There's some irony here that Banky's telling Holden not to pine over someone who won't return his affection. Meanwhile Banky's been pinning after Holden pretty much their entire friendship. He's speaking from experience.
I really wish we got more films like this. Funny and sad but extremely human in the sense that none of our characters are perfect people. And with that trademark Kevin Smith quirkiness that sells the whole thing.
I watched it as a young kid who liked potty humour, but I didnt get much of the film. I rewatched it as an adult, and my god is it ever his best film. This and clerks 2.

I get you, but I mean, it wasn't a healthy friendship for them.. sure they are best friends and they care a lot for each other , but Banky has feelings for Holden..
@@oasis6342 Wrong. Banky was never sexually attracted to Holden. If you thought that, you didn't understand the movie. Banky is and always was a heterosexual man.

Lol nope he didn’t but there a forshadow in this movie when Bob tells Holden about the girl that got away this is shown up later in Jay and Silent bob strikes back that it was actually Jay that let the girl go
Holden patched things up later on with Alicia. The Chasing Amy comic book spawned a series on Netflix and Holden is the father of her child which was named Amy.
Broody was completely right about what he said. He’s kind of a MGTOW haha. He gave the guy good advice. I’d just tell him that if someone isn’t worth it they’re not worth it, period!
I’ve been on both sides of this fight…when I was in high school & college _(1999-2008)_ i looked at it as a struggle… now that I’m a single dad, (having gone through a $130,000 custody battle) I’ve come to the conclusion that _friends_ are typically only involved with people relative to what they can get from them… & the woman I had a child with, happens to be Jewish (the only _GOD_ she knows has an _L_ after the _O)_
I think Holden picks "The Man-Hating D*ke" in the riddle because The Man-Hating D*ke would be more interested of getting that crisp new hundred dollar bill than The Male-Friendly Lesbian, Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny.
I never understood the concept of this scene. Look, I know why everything is happening, and it’s well acted, but I always thought Banksy would be far more cunning, that he’d try to destroy the relationship from within, he’d be smart about it, slowly erode it. Here, he comes in with a machete. From sort of nowhere. It didn’t seem within his character to be so confrontational to the guy who is his best friend, that he has always been in love with.
@@CheerfullyCynical829 I don’t know if you’re talking to me, but I didn’t say that that Banky was sexually attracted to Holden. The reason I like the movie is that I don’t understand all the emotions in it. I’m just observing it.

Almost as disgraceful as taking the time to actively search for a scene from a movie you despise just to whine about it to a bunch of assholes on youtube. It's not the movie that's pretentious..it's you
I've actually said that to my brother after he was talking shit about a woman I was into and was close with, but wasn't dating at the time. Nope! All his original films were great. After clerks 2, he went downhill but Jay and silent bob reboot was pretty good
For me, this is hands down the best scene in any Kevin Smith movie
Love that scene! But oh man Silents Bob speech about Amy that hit different.
Would've guessed that scene from Zack and miri lol. Take care

This movie is so beautiful, man. But in all seriousness, I love this movie and the wrap up in J&SB: Reboot makes it soooo much better.
The intense arguing and crying could cause some serious anxiety, but it happens in real life.
