I honestly thought Aloy would reluctantly accept becoming “anointed”, but her outright rejecting it and continuing on with or without the Nora was so much better.
Right ?! It was so powerful and im so glad they did it that way ... I will always come back to play this game through again and i can't wait until forbidden west!! 💖
This is one of the reasons why i love Aloy as a character. She might be cold and bitter about her situation but she still wants to do what is right not just for the Norah but for everyone. Shes not a perfect character and shes flawed but she is still a great character for all of it.
I actually love the fact that she still resents the Nora to some extent. They treated her terribly and it would have felt too easy if she just went forgave them, it makes Aloy feel way more human.
I wouldn't say she's bitter here, just fed up with how poorly they treat members of their own tribe for really no reason. Aloy was shunned her entire life until recently; Lansra even going so far as telling Rost he wasn't supposed to love her as a baby. Her reaction here is having respect for herself, as well as other Outcasts who may not deserve it, like Rost. Holding the tribe, particularly Lansra, accountable for flip-flopping so easily once their god had "anointed" her.
They probably think it is her real/divine name. Given the time that has passed Doctor probably means something like healer to the Nora. So from their perspective god just called Aloy "Healer Sobeck", which makes her seem even more important.
This scene really solidified Aloy as one of my fav protagonists in my time of gaming. She's young but actually very wise, and admirably assertive, standing up to the tribe that shunned her for years, not wanting their respect, but rather their commitment to changing themselves and making a difference in a world she's been learning to value. Albeit stubborn and arrogant, this gives her a more realistic character that I love to play as
One thing I really appreciate about this scene is how it shows Aloy operating on a totally different wavelength to everyone else. She is intelligent enough to understand everything that was told to her inside the mountain, and she has to basically dumb it down to something understandable to the rest of the Nora. She knows they won't understand if she tries to explain GAIA or Zero Dawn or Hades in full, so she explains it as the Goddess blessing her to lift a curse placed by the Metal Devil. She has to speak it in their language. But she was always beyond how they all talk about these things, because she's a clone of Elisabet.
The game is actually factually very correct. Imagine 2000 years ago trying to explain some scientific knowhow to someone, or trying to explain why certain things behave this way. They had to dumb it down to either superstition or based on religion.
@@FreemanicParacusia Sylens is such a great character to have around. He is a perfect foil to Aloy, but as an ally. Whenever she's feeling sorry for herself, he doesn't hesitate to tell her to stop whining. When he gets too much of a smartass, she reminds him that he's not all that. A great duo.
I always tend to forget that Aloy is a literary clone of one of the smartest minds of "the old ones" and that's why she can adapt and understanding technology so quickly, and has unparalleled smarts.

I am still amazed at how brilliant the story telling here was. Characters could have been more flushed out and the voice acting could use some work but the result was breathtaking. This is a Witcher quality rpg.
Exactly my thoughts. I mean I will always prefer the Witcher, but this game is so exciting, the story and the storytelling. In other games you can become bored, but I can't wait to find and listen to every little device and to read every little note. Its actually sad that the behavior the Nora as a tribe exhibit in the game still persists to this day (as is evident from various superstitions and religions). This is a direct result of lack of exposure to relevant general education (basic methods of science of how the natural world works), critical thinking and problem solving in the general population across the globe. I wouldn't want to be worshipped either. I always try to correct people if they try to assign some kind of religious or spiritual meaning to things we are talking about by clarifying on the details of how things work through scientific terms. Problem is that while it DOES work for a good amount of people, others can still stubbornly dig their heels in and refuse to look at things scientifically (which is a problem because they were effectively brainwashed from childhood which did not provide them with a strong enough scientific baseline and it also kicked the questioning out of them by society and the education system at large)
