisoft is pushing their agenda on it. just like what they are doing to their other games. and it leads to bad writing. now I don't hate yasuke, but ubisoft could've easily picked hundreds if not thousands of real historical samurai warriors in history to represent in their game set on feudal japan!

Miles also had way worse and more boring missions than Peter in all honesty. Like with Peter we got the flame missions and with miles we get school missions, that’s lame
